The book cover for 'Waging Heavy Peace' by Neil Young is now up on Amazon.com: Waging Heavy Peace (9780399159466): Neil Young: Books and set for release on October 2, 2012.
The photo for the book cover looks to be from the same photography session that put Neil Young On the Cover of the Rolling Stone.
Book blurb:
"Young has consistently demonstrated the unbridled passion of an artist who understands that self-renewal is the only way to avoid burning out. For this reason, he has remained one of the most significant artists of the rock and roll era."
-Eddie Vedder

can't wait to read it, but (not that it matters) I don't care much for the title...and just as THE REAL FRANK ZAPPA BOOK was not quite an autobiography I suspect (but don't know for sure)Neil's book will be likewise...biographical details? road stories? gossip? That's what SHAKEY is for...whatever is in it,the book's saving grace is NEIL wrote it...
The title sounds some self congratulatory David Crosby tome.
I hope I like what is inside. But the book isn't important to me. The music is. Neil is a great songwriter and performer. He is a shakey movie maker. We'll see how he is at writing a book. A good book would be a pleasant bonus, but it ain't why I'm on this ride.
From No Depression, a positive review of Americana:

It'll be interesting to read an autobiography by an author who has spent his entire artistic life looking forward rather than back as he must do now. I suspect the title may have more to do with laying personal ghosts to rest, such as people burnt along the way, rather than some 'self congratulatory' view of himself.

Without the knowledge of who ever wrote the description of the contents of Neil's forthcoming biography, it's assuring to note that he was able to escape from the L.S.D. laden boulevards of L.A. even though by Neil's own admission he has never taken any hallucinogens. Whether or not the ranch employees are aware that he retired to the serenity of Hawaii is another story altogether.
Any idea what is written in his hat?
"..... Dream"
@denis - the message is "Hippie Dream".
Interestingly, this is from same photo session as cover of the 2006 issue of Rolling Stone:

Which was the same used for 2005 NBC's Saturday Night Live:

The first thing I notice about the cover is that Neil's eyes are shaded out from the hat brim. He looks like a journalist from the '40's. Makes me think of the image of Lady Justice who's eyes are blindfolded. Probably a metaphor there if you think about it.
The song "Hippie Dream" was pretty much about Crosby, but could be a metaphor again about a generation taking the "High Road" instead of a more balanced "Human Highway".
Bottom line is, Neil is Scott Young's son. And he has a lot of Rassy in him too. But I think he's go a lot more of Scott's DNA in him than anything. Hell, he even LOOKS like Scott these days!
Aside from that, the cover of "Americana" uses mid-'70's images of Crazy Horse and not the current "mature" look of the members. But Neil does that a lot with what he puts out. Hey, it's still Neil. And his career is all one....career. All we have to do is turn the page when he offers a new chapter.

I'm looking forward to to reading what he wanted to tell me. What he wanted to say here. I can wait til then to be the re*ac*tor.
@Don
Neil Young has spent his carer periodically looking back in a deeply introspective way. Just listen to the album "Time Fades Away," and the more recently completed song, "Hitchhiker."
Nice one SONY, quite right. Can`t judge a book, or an album for that matter, by the cover.
I`ve consigned my earlier comment to the waste bin, reading it again I realised it was a piece of you-know-what.
Take my advice, don`t listen to me...
Think this photo session also has been used to draw the figure that was on tour books, posters and t-shirts around the 'Twisted Road' tour.
Here's a cool link to a video I've found that shadows what the title of Neil's upcoming book is, most likely, about.

I would love to see a video soon, like this one, only about war ending today. We're still waging for peace.
Check out Honolulu in 1945 and the CARS in this video. So cool...
Roger and out.....it's still pretty heavy out here man.
