TOUR DATES CANCELLED: Neil Young and Crazy Horse Europe Tour
Update: Reports indicate that Poncho has sustained a hand injury.
Report from Rolling Stone by Andy Greene is that Frank "Poncho" Sampedro broke his hand. "It's a mild fracture," a source close to the Young camp tells Rolling Stone. "He's expected to make a complete recovery in time for the North American tour."
Statement from Way Out West Festival, Göteborg, Sweden -- where Neil Young and Crazy Horse were scheduled to perform tonight:
We regret to inform you that a member of Crazy Horse today has been in an accident. Unfortunately, this means that Neil Young & Crazy Horse must cancel his gig tonight. Reiterates and regrets: Neil Young & Crazy Horse forced to cancel due the crash of one in the band. This affects the whole European tour. This is the first we've heard "crash"? Possibly a translation thing?
From official NY Times:
TOUR DATES CANCELLEDWe're as stunned as everyone.
August 8, 2013
For immediate release:
Due to an accident involving Crazy Horse, the remaining dates on the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour of Europe and the British isles have been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the Festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events.
-- Neil Young and Crazy Horse
Here's hoping that the accident isn't too serious and the Horse will be able to ride again someday soon.
No word on remaining N. American dates.
Major bummer. :(
sorry folks

Aw man, no way!!
Hope all is well in the Crazy Horse camp. Best wishes to them all...

Shit hope you comeback back later
Love fr.o.m. Copenhagen
Poncho jinxed the tour with his interview to Andy Greene @ scumbag Rolling Stone...
I feared something would happen...
I hope it's nothin serious...
Man, I was so pumped for this, and 2 hours before the show in Gothenburg it was cancelled.. "Drive back" to Stockholm now I guess...
JUST IN: swedish concert boss tells it is NOT SERIOUS OR LIFE THREATENING but enough for cancelling as is...
Neil Young and Crazy Horse have canceled the final seven dates of their European tour because guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro broke his hand. "It's a mild fracture," a source close to the Young camp tells Rolling Stone. "He's expected to make a complete recovery in time for the North American tour." The group has been on tour for much of the past year, and they played yesterday in Oslo, Norway.

well that's a relief. maybe they can think about coming back to Europe after the American shows
Eat a peach.
Glad everyone in the band is okay.
jeeps I hope his hand gets better, and I thank my guides for making me change my mind and get tickets for france instead of London o2 which I wanted to go to cause its my birthday.
Tellement triste de cette fin prematuree de la tournee , je ne peux m empecher de repenser ace qu avait dit neil young au rockall du luxembourg, peut etre on ne se reverrait plus ,,, etait ce premonitoire? Je ne put m y resoudre
I understand the chemistry and balance Neil experiences when he plays with the Horse, however, is there any respectable replacement rhythm guitarist to salvage the balance of the Euro tour? Didn't Neil once call upon Stills or Crosby to bail him out in Bakersfield one time?
Well this is disappointing news, but of course I hope Poncho recovers quickly and I'm sure they're all pretty bummed too.
I've shelled out for a train ticket from to Liverpool and night at a hotel I can't refund.
Is anyone else going to be in Liverpool that night and wanting to meet for a drink? Could even bring the guitar for a bit of a sing song?
I don't think you'll see NY with Stills anytime soon. After NY left Stills and Buffalo Springfield in the lurch, Still was quite upset and stated that he doubted he would ever play with Neil again. The cancellation notice cited an accident, the wrist has been a chronic thing for some time now.
I was wondering why Neil and Elliot didn't think about a replacementwith an acoustic show, maybe only 70-80 minutes long, better than nothing !
I am sorry for my italian friend Andrea who flew to Norway yesterday and will have only 1 show instead of 3 ....
I waited so many years to see him and finally when it was possible (he was so close to my country) and my son was ready too ... I can't believe 5 days before
It was 1973 when Crosby joined Neil in Bakersfield. I believe it was because of vocal issues Neil had at the time. Too bad Larry Cragg isn't with Neil anymore.
Damn it ! I'd like to break his other hand now !!!
Is Neil Young joking? He cancelled it because someone broke his hand? Fuck off, that's no excuse, we go to see Neil Young not Crazy Horse, who cares about them REALLY? They're nobody's. Neil Youngs backing band and that's about it. Surely Neil who's been playing for over 40 years must know someone else who can play? Absolute let down.
"we go to see Neil Young not Crazy Horse, who cares about them REALLY?"
I was going to see Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Having seen Neil Young with his Electric Band three times, I was REALLY looking forward to seeing Crazy Horse. I REALLY care about them. Hopefully they'll come back.
Wise up Daniel. They are more than just a backing band. If you were a true fan you would know this. Maybe you just want to be there to say you saw Neil Young, but a true fan knows the difference between Neil Young with and without Crazy Horse. Get well soon, Poncho.
Neil could have done an acoustic set.
Oh yeah, I would love to see the Twisted Road Tour in Europe! The problem is that 99 % of the audience is coming to see Neil Young & Crazy Horse on this tour because they are billed as Neil Young & Crazy Horse and because those people know and understand that Crazy Horse is the Greatest Rock and Roll Band on the planet! Peace!

Atom Smasher - Come to Liverpool and have a good time, you won't be dissapointed
Maybe start a thread of a possible replacement for Poncho in Europe?
1. Jim Messina
2. Mike McCready
Get well soon Poncho! Just gutted but hopefully shows can be rescheduled with Crazy Horse back in full working order!!
This comment has been removed by the author.
Very, very disappointed, but stuff happens. A person's well-being is more important than a missed show. Neil and the Horse play as one...sending them best wishes for a speedy recovery!
3. former US president Bill Clinton.
My best wishes to Poncho, as always. Of course, history teaches us to be ever so slightly skeptical about this "accident".
Minor injury??? You gotta be kidding!!!! 10000 guys can palyed better than Poncho and the band would still sound as Crazy Horse...play as trio!!!
sign of ages.....rust is coming for them
I love them. I am from Brazil, I bought a PLANE to see then in Liverpool.....this is just unbelivable
I thing something else has happened and we'll probably never see Neil Young & Crazy Horse again. First reaction was a blowout and Neil has ditched them mid tour, and Poncho's "mild fracture" is a cover.
Bitterly disappointed was looking forward to the gig in O2 Arena London.
Now you all hardcore fans who honor Neil for his artistic maximalism - you are now getting what you always wanted - he says "eat a peach" to all of you. Oh Neil, you are such an asshole!!!
In my opinion the tour peaked very early, before they even arrived in Europe. David Briggs assessment of the '93 Booker T tour in Shakey seemed relatable to the latter half of this tour as well, in my opinion.
I was looking forward to seeing what they had planned for the remainder of the shows, but now we will never know.
Dissapointing, but hopefully there will be a next time! And there will always be the recorded music to experience, which let us not forget can be equally enjoyable, if we allow it to.
Was due to see them on a special trip to Norway. Glad it's nothing too serious but the band will be ok for the end of August and the start of the US tour (according to Rolling Stone), that's a quick healing fracture isn't it?
"He's expected to make a complete recovery in time for the North American tour...
Neil Young and Crazy Horse are scheduled to begin their short North American tour on August 31st "
From Rolling Stone.
Oh Well!
I'll get a refund and do something else instead!
Would have been the 20+ time I've seen Neil and the consolation is that I only had 30 minutes to travel to the venue in Liverpool. Anyone who has had to shell out for travel has my sympathy.
Gutted, I had tickets for Liverpool but I just hope them four guys are okay. Those saying just replace him..... no, the horse is one for all and all for one. Get well soon poncho. Message to Neil.
Keep riding the horse, no CSNY, no Springfield, just get Poncho back to health and get back in the studio. Maybe a solo acoustic album in the meantime......please....
Yeah great excuse! I'm sure it must have been impossible to find a rhythm guitarist that knew the Neil young back catalogue.... Completely let down,
I would hate to see a Crazy Horse tour without Poncho, he is integral to the band. If indeed there is an injury, then I think they made the right decision.
Whether "It's a mild fracture" is actually manager-speak for "Neil doesn't want to do any more shows", we will probably never know for sure.
.. hope you will be able to play soon Poncho !
.. was already on the airport on my way to Copenhagen when I heard about the accident, so maybe Canada (or USA) will be my next destination instead ?
Hoping for a quick recovery for Poncho.
So sorry for all who were excited about seeing Crazy Horse. And for those that traveled long distances or had plans to, our heart goes out and hope there's a next ride on the Horse for you someday.
Get well soon Poncho.
what a joke! just play an acoustic tour until his hand gets better,i'll never get to see him play now! gutted and angry because its a rubbish excuse!
I feel sorry for all the folks who were going to see the Horse on just 1 of the dates of the next week. I will miss the shows on Pukkelpop and the O2, but I've seen them play 5 times this tour already. A little consolation. Still, I feel sad I cannot salute the guys 1 final time on what may be the last tour in Europe ever... Let's hope for the best... Poncho: you've thrown too many glasses of water over us and fucked up with that hand injury:P
Accidents can break your hand, but only love can break your heart.
Erik D
.. maybe 10.000 guys can play better (as Ariovaldo said)?
.. but Neil's usually at his best when he's playing with him (plus Ralph and Billy)with him on the stage!
As pointed out bij Neil Young in "Archives Vol 1" : FUCK THE AUDIENCE !!
If Poncho really broke his hand or not : of no importance.
If Neil decides that it is enough, he'll find whatever it takes to do what he wants.
I'm quite sure we had the last European Tour of Crazy Horse. I'm afraid the Horse will be lead to the stable, and won't come out anymore.
Too Bad. I was really looking forward to see them at Pukkelpop.
But...if Poncho really broke his hand : I'll hope he fully recovers and get well soon !!!
gotta say, this is an extremely amateur move on neil's part, and it shows that he truly does not give a fuck about his audience. for a guy who is supposed to be so loose, he can't even roll with the punches when there are thousands of people already gathered for the show. if not a three piece, at least give them an hour of acoustic stuff! sure, people who came for the horse would have been disappointed, but not more than they are at no show.
been with ya for a long time now neil. stood up for you over and over. you really let me down on this one. of course, thrasher will no doubt slam me and come running to your defense. in his eyes you can do no wrong.
How did Neil let you down? You're sad. You know full well when you buy a ticket that things can happen that make the show not go on as planned.
So many anonymous posters and then the not-so-anonymous posters who continue their feelings of entitlement. It's sad to continually read. Neil doesn't play a song you want? Bitch about it. Neil doesn't play a song you want in the exact way you want it? Bitch about it. Neil plays 2 less songs than the night before? Bitch about it. Neil plays too loud? Bitch about it. Neil doesn't look at you enough while he plays? Bitch about it. Neil plays too many guitar solos? Bitch about it. Neil doesn't change the setlist up enough? Bitch about it. Neil plays too many obscure songs? Bitch about it. Neil charges too much? Bitch about it.
Now we have - member of Crazy Horse gets injured and they have to cancel some dates? Bitch about it. Neil doesn't personally come to your house and make up for it? Bitch about it.
'Gotta look out for the broken hand'!!!!!!!!
awwwww man.
Hes an old man whos tired and over extended himself. I doubt a competent guitarist could be found willing to play the plodding and banal rhythms of the new record. Heres the finger right back at you Frank. Youre just a fuck up.
SONY dude, screw the broken hand....it's the Greedy Hand that's feelin' the pain this time !!!
Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Find someone who's turning
and you will come around.
It’s very hard for me to understand why so much vitriol is being directed at Neil without any official notice from him as to why the tours have been cancelled. One person even says he goes to see Neil Young, not Crazy Horse. “Who cares about them REALLY?” he rants.
So many of you seem to think that a replacement guitarist should be used. At such short notice, and them being on the far side of the earth this is a logistical nightmare.
Since Everybody Knows it has always been Neil Young “WITH” Crazy Horse, not Neil Young “AND” Crazy Horse. If there is a member of Crazy Horse who cannot play due to injury, illness etc, there can be no concert. There are no understudies waiting in the wings to replace them, and there never will.
Two friends, the "Arkansas Girls" were going to the UK concerts, are shattered by the cancellations, but they accept the fact that they are going to miss out this time around. All they care about is that the injury to Poncho is not too serious, and that he recovers quickly, and with no lasting after effects, and so do I.
There is no conspiracy, just an unfortunate accident.
Well said, LittleRaggie...As I stated earlier, Neil and The Horse play as one...period. There is no conspiracy...things happen...Injuries, accidents, etc. are a part of life. Of course it's disappointing to those of us who love their music and planned to see them play in Europe, but a person's well being is much more important than disrupted plans. Love to all Crazy Horse personnel and those who care about them from Arkansas...SandCowgirl (Tami C.)
I heard a perfect tour die
Into an anonymous wail
of conspirital sound
What a lucky man.
To see the band
before he broke his hand
What an angry fool
To condemn.
Neil cancelled shows in UK 2003 ? hurt is hand opening a ham sandwich!
Perhaps he got bored with the set list? It needed a freshen up.
Somebody said - "but they accept the fact that they are going to miss out this time around'. Sorry I've never seen Neil with Crazy Horse because they never come to my country. Now after 20 years I had first time a chance to be there with my 15 years old son and ... even no acoustic set. I do hope to see them in Europe 2013 or 2014 but ...
Fuck the doubters!! Neil prepares for his "shows". Do you honestly think he's going to just throw something together at a moments notice?
And do you honestly think this close to the end of the European tour, Neil is going to "excuse" himself by making up a story about Poncho? They've only been on the road for over a year now. From what I've seen, I think they would have savored every minute of it.
I would be greatly disappointed myself if I had tickets to one of these, but Jesus, show the band some respect. Here's hoping they rebound from this. Would hate for it to be over but if it is, EVERYTHING is on film. Will make for a hell of a movie.
God Bless Neil Young and Crazy Horse!
At the Bridge concert last year NYCH palyed an acoustic set of much of the current set list???? so why not just unplug it...
Music Cares but does Neil?
Daniel does not get it . Only the horse plays like the horse. Band members know they are not car parts there is a chemistry in every band each member is part of .
Tom
the searcher from Michigan
Such a dissappointment! I was standing literally in front of the stage, less then two hours until the show was to start when I heard the news. It was going to be my first time with the Horse. I had been looking forward to this since I heard they were coming to Europe.
Sure, it would have been nice if Neil had done an accoustic set, but I came for Neil Young and Crazy Horse. That's what I wanted to see and it's something completely different from just Neil Young or Neil Young with his electric Band, whom I've already seen twice.
I just really hope Poncho gets well soon and that they come back to Scandinavia. If this is their last tour I will be so disappointed if I missed it like that.
Really a bummer for all the folks who had tickets for the canceled shows.
I don't think Neil is lying about the accident. He's not afraid to say it when he's had enough and wants to do something else.
However, I do think he should have considered someone filling in for Poncho (in all honesty, really a lot of guitar players can play his parts) or playing an acoustic set. It's not the same, but it's better than nothing, right?
The official story for Neil abandoning Stills in 1976 was "throat trouble". The same year, Crazy Horse were uncemeromoniously dumped.
Jump forward 35 years, and Stills (and Richie) are abandoned again. The years in between are littered with similar stories.
This doesn't mean the current story is bogus, of course - it probably isn't. It just means people are not naive to be a little cautious!
Have to echo all of the supportive comments. Can't play this without Poncho. Disappointment is certainly understandable, but have to give Neil the benefit of the doubt. Of course here I am selfishly on the edge of my seat for the Capitol Theatre show back here in the states. Was trying to convince some folks to join me on the floor by picking up tix in the secondary market. But might have to give them the heads up that they would take a loss if only reimbursed at face. Be well Poncho!
Have to say its left a bad taste in the mouth sadly, while not ideal surely a replacement could have been found for these last couple of dates it is in all propabilty the last time they'll tour europe people would have understood why poncho wasnt there.
My idea: re-schedule the tour for next summer!
That's a good reason for recording another great album with the boys!
yeah, an entertainer wouldfind a replacement at a moment's notice.
what a trooper..the show must go on etc.
however..this is Neil..you understand and respect him by now, or you don't.
There's a whole spiritual dimension to Crazy Horse. it's the ride they take us on if we are lucky enough to feel, and perceive when to jump on.
To folks like us, your comments are absurd.
as for all the strange jealous biting trolls frequenting this space.
Not sure what trouble you, but your posts speak only of you, and nothing at all about Ny& CH.
cheers,
and so sorry for those that missed out.
God Speed to Neil and the band.
Speedy mend for you Poncho. :-)
I've been on that ride recently it looked a bit tired - all in their 60s so this has taken a heavy piece of their stamina. I'm not doubting the reason but where's the effort? An unplugged set would have done the job! What's all this spiritual journey nonsense?
Will presumably get a refund on the two tickets for Liverpool but the cost of our two nights in a hotel in Albert Dock is now gone for good. Well pissed off.
Ticketmaster, the main UK agent, have just sent ticket holders a text to say that full refunds will be paid within the next few days. So fair play to them. Still out of pocket on hotel costs for 2 nights in Liverpool.
It's true that Neil could have chosen to create a solo show on the fly...acoustic and/or solo electric...but that's not what he decided.
Neil does what he wants...nothing new there at all...
Ticketmaster De (Germany) is still selling tickets ...
In response to 8/09/2013 06:50:00 AM, Anonymous:
Neil was quit upfront with his reasons for quitting Buffalo Springfield again (writing a book etc.)
Keep Fuckin Up Poncho, Neil can continue with Stray Gators!
This is pretty insane. I've never seen this before. Band on tour, member of band breaks hand, shows are canceled, and people are mad that the tour didn't continue?
Those who think Poncho could /should be replaced should get outta here and never return. You really don't know shit about real music. I hope never ever to see one of you at a NY concert, with or without CH. You just are an insult to each and everyone.
I usually do not react this way but I really am stupified by the amount of people ON THIS PAGES that make such utterly stupid remarks. I would be happy if Thrasher would NOT react on them but DELETE them or block any of their posts or similar posts in the future. My God...
Calm down fans are just offering views on the shambles - Neil has a track record on this remember the ham sandwich incident. I read here that someone had travelled from Brazil to Europe for a show which was cancelled. We all have views having seen the shows I think it looked tired towards the end and needed some changes.
The word from Swedish media is that Poncho got his hand jammed in the bus door.
Well, I only saw the Oslo show. They all looked very inspired and in good mood. Not tired at all. Frank and Billy was joking with each other, kicking legs. Neil and Frank smiled and laughed. They ended the show with 3-4 minutes bowing, with standing applause from the public. No tension as far as I could see. Just a lot of energy, good mood, really inspiring.
Gutted as well. Booked flights and hotel for Copenhagen. Seen Neil on every tour since 1982, but this was supposed to be the first time I travelled abroad to catch him.
I played Poncho and Neil in tribute bands back in 1997-2001. Honestly if he wanted to perform a set of old classics and an extended acoustic I could have sat in for Poncho, or he could have rejigged things.
Disappointed the old man has lost some fire. He could have turned this into an opportunity to try something out. Call in Nils, CSN or whomever.
Really the show should have gone on Neil. Shame on you fella...
@ Peter D:
In a parallel universe where Neil Young plays without Poncho tonight, you decide to stay at home?
I find your remark a bit
exorbitant. Being a musician for quite some years (and having lots of experience with Neil's songs) I can tell you that Poncho isn't irreplaceable. But apparantly I don't know real music.
Of course he's the right player for Crazy Horse and he has some kind of connection with Neil that exceeds merely playing the right notes. But he's no Lofgren, Stills or even Whitten. All in all he remains Neil backup player, really. It would still be a great show with another player.
This whole discussion is quite stupid. Why not just put in 3-4 musicians that could play some NY-tunes, or at least some old songs? At least 2-3 guys on guitars, and one on drums? Come on. It's easy to understand the dissapointment of those with tickets. But this is NY & CH. CH is injured, and can't play. That's a pity, but that's the way it is.
I was in Santa Cruz the day of the ham sandwich incident ... he was supposed to play a second show at the Catalyst, the first was epic, they cancelled the show that morning ... definitely feel for those who travelled to see the boys, seems Neil's speech about 'we may not all be here together again' was prescient as usual ... reminds me why when Neil's playing live and you can actually go it makes no sense to bitch and moan about prices, song selection, venue ... just be happy when things are rolling along and don't sweat the small stuff ... just really hoping now that they'll be able to play the fall tour which is now only a few weeks away ... for those who insist Neil should have winged it, give me a break that's not his style at all ... seeing how much fun these guys were having tells me this isn't an 'Eat a Peach' moment ... just a freak accident.
@LaJohnson: You are plain wrong. They are not 'just offering views'. They are interpreting the facts, and making suggestions about supposedly unfaithful indormation willfully distributed by Neil. I call that accusing someone of lying, and doing so wihtout any proof. Like you yourself do. And you call these people 'fans'?
Don't make me laugh, my lip's dry.
I did not say one word about costs. Of course that's too bad. However, as someone said, one travel insurance is enough. So don't whine about that. If I came from Brasil, I would know what to do Grow up and calm down with your shameful accusations.
@winterlong: If you want an entertainer, go see Barry Manilow.
Peter D, you make good points; but you're opinion would be more widely taken seriously if you weren't so shameful and rude yourself. Your earlier post was hardly polite, and thus your current protesting seems comically absurd.
Please obtain some self-awareness, and practise what you preach, please. Thank you.
I was at the show in Birmingham. What a great show.
I was going to Dresden on wednesday for another taste. In the back of my mind i thought it would be the last time Neil is to be in Europe so was keen to see him and CH one last time. Really upset about the news.
I hope i am wrong and Neil and CH return to these shores once again...
Whining won't change things. Shit happens.
One small comfort I guess is that I'd been telling my bride to be that seeing Crazy Horse in Liverpool on 18 August would be the highlight of my year. Now I can safely tell her that our wedding day on 2 September will be that instead. Though she's been in tears today because she spent a lot of money buying our tickets, hotel and travel as a gift to me. And she knows how much I'd been looking forward to it. Gutted.
Why can't they replace him for a few dates? Sounds like a bunch of crap to me.
Oi..@Peter D
read the comments properly before you answer. ok brother?
this is what i wrote...
"yeah, an entertainer would find a replacement at a moment's notice.
what a trooper..the show must go on etc.
however..this is Neil..you understand and respect him by now, or you don't."
the opposite of what you thought I said.
In other words..if you want an entertainer..go find another show!
geez..bad enough around here on this without mis readings as well.
@LA Johnson..you sound bitter.
Maybe didn't get to hear the songs you wanted, or perhaps you are in a band that didn't get the support gig?
As for the guy that plays guitar, so 'knows' you could replacePoncho..
:-D !!!!!!!!
give us a break. :-)
@winterlong. Sorry, forgot a :-) to let you know I agreed your use of the word 'entertainer' as an example for the kind of 'act' that would 'replace' Poncho.
@all others I may have hurt: I apologize. Although I still think people who are insinuating things should maybe try and take a good look at the humans they (in my opinion) are bitter at, and probably (I leave this to those it may concern) also in their own heart. What is there to be found. I will do the same for myself.
As Neil sang at the start of each and every show of this tour: 'Love and only Love will endure!
... Tomorrow!'
Winterlong me not bitter - played the songs I expected - just not a fan of PP. Great to see Neil & Crazy Horse but I think we give Neil too much leeway here because of who he is. He's prone to forks in the road - as Neil said 'people get hurt', but I'm not convinced he cares about HIS fans. Being fan you take what he gives. Look at the Archives release with it's duplication etc - I'm a fan of his music but less of a fan of the man.
@Peter D. - thanks & understand. everyone's frustrated by this but will get over it. like most things.
don't let it bring you down.
Have waited so long to see Neil and especially Crazy Horse, and when i read the news last night I could not believe it. First reaction was cannot believe it, then anger then depressed. It takes me back to the time saw the brilliant studio masterpiece "Greendale" when I think Neil felt that there was no extra guitarist needed so Frank sat it out.
I just feel that it is unfortunate that he didn't do the same this time due to the unfortunate incident. I cannot understand why he cancelled to be honest. Could it be burn out. I also do not understand why he has not rescheduled for London and Liverpool with posibly fans flying in from all over the World. I also have some doubt about Frank being ready and completely recovered for the North American tour which is diue to take place pretty soon >>>apparently sources quote he will be completely recovered. Neil should have rescheduled the Europe shows and delayed the North American tour
Have waited so long to see Neil and especially Crazy Horse, and when i read the news last night, first reaction was cannot believe it, then anger then depression.
The cancellation of N&CH gigs takes me back to the brilliant studio masterpiece "Greendale" when Neil explaining the absence of an extra guitarist in the studio decided it was not essential for Frank to stand in, and a bass guitar was all was required
I just feel perhaps Neil should have carried on with the gig(s) without Frank and even if they played for say just an hour or more would have been brilliant. Sources quote Sanpedro will be completely recovered for the North American sector, which I find a bit dubious. Neil should have rescheduled the Europe shows and delayed the North American tour. I'm sorry Neil, you should have gone through with it

I am the one who gotta a plane ticket from Brazil to Liverpool to see Neil Young AND Crazy Horse. But I would not mind to seem Neil Young without Crazy Horse, or Neil Young and Crazy Horse as a trio,or Neil Young and Crazy Horse with someone replacing Poncho.......bottom line: actually I would never had bought a ticket to see Crazy Horse alone!!! Sorry folks...
Shame on me.....
Anybody who feels there's no Horse without Poncho probably said the same about Whitten prior to his death. (I actually like Whitten a lot more, and I do believe some special CH-vibe died along with Whitten)
But what about Greendale? No Poncho, but a pretty good record if you ask me.
I agree to a point, but Greendale credits Poncho with a special thank you from Neil. He was in the room during all the recording of Greendale & served as an observer who offered input, etc. Like Briggs once said, "when I'm in the room I'm in the band."
Having seen them at June O2 gig and with tickets for next week I can say I'd rather they cancelled than found a replacement. 70% of gig is new stuff and nobody could play along with Neil and do it justice. The organic oneness of the band would be lost and the Horse would be truly spooked.
Agree. Never seen fiur guys more together on stage just taking it where the music takes them. There may be better bands technically but NY & The Horse are in a different league as fara as soul is concerned.
I get that they cancelled the rest of the Euro leg. Cancelling on the night however, for a pretty minor injury, when they could have easliy put on a good show, is nothing but unprofessional and disrespectful. Look at the rest of the lineup for the night; Johnossi, Tame Impala... Most of the people there would have been there for one reason only - to see Neil.
One word gutted changed all my shifts at work please please come back soon was so looking forward to it .
