Pretty cool lead in going on right now. First they had Ella doing Too Darn Hot and then followed with Whole Lotta Love from (I think) Robert Plant and Band of Joy, which is playing right now. Wonder what else they'll play before TW Radio at 9?! Seems to be a "Love" theme going on....
Yeah, the love & Led theme going in as a runup.
Now going for agrarian theme in celebration of next week's Farm Aid.
It's plowin' time again!
Great live version of Natural Beauty...good choice! Men's Journal has a great article about the resurgence of small farms...check it out. And the latest issue of American Songwriter has a cover story tribute to Levon Helm, with a great painting on the cover and the top 15 songs by The Band.
And October is always a great month, but especially this year with lots of birthday presents for all of us Libras and all other Neil fans born in the other 11 months. Get back to the country....
Yeas, the Natural Beauty cut fits into the theme & vibe nicely.
It really is another side of Neil... maybe the real, true side?
I'm assuming everyone knows that Neil and Crazy Horse's new CD 'Psychadelic Pill' is scheduled for release in October, as is the blu-ray of 'Journeys', and Neil's memoir comes out in about a week. Looks like it's going to be a Neil Young kind of Christmas around here. Plus, there's a new blu-ray of The Beatles' 'Magical Mystery Tour'. I guess I could be the only one who's been waiting through numerous re-releases of 'Yellow Submarine' for a decent quality release of that film, but still, I'm excited for this stuff.
Oh, and for anyone's interested, Peter Gabriel is apparently touring again for the 25th anniversary of his album 'So'.
Oh, I forgot to mention, on the track list for 'Psychedelic Pill' on Amazon, I noticed a track called 'Twisted Road'--a connection to the tour supporting Le Noise? I wondered about that at the time, because it sounded like the name of a Neil Young song. But I'm still waiting for 'You Never Call' to show up on an album. I think that could be a perfect centerpiece along the lines of the title track from 'Are you Passionate?'
Thanks for everything you do, Thrasher. Is there any way to listen to previous editions of THRASHER'S WHEAT RADIO that some of us may have missed, like a sort of (ouch) "Archive" ?
