VIDEO CLIPS: Neil Young Channel | YouTube
The Neil Young Channel | YouTube has recently been updated with about a dozen + videos. (Thanks RoadDawg!)
The YT videos seem to consist of material formerly found exclusively only on Neil Young Archives. The Channel updates appear to be a marketing effort for NYA.

They appear to be a demonstration of how to use NYA online, yet a lot of this material isn't available - I have tried copying the actions in the video and a lot of the videos simply aren't there - it would be great if, when you clicked on 'Love and Only Love' you got a link to the video of the song being performed in Weld, but we don't.
Maybe it's a preview of the coming higher-tier membership?
It looks great, but I hope the Archives team don't make the same mistake they made last time when NYA vol 1 was released: do you remember when Archives Guy announced that remastered versions of the first four albums were being released in the very week that everyone had stretched themselves to buy a very expensive boxset that contained 80% of the songs anyway? It came across as cynical, though I'm sure wasn't intended to be.
Hopefully Neil's team will be careful to spread these releases and announcements over a few months, because Christmas is expensive enough without the entire motherlode arriving the month before! Having said that, we don't want to wait too long! One release a month for the next eight years should do it...!
A little cheaper this time as you are not being encouraged to buy a PlayStation that could handle Blu-Ray and BD—Live! Yikes!
@ Thos - thanks for checking out more closely and reporting back here.
yeah, so what's the deal?
wonder why they would post something not accessible? good suggestion on direct links.
As for higher-tier membership? well, that should spark another rustie firestorm ...
yep, we do recall AG's announcement on remaster reissues. sparked a rustie firestorm.
sometimes you can really tell no one's driving the bus when Elliot, Reprise and Neil couldn't agree on what the smart next move was.
that said, it is tremendously difficult bordering on impossible to determine how best to monetize "intellectual property" in the digital age. given everything can be instantly pirated on a global scale, you're back to playing live music and selling physical stuff. Shirts, posters, etc.
which brings us back to nice packages like NYA#2. Hopefully, better manufacturing this time. Or better QA. The NYA#1 book was a treasure in and of itself along w/ the other items like Filing Cabinet poster, etc.
Looks like we're still on track for nya#8 IN 2050!?!
@ bscore - well, yes, good news no need to buy new hardware like a PlayStation.
actually, if you recall, we pushed very hard for BR drive on PCs. But AG insisted that they couldn't get NYA to perform properly on either MAC or Windows platforms.
Now the emphasis seems to be on phone playback?! again, we'd really like to stream NYA in high res off a workstation w/ high res monitor. playing NYA on a phone holds little interest for us b/c they're impossible to navigate much like the Playstation was impossible to navigate unless you were a hardcore gamer.
maybe when nya#8 comes in 2050 everything will be sorted out ...
As Cameron Crowe said recently, "He giveth. And he taketh."
long live Uncle Eddie!
