Love me some DBT!
RITFW!
HELL NO I AI’NT HAPPY!
Gotta respect a band of heathens that kick out a fellow heathen, to save him from his self.
😎
We love DBT as well.
Not sure which song they cover. Maybe full track list will be posted somewhere?!
First review of the new record here in the UK Guardian, from a journalist I respect. It actually captures something of the frustration for me of Neil’s recent records, whose lyrics at times can feel almost flippantly thrown together, along with tunes we already know.
Amazing summary of Neil’s recent output too!
Looking forward to hearing this one.

“I fixate on the news all the time,” Young tells Grayson Haver Currin in the latest issue of MOJO. “I wake up thinking about it, and I go to sleep thinking about it, because it’s a dangerous situation for our planet and for our people and, you know, for our children in the future. We are squandering things. As we’re distracted by what we’re seeing, we’re also distracted from the fact that we’re doing major damage.”
Meanwhile, says Young, the media focuses on controversies like the recent botched renovation of the Lincoln Memorial’s reflecting pool in Washington D.C..
“That’s all bullshit and it doesn’t matter,” he says, “but the media is largely responsible for this. These stations everybody watches, they just fixate on the White House and the president and what he’s done wrong. Sure, there’s a lot to talk about, but there’s a lot of other things, too.”
It is not that Young has softened his perspective on Trump, however. “I hope we get rid of him. Maybe he’ll be gone, and the world would be a better place,” he says. “Personally, as a human being, I don’t wish any ill on him. I just wish that he wasn’t there.”
...
Keyboardist and long-time collaborator Spooner Oldham tells MOJO that Young is happier than he’s ever seen him, that he has finally unlocked a sense of comfort.
“It took my whole life to find it, but then when I was there, I was going, There are no worries here of any consequence,” he says of falling for Hannah. “We are very close together in our life experiences. As artists, we understand each other. We understand the space and the time that’s required to do whatever it is we want to do.”
...
“If I have an idea, just in order to preserve it, I’ll sit down and play whatever I can,” Young tells MOJO from his home in Colorado. “Usually there’s a lot of mistakes, and I’m still finding it, but that’s what I record. I know where I’m trying to go. I can tell by listening.”
“If you’re making something up to go with something that’s happening, that’s not real, in my mind. Everybody else can do what they want to do,” he tells MOJO. “But for me, less is more – less thinking, really a lot less thinking. No reason to think. Just write it all down. Who cares? See what happens later.”
