Clarence Clemons Tribute by Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen via Bob Dylan

We lost the Big Man this weekend.

Clarence Clemons, Bruce Springsteen's saxophone player -- and the heart and soul of The E St. Band -- went to the great gig in the sky and will be sadly missed by all who witnessed his giant humanitarian musicalness.

We were fortunate to see Clarence and Bruce play together before Clarence's hometown family in Norfolk, VA on the Born to Run tour in 1978. Magic, love and pandemonium come to mind of the memories as they waded deep into the crowd together to jam with their adoringly proud Clemons family.

That is so sad that Clarence Clemons has passed away, another great musician has gone from this earth. So I guess this means the end of the E Street Band?

But after the loss of Ben Keith I don`t think we`ll ever see the `Electric Band` as such reappear. Maybe a different version will emerge in time, who knows. Neil has already stated that he won`t ever perform the songs he recorded and sang with Ben with anyone else playing his part. Differnt scenario I know...let`s hope thay do continue.

The parallels with Bruce & Clarence and Neil & Ben are interesting. Glad you guys picked up on that with the paring of A Treasure post and the Clarence post.

Although it is somewhat disputed, over Cobain died, NY said something to the effect that he'd never play HHMM again. But eventually he did resurrect the song.

I would think it's more the respect and admiration Neil has for his 'bro' Ben that is now fueling his thought and feelings. How could it not. In time who knows....
