The Archives and "Sugar Mountain"
The excruciatingly delayed "Archives" project is "supposed to be" released on November 3. (Note, this will be at the same time that Hell freezes over.) This information comes from Warner Bros. release sheets and Uncut confirms.
Incidentally, this places the release date one day prior to the U.S. presidential election so we're sure this news will have a significant impact on the race and cause a drop in voting participation as fans watch their Blu-rays and opt out of going to the polls. What was Neil thinking with this release date??? Regardless, folks are going to be either cheering or crying that week.
Also, according to our source BECAUSE SOUND MATTERS (who has been on target in the past), Neil Young will release "Sugar Mountain" on September 29. Exact details of what this album will contain are unconfirmed, but it’s widely presumed to be another set of vintage live material.
A bootleg album, "Live On Sugar Mountain", recorded at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on the last night of Neil Young's early-1971 solo tour, has long been in circulation, and it’s *possible* the material for this official release may well be drawn from that show.
Thanks Greg, BSM & Scott in Glasgow!

I find it hard to believe that Neil would release a second 1971 live album. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion show is simply too similar in content to the 1971 solo Massey Hall. The two shows were only what, three weeks apart?
hey folks...the cd will include an acoustic mix of songs recorded at the riverboat in february 1969...not 1971...
Oh I hate to walk out on the thin ice of the Archives release date again, but...
1. Archives date 'makes sense' - a few weeks before the US tour begins.
2. Sugar Mountain sounds like an acoustic show, but could it be a retitled "Neil Young's Trunk Show" (the Demme film that is supposed to come out this fall - from New York 2007)If it isn't where'd the Demme film go?
3. Toast = toast?
Can't Wait!!! Archives on blu-ray and Sugar Mountain. I'm buying them both - that's if they actually come out lol
Hate to be the one to say this but November 3rd is not a tuesday. Neither was the last fake release date they gave us.
"sugar mountain"??? what the hell happened to "toast"??
The CD On site shows the release to be November 5 - the day AFTER the election... What did John Lennon say, "do you remember, the 5th of November?" just before the bombs went off... [From the famous English rhyme about Guy Falkes and his treasonish act in which he was a true powderfinger "Remember, remember, the 5th of November"]. And, the cost of the Blu-ray version is not shown - however, the CD's are posted at a cool Euro 225 (USD = $325) - let's hope that it won't really cost that much here... or it might turn me into Guy Falkes !
November 5th is a Wednesday.
$325.00?! I guess it's either see him live, or buy the archives for me this year. I was just on Amazon and the entire series of Seinfeld is $209.00. That's nine years of television production. Are you trying to tell me that this Java platform used in the archives was more expensive to produce than that. I doubt it.
Well, if the blu-ray price is also $325 in Australia I can live with that. I have a lot of vouchers saved up :) But if its $496 or something like that then I won't be getting it straight away, or maybe at all. Hurry up and give us the price Neil!!!
Sugar Mountain live isn't coming out and neither are the Archives. If they were coming out we would have heard something official by now.
