Neil Young Official Release Series #4 (Vinyl Box Set): Pre-order - Release Date: April 29, 2022
The Neil Young Official Release Series #4 (Vinyl Box Set) is now taking pre-orders on Greedy Hand with a Release Date: April 29, 2022.
The vinyl of Hawks & Doves, Re*Ac*Tor and This Notes for You have all been remastered from the original analog tapes. This Notes for You and Eldorado use the 44/16 digital master. The CD’s of Hawks & Doves, Re*Ac*Tor both use the original 176/24 digital master.
From Neil Young Archives:
After the rush of 'Rust Never Sleeps' and the 'Live Rust' albums with Crazy Horse, I settled into a different phase of the musical journey with 'Hawks and Doves' and Crazy Horse's 'Reactor'. In the center of these four albums, I made a group of LPs for Geffen Records. Then I happily returned to reprise with 'This Note's for You' and Eldorado, the last two albums in this set.
And if that's not enough good news for the day, "Cocaine Eyes" is the NYA Song of the Day. (thanks Tomatron!!!)

Cocaine Eyes is the NYA Song of the Day. Finally!
This is great news for those who don’t have these on vinyl - although other than Eldorado these are easy to get anyway (I was very lucky to get a cheap vinyl copy second hand a few years back!)-
it gets us one step closer to the freedom/ragged glory extended/weld/arc box set -
I don’t think I’ll be able resist that!
Ordered, already got all these on vinyl, including two copies of Eldorado, three if I include the CD. Will be great to have new copies of the other three.
I really hope that the extended Ragged Glory is not released separately and then again in the next ORS box. Unless of course the ORS version is a standard reissue of the original without the extra tracks.
Although I’m happy for collectors of the ORS sets, the next vinyl box is the one I’ll be holding out for. I don’t have the previous ones, and the idea of a set that just skips past several records throws me off majorly. Different labels, Geffen releases unavailable, I know, but it’s weird to jump from the early 80s to the late, knowing all the amazing work that happened between. And I’m pretty happy with my old vinyl copies! Even when Eldorado comes out individually I won’t fool with it since it has so many songs in common with Freedom; instead, I’ve been itching to create a NYA playlist that joins the two. But it’ll be great to have these couple of tunes back in print, and Cocaine Eyes sounds fantastic.
More duplication, Eldorado has been hard to get the rest are easy to get hold of. These releases are bizarre and a rip off. Very average Neil records.
Hawks, Reactor and This Note's For You have been available as separate ORS releases for 4 years. So its a tall order to fork out £90+ for an ORS Eldorado and a nice box. Saying that, I did it for the Goldrush 50th Anniversary set.
Hopefully El Dorado will be released individually at some point?
I've lost track of the intended release date for the remaining vinyl Bootlegs. Can someone please remind me of when they are expected to be available?
Why even put them in vinyl if they're digital masters? This is a shakey release. Just release El Dorado separately for chrissake.
Sadly they’re trying to lure in vinyl completists into spending $100 to get a copy of Eldorado (which is still cheaper than getting a second hand copy online at the moment)
Just Another case of the major record labels ripping off the fans
