"Contenders": Setlist Image for Neil Young's Upcoming "Somewhere In Canada" Concert on December 1

The tweet image above by Neil Young is captioned "Contenders" and is a possible setlist for his upcoming "Somewhere In Canada" Concert.

Neil Young's tweet last week indicated that he will perform live somewhere in Canada on December 1. Speculation is focusing on a town in North Ontario.

Visible song titles include: "Tumbleweed", "Stand Tall", & "Glad I Found You".

So December 1 continues to shape up to be a very, very big day for Neil fans. On December 1, the new album ‘The Visitor’ by Neil Young + Promise of the Real will be released. Also, the Neil Young Online Archives will launch.
A perfect trifecta storm: Archives Release, Album Release, Global Live concert broadcast.

I vote for Stand Tall. I think that's what he was practicing in the car in the previous post and it sounded real nice.

Neil needs to do Alabama.

I've never liked "Alabama" but the times we are in just may call for it to be played. Banjos...

@Topanga... Agreed on "Alabama". Not my favorite from the Harvest album, which is a record I like in general. I find "Words (Between The lines of Age)" to be rather underrated. Plus the title song; there's a lot to chew on there. For Harvest-era tracks today, I just as often turn to the NYAPS Massey Hall album, which doesn't include Words or Harvest (song), but is otherwise so bedecked with material from that period and album, it's not funny.

For Somewhere in Canada, I look forward to the live stream. For the setlist, I vote for"Love in Mind" and "When God Made Me".

"Was he thinking of my religion
Or the color of my skin?"

"Man-made rules keep holdin' back my love;
Can't hold it back no more!
Churches long preach sex is wrong
Jesus, where has nature gone?"

"Solider" would be damn cool, too. But I'm trying not to get greedy. It's just that seeing Neil Young lyrics and a piano makes me salivate a bit. As the days fly past, will I lose my grasp?

Ian, I largely agree with you.

In my opinion, there's no question that Neil's "peak" came on that '71 tour. The Massey Hall show is astonishingly great, and it wasn't even as good as the brilliant show from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion!

I could talk about the performance and evolution of the "A Man Needs a Maid/Heart of Gold" suite all day, but I digress...

For Somewhere in Canada, I predict the following songs will be played:

Journey Through the Past
Love In Mind
Love is a Rose
Old Man
Heart of Gold
Harvest Moon
Goin' Back
Comes a Time
***3-5 songs representative of his environmental/political/wistful/spiritual side. When God Made Me/War of Man/Natural Beauty/Who's Gonna' Stand Up?/One of These Days/
Prairie Wind material, etc...
Silver and Gold

And the show closer:
Long May You Run

Other possible outliers/hopes: My, MY, Hey Hey, Thrasher, The Bridge, Walk On, Harvest, It's a Dream, Razor Love, Rockin' In the Free World, Sugar Mountain, Pocahontas, Out on the Weekend, Don't Be Denied, Ambulance Blues, Unknown Legend, Hitchhiker, Already One, Falling From Above, Dreamin Man, Don't Let It Bring You Down, Bad Fog of Loneliness, I Am a Child.

Yea, I'm going off the rails here, so I'll end my speculation. It will just be nice to see and hear from Neil.

In closing, I'm still really enjoying the Visitor...
