Great show .. Sadly still haven't seen Thrasher .. Basically the same setlist except Blowin in the Wind instead of Thrasher, no harvest moon or flying on the ground and Reason to Believe instead of Are you ready for the country ...
There was a complete ass who yelled for Cinnamon Girl after ever single song .. Just insane .. What's wrong with these people? Neil finally couldn't take it anymore and just screamed "fuck you" back. Everyone erupted in applause.
Wow, just as quickly as it arrived, Thrasher was gone again? Damn.
I have to say, although many Neil fans are super cool and respectful, he does seem to have a high percentage of absolute dumbass, half-wit fans, too.
I've been listening to some beautiful recordings from the 1999 tour lately, and in the middle of "Albuquerque" or whatever, some jackass in the crowd will just scream out of nowhere. What is that? It happens randomly throughout the show, every city. These people should be in cages. I'm listening to night 1 from Dolby Theatre on Rust Radio right now, and it just happened in "On the Way Home".
I've seen Leonard Cohen twice, also very quiet acoustic based music, and nobody in the audience just decided to scream indiscriminately like a fool in the middle of a song.
It's no wonder Neil has a reputation for being a bit grumpy, plenty of his fans are idiots.

Fortunately we had no screaming during the actual songs .. However a prolonged (loud) fight broke out during Someday...
Here is F*CK YOU! and Long may you run

Same use have a lot more video from yesterday´s show.
The most ridiculous thing was that a fight broke out during the show too. Right in the middle of a song. WTF?! I do love how Neil handled it by takling to Woody...
Goin' on the Youtube clips, the NY Carnegie shows were a lot more focused and intense than the first LA one - maybe the acoustics play a part, but the assholes in the audience certainly do! You can almost sense Neil hurrying up through Long May You Run to get out of there. Man, what kind of a jerk goes to a Neil show these says to behave like a boozed up high school bozo? I confess, in 1989 I once shouted out to Ben Keith, something about his hair style, just for the hell of it (he had great hair, among other things). But I mean, hey, that was between songs, not in the middle of em!
Right on Neil!
F U to a "fan" who is ruining the experience for all doesn't seem to go far enough. and rushing thru "long may you run" so you may run along seems right. Matter of fact from what I've seen and heard the peeps @ dolby were far less well behaved than @ carnegie, especially given the fact that forewarned should mean forearmed.
I think Neil should cancel the rest of the L.A. shows and move on to the other cities, maybe add a few more along the way. Too Harsh? only on Neil. You "fans" in L.A. don't deserve two more shows. Pathetic.
It's a sour note all around when 'fans' act like complete idiots at Neil's shows. It's been chronicled here before, so I won't belabor it. But to have Neil respond that way, though deserved, just brings the level of the whole show down a major level. I wonder if this boorish behavior goes on in Europe, Australia and other overseas venues. Or is it just us 'enlightened' Americans that act so thoughtfully?
Wonderful show. When you listen to any of the old live acoustic shows there are always jackasses that yell out this or that. He has been dealing with this for the forty plus years he has been performing. It's the 10% factor. 10% of people are just idiots anywhere you go.
Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Dolby: $400 ticket in hand:I had to listen to an inconsiderate buffoon behind me most of the night sing with almost every song that Neil sang; he even attempted to whistle along while Neil played the harmonica; that broke the camel's back and I had to say something. End of story. LA fans are rude.
@Sony: right, Neils response didnt change things for the better.. Only the audience can do that.. As far as Eurooe goes, we have our share of idiots here, though nowhere near like in LA.. During Neils solo set in Amsterdam, 2008, you could hear a pin drop, which heightened the experience tremendously. On the other hand, he broke off the first song once (FHTH) because some drunken clowns in the front row (photographers?) kept yapping loudly; as a matter of fact he shouted "Shut up, asshole!" loud enough to almost hear it in the parking lot. It worked, but contrasted strangely with the song... ;-) Finally, even during my very first Neil show (w CH, Rotterdam 1976), he criticized the audience, during the acoustic set ("I can hear some if you talking to me... Very loud.. i can't play if you talk that loud.") More polite (he was 31 at the time) but obviously irritated. It must have something to do with the stoned hippie image which he still carries around in some places...
The “heckler” (for want of a better word) was sitting a few rows behind me and to my right on the 3rd mezzanine during the show. This guy – or one just like him – has always been at Neil’s shows when he plays acoustic. You know the guy: regardless of what Neil is playing on an acoustic guitar, will always yell for “Powderfinger or "Hurricane." Totally clueless. Tonight, he was yelling for "Cinnamon Girl." By the 2nd time it got old - very old - and it was the first time I saw Neil snap back (justifiably so) at him. The applause went he dropped the F-bomb on the guy was rapturous. I passed the heckler (jerk) on the way out of the Dolby Theater . A young kid and wearing black wraparound sunglasses and was gloating to his friends about how “Neil Young told him F*ck You!” He was actually proud of it, saying that “people want to hear Cinnamon Girl!” I hope that the Dolby Theater will step up tonight and tomorrow night for the remaining shows and position an usher inside the house on each floor during the show to prevent a reassurance of this type of disrespectful behavior.
I really hope you can hear a pin drop in the audience tonight! They should throw the hecklers out by their seat pants. Go Neil, long may you run. You know we love you.
Was at the show. Great respectful audience. An announcement before the show requested no song requests be shouted out. It worked. No boorish yellers.
Neil at one point did light heartedly admonish someone in the front for yakking while he was playing. He told them it was better for them to yak while he was talking not singing!
All in all a beautiful show. Neil got the respect he deserves and delivered a show to remember, including Trasher in the encore. Long may he run.
going to the show tonight and cannot wait! I would love to know what time Neil goes on. if you anybody remembers, would you please lmi? says that doors open at 8 but there's no way he's starting then too. thanks so much!
I've heard he's been starting at 8:00. I think you're wrong about doors opening at 8:00. Don't be late!
