War of Man moved me like I thought it couldnt. Flying on the Ground is Wrong. holy shit i was almost losing it. and the Crowd ? could not have been more quiet! Never a wrong shout out. Respectful. unbelievable. so right on . Harvest Moon, Losing End. All the like 5 new songs are pretty good! No shit! sort of fun live too. the show seemed short but he was in great form. Voice as good as ever. I was on the balcony like row 10 center. I yelld once neil or something and I knew everyone heard it loud. Im like, oh, shit, almost sorry. the acoustics must be crazy and the sound was great.

Fun show, he was in a playful mood riffing on familiar stuff like Are You Ready For the Country and Mother Earth, and he recovered from a HOG fuckup where he momentarily forgot the lyrics to toss in "Keeps me searching for a heart of gold/Though I've found mine." So far as I can tell, only the sixth-ever solo Losing End (three times at the Riverboat in '69 and twice during Solo Trans in '83). And we got 22 songs over an hour 40 minutes, a couple less than Portland but tied for second-most among this year's solo shows.

Wonderful experience watching the Portland & Spokane 11hr flght from 2 hour flight to Portland from Vegas.... one he'll of a time enjoying the pleasures of the Portland 'bumper to bumper' traffic...and then a 6 hour drive to Spokane. Was it worth it?...well...yep!!!!
But one question...can someone tell me why do people feel the need to have a 'banchi' hollering competion...and a see who can shout..whooooa & aaahhh...the loudest?
It was seriously like spending nearly 2 hours in a monkey santurary...both inbetween songs..and mid song. Therefore I can't relate to the comments that the crowd were repectful..what is enthusiastic what is two chimpanzees mating is I suppose down to perceptions...
Anyway.. roll on Seattle for 2 nights.. by that time I will have adjusted to the in concert hollering and animal sounding completion that I clearly failed to appreciate the last 2 nights.

Thanks to all for the mini reviews!

@ wsanjose01 - 4 new songs and lots of rarities and a good crowd. nice. so what did you think of new tunes?

@ Babbo B. - you're right about "Losing End" -- only 6th solo performance ever per sugar Mtn.

@ caroleann - so great you made the trip and shared experience. sorry about those who must be heard when silence is best.

Shall we suggest you print these up to hand out?

We always carry "The STFU Card" wherever we go Neil solo. Don't leave home without it.

Well, presumably you won't have that problem with the POTR concerts. Enjoy Seattle!

Try and drop us a report before departing.

there was a large Canuckistan contingent in back of me. BC. 1 guy shouted 2 ill timed yells early on. after that not 1 mis placed shouted fuck ups. I was amazed. many many intensely quiet moments by ON (ol Neil). Crowd was in rapture. He slowed Mother Earth down so far it was a bit distracting but the guy feels his muse. The earth is in peril. Oklahoma senators can bring a snowball into the capitol and it only makes them stupid and proves no point. Even Tumbleweed which has not exactly thrilled me was the perfect ending. You can a show talented 15 yr old 3 chords and with a decent voice you say Jason or Emma, that was great. Thank you. I enjoyed that. Give those same chords to him and he owns them and gives it something truly remarkable. Its not so much what he does its the way he does it. I wanted more.

Outstanding performance from Neil as always.
Very restless crowd and poor venue.
Very old theater with no updating, so there is no leg room at all.
The bar was open thru-out the performance which meant if the person in the middle of your row wanted a drink, half the row had to file out to the aisle and wait for the person to exit.
Then had to repeat the same thing when the person returned with their drink.
This happened all over the theater, all the way through the performance and right in the middle of a song.
I don't necessarily blame the crowd, hey it's Saturday night and people want to drink and have fun. I think quite a few people missed the word SOLO. I believe the venue should have closed the bar a half hour before the show. People are always going to be very vocal at a Neil show, it's just the way it is. But the constant up and down during the show was very distracting to those who came to enjoy the performance and extremely disrespectful to Neil.

Don't disagree with the alcohol/crowd comments, but have to take issue with the "very old theater with no updating" - the Fox (built in 1931) underwent a $30 million renovation in 2007 to become the new home of our symphony. (Maybe they could have done a better job with seat spacing, but as a shorter person I don't notice it that much.)

Anyone hear any rumors about Neil showing up for the Lucas Nelson & POTR show at the Fillmore in SF two weekends from now?

Oops, at least one more previous solo performance of Losing End (besides '69 and '83) - it's on Songs For Judy, duh!
