From Bridge School Benefit to Feature Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, Mumford Sons | Rolling Stone Music By Andy Greene:
Neil Young and his wife Pegi founded the Bridge School in 1986 when they became frustrated over their inability to find an adequate school for their son Ben. The annual concert helps raise much-needed funds for the school. "Neil came up with the acoustic format," Pegi Young told Rolling Stone in 2010. "It was genius. Nobody was doing that at the time. This was before MTV Unplugged or any of that. It was also a good way to keep the costs down and do something a little edgy for a lot of people and really take them out of their comfort zone."

That is an awesome lineup! Flaming Lips are great. Everybody should own Yoshimi and the Soft Bulletin. Two of the best albums ever made. Jack White is in superb form and I really like his latest. Blunderbuss.

Awesome thanks! Looks good to me.
note to Anon 1:22--don't expect a stand-up routine, but if you like bluegrass, enjoy...
Steve still gets off some good raps between tunes.
THAT'S no surprise...
Steve Martin and band played two sold out shows at the Rochester Jazz Fest this year, and smoked 'em both by all accounts. A feat only accomplished previouly by Jeff Beck in our little town. He'll bring the house down with his music AND with his banter.
I can remember seeing him as a bit player on a saturday morning kid variety show well before SNL and 'King Tut'. Played some banjo there too.
Not sure what GNR can do, nothing any of them have done has appealed to me, ever, but that's just me I suppose but Lucinda Williams will certainly be a treat.
I have a new friend with a special needs, non-oral child and see the struggle both mother and child go thru with these disabilities. It brings the need for Bridge School and the shows clearer to me and fortifies the special efforts and committments by all, especiall Peggy and Neil to this tremendous cause and need.
Lucinda could punch up her game a lil, from the past 2 times Ive seen her play this. Flaming Lips I dont really get, but Zappa I dont either. saw them with Beck. lots of furry animals and balloons. Sarah Mc is ok, mello. Jack White, we saw this coming. He'll be solid I imagine. will see if NY joins him, he usually does almost every act. Foster, 1 hit wonder, sorry boys. youre young though, who knows. Gary Clark hear many good things about him. GNR ? I tell you what, Pegi wont put up with any Axel being 2 hrs late BS. should be interesting. If only BucketHead was there. NY&CR ? electric is the way to go with these boys but they might surprise also.
Thanks SONY for the rundown.
Steve Martin's a good guy. Maybe this makes up for Jimmy Fallon canceling last year?
Maybe steve will do a Neil impression?
Can anyone dig up info on the live stream? Will there be one? Will it be for both nights?
~goodie
Is the line-up the same both days?
Thanks!
