On September 20th, Neil Young is scheduled to play a 50th anniversary concert at the Roxy Night Club in Los Angeles, CA.
The 50th anniversary concert commemorates the opening of the Roxy Night Club in September 1973 where Neil Young recorded what eventually was released as Neil Young's "ROXY TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT LIVE" in 2018.

The Roxy Theater concert was recorded during a run from September 20 to 22, 1973.
Young explains how Roxy - Tonight's the Night Live came to be:
"In 1973, I drove my 1947 Buick Roadmaster, Black Queen, to LA from the North, accompanied by Ben Keith. Once we made it to Hollywood, we met up with Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina. Nils Lofgren joined us and we drove to Studio Instrument Rentals on Santa Monica Blvd. David Briggs, producer, and Johnny Talbot, equipment manager, met us there. They had blasted a hole in the wall to connect the green board which we had set up (an old tube board I had purchased that had been used recording many historic sessions from the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds to Monterey Pop Festival, among many others) next to the rehearsal hall. Our 16-track analog tape machine was set up next to the board. We had finished recording TTN and decided to celebrate with a gig at a new club opening on the Sunset Strip, the ROXY. We went there and recorded for a few nights, opening the ROXY. We really knew the Tonight's the Night songs so we just played them again, the album, top to bottom, two sets a night for a few days. We had a great time. ROXY -Tonight's the Night Live is the live recording we made. There is a little Super 8 footage of us driving to the gig in the Black Queen one of those nights."
The Tonight's the Night tour concerts from 1973 are quite legendary amongst most long-time Neil Young fans. Many fans attending the tour concerts were bewildered by the experience expecting hippie acoustic sets in the post Harvest era, yet received loud, harsh, edgy electric sets. But time has since revealed the true masterpiece that the album Tonight's the Night captured. We have explored this topic in depth over the decades. For us, the raw Tonight's the Night recordings hold much value in peeking in on that critical timeframe: The Season of The Ditch. Producer David Briggs allegedly had a Tonight's the Night "raw version" which included all of the tape roll pre- and post-song recording. All of the studio, drunken, stoned chatter between the band, The Producer and The Artist. But the tape seems to have been lost to the ages...

I'm very interested in attending this, if I can manage to get a ticket. I've seen speculation that the Horse could be joining, but Springsteen is playing Sept 19 & Sept 21... would Nils really show up? Do you think Neil will re-hash Tonight's the Night deep cuts (New Mama, Tired Eyes, Mellow My Mind)? I would hope so. With other acts participating, do you think Neil will play a full set? I know this is all speculation, but I'm curious what others think.
It's exciting to think about. Smallest venue I ever saw Neil in was at the Coconut Grove withe Bluenotes. That place was just a couple hundred at best, so it was definitely a privilege, but the set was short and entirely new material. That's cool, but an intimate show with the Horse playing some TTN would be amazing
That said, it's a benefit show. With such limited capacity (500), by all rights the tix are likely gonna be wildly expensive ($500 and up?). Again, for a bene show, that strikes me as appropriate, but sadly out of my range. But, as you said, all speculation at this point

Is the Roxy show on the 20th a one off? Will the Roxy band also play Farm Aid on the 23rd?
Looks like Springsteen ends one leg of his tour in Columbus, Ohio on the 21st just down the road from Farm Aid two days later.
Does anyone know how to get and when tickets to the Roxy show will be offered? Will there be a pre-sale for NY Archive members? I'll be in LA the week before and would happily extend the stay for eight days just to attend! That said, I lived there for over 20 years - it's likely the toughest place in the country to get tickets to a BIG show (like this one) for an even remotely reasonable price. Too many people making too much money live there. Plus, the number of "Industry Insiders" in that town alone will probably make it impossible (unless Neil steps in and makes some tickets available to REAL fans). Someone above mentioned $500. Pfft. Charity event or not, entry will be at least in to four-figures. (Again, unless Neil...)

Looks like Keith E nailed it. I know it's a charity benefit as well as the Roxy's 50th but The Roxy & AXS Ticket service just posted a lottery signup for even a chance to score tickets. But here's my main point of post, listed in the info for signup.

Tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE
Was really hoping to go (Wife and I did get two shows at the Ford Theater at $150ea ticket) but being retired, $2,000+ for a night won't fit my budget. It's Los Angeles/Hollywood as well as any that will travel in so probably won't have an issue selling 1,000 (500 ea night) tickets. Looks to me that even if some tickets are offered on Archives they will be at this price.
Thinking of sending a letter to Archives urging Neil to make a Live Stream out of it and could raise a lot more money. Peace, Randy M

My perception was...they charged your (my) credit card $1.00 to register for their Lottery (which I have a feeling will be considered to be a part of the "fees" by AXS that will NOT go to the charities and will not be refunded if you're not "chosen"), and that they're just going to sell two tickets to those deemed to be worthy.
Like, once you've paid that $1.00, you were committing to buy two tickets for $1,000 each if you're chosen. They're going to immediately charge your credit card for the tickets and deliver them digitally. One can only wonder how much the total "fees" will end up being * it was never stated. I don't think that they're going to give anyone the opportunity to opt out once chosen no matter how much the fees turn out to be. It was like you were entering in to a contract by just paying that $1.00
What's odd is that they started the "registration" after the second show was announced, yet only mentioned the first 9/20 show when they started taking registrants.
The whole thing could've and should've been handled better. And yes, the NYA site should have at the very least have been explaining things.
I stand corrected on some prior assumptions (although now it looks like it's only the 9/21 show that you're registering for - this whole thing is a shitshow). I'm pretty sure that when I "registered" that it was for the 9/20 show. Now it says 9/21, but you risk being disqualified if you register again for 9/21?
