I don't know if Hank Jr. is a fan of Neil, but he probably learned the song through Waylon. It's worth pointing out that his arrangement closely resembles the title track from the Waylon album.
Now that's Funky!
Great version of "Are You Ready For The Country" by Hank Jr. Nice job, Bocephus--my Mom remembered your Daddy from way back when they were both little ones, growing up down near the Panhandle, and she would tell me nice stories when I was growing up. Her cousin and best friend Lillibelle lived up the road in Georgiana, same as him.
As GK points out, this is similar to Waylon's version, which is also great. Not too surprising there--they were both influenced by the very amazing and under appreciated Steve Young, who is probably the Godfather (or at least one of them) of Outlaw Country. Steve is also still around and performing...check out his old and new stuff when you can; "Montgomery In The Rain" is a favorite of mine, and was covered by Hank Jr. many years back.
For Evita Escovedo RIP...Por Vida

@GK: It would seem a safe bet that Hank Jr is a Neil fan would it not?
@SONY - oh yeah!
@Mr H - as always, thanks for the education with the Steve Young info. Someone else to check out.
Bummer on Evita E. :(
