Album is all done. Will be released in September according to Neil. And he's planning a huge tour with Crazy Horse

Caught Neil at The Paramount last night. First show I've seen since Psychedelic Pill tour, and have not heard much of the POTR material. To my eyes and ears, he was in fine form. I liked POTR more than I expected—I'm sure I'm not the first to observe that they seem to bring out something good in him—not just youthful energy, but a certain looseness and -- playfulness?

I'll leave the setlist to someone else, as there were a handful of POTR and (I think) unreleased songs I wasn't as familiar with. Was happy to hear Alabama (timely) and Winterlong and Words, none of which I don't remember seeing him perform at the shows I've seen, but, then again, the years and shows blend together. Can anybody tell me what the slower, minor chord (I think) song about seeing a woman "in the Milky Way" is? I liked that one—-really enjoyed the atmospheric noodling on Old Black.

Some reviewers here have commented on loud, boozed-up crowds at recent shows. I gotta say, I've seen a couple dozen Neil shows, and last night's crowd was by far the most annoying. I felt like I was in a room full of grade-schoolers with ADD and no meds. Tons of yelling between (and during) songs, loud talking during songs that didn't interest them, and non-stop up-and-down and milling around. Concerts are for fun, and I'm all for dancing and having a couple beers (or whatever) to get in the groove, if that's your thing. But this was distracting at best, rude at worst. Hopefully tonight's crowd will have fewer people starring in their own social-media-cast reality shows and more who are there to listen and groove on the music. (Honorable mention for annoyingness goes to the Paramount ushers, who wandered around all night blinding everyone with their flashlights so they could shame people taking videos with their phones. Hadn't seen that before.) Yes, I'm becoming a cranky "Old Man."

Bottom line: See these shows if you can. It's good medicine to see Neil being unceasingly Neil, the music is quite good, and, for those so inclined, it's a great warmup for the Horse tour that's hopefully coming. Thanks, Thrasher's Wheat, for this info source and platform.

@ Rustafarian - thanks for sharing the report. We've heard before that playing with POTR makes Neil 10 years younger.

As for audiences these days?! Hard to say anymore.

Good review Rustafarian. Thanks for the update.

Funny Thrash, regarding your 10 years younger comment. As I was looking at the pictures above I was thinking anytime I see Neil with Old Black strapped on... the years melt away and he looks younger. Either way, if he's found the fountain of youth, I'll take it and I'm sure he'll accept the compliment.

Hoping to hear an improvement amongst the crowds. Live music us better (bumper stickers should be issued). Act accordingly. Enjoy and live in the moment.

Great show last night!
Neil's voice was spot on...amazing. Talk about POTR keeping him young, I think Daryl is good for him as well. He looked like he dropped a few more pounds since I last saw him at the Tower in Upper Darby PA.

The sound system was outstanding. Between Neil, the background vocals, guitars, bass, organ and percussion, everything sounded great. Most importantly, Neil himself was in great form.

I was in Row A on the right and there was some caterwauling from a few yokels, but it wasn't that bad. Neil was a very happy man and it showed last night. If he's pissed 😡. It's pretty easy to tell. Last night, he was very pleased and it showed in his performance. The audience was standing right from the opening and didn't sit down all night.

Again, throughout his acoustic guitar playing set, you could hear his voice amazingly youthful and very clear. When he went electric, the crowd really erupted and it was a real journey through the past. I don't know how he does it, but when he's happy on that stage, (and in his life, for that matter), he just does not show his age. He really enjoys playing with POTR.

It was great to hear Alabama and based on current events, I think he put extra driving venom into it. Followed by Words, Winterlong and Walk On, Powderfinger, (an impromptu Everybody Knows), LAOL & RITFW, it all came together. POTR are genuinely tuned into his older stuff and it really shows. I really enjoyed and I'm looking forward to the 3 new unreleased songs he played. I hope they're on the upcoming Pink Moon release with Crazy Horse.

If tonight's show is this good, I'll be a happy camper.
And then...it gonna be Crazy Horse! What a great year for Neil fans.

Peace ✌️

Android App released today. Sounds good so far, but I'd have to do an A/B test to determine whether it really makes a difference when my headphones aren't that good to begin with. Still nice to have if I need a Neil fix on the go! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shakey.nyarchives&rdid=com.shakey.nyarchives

First of all. Thank you Thrasher!. Many years a listener, probably third time caller in ~20 years. Been around since rust@death and all that.

Went to the first night at the Paramount in Seattle. 30th show or so in 30 years. The sound was top notch and the crowd was amazing. I guess everything is relative. I was seated on the main floor center near the soundboard. Folks were quiet during the solo acoustic stuff and Rockin' during the jams. Never heard nor seen that before Been to many shows where folks were not so polite. A few of the Detroit solo gigs come to mind. Quite the opposite last night.

Also, brought my youth teenager kids to Neil for the first time. Could not find anyone younger than them. Well, opinions are subjective and get some get Real. Great tunes, crowd and vibe in the 21th century in Seattle. Live Music Matters!
