Winner Announced of the Neil Young Video Tribute
The winner of the Neil Young Video Tribute has been announced -- "One of These Days" by Michelle and Michael. A touching video above.
On October 2, 2010 Michelle Jean, from Nashville, and Michael James, from Maryland, met at a wedding in Louisiana. The two spent a wonderful evening together dancing and laughing, but have not gotten together since then. For Michelle's birthday, as well as an early Valentine's Day celebration, Michael offered the idea the two meet in New York City for a Neil Young tribute show at Carnegie Hall. He did so by writing a letter inter-weaved with 74 different Neil Young song titles and asked Michelle to sing "One of These Days." The two collaborated 600 miles apart by recording in their respective bedrooms on their iPhones.
Congratulations Michelle and Michael! Well deserved and terrific story and video.
From CityWineryNYC's Channel:
So after much deliberation, and with careful consideration, we are are excited to announce the winner of the Neil Young Video Tribute. One thing was very clear from the submissions, NY generates an incredible range of passion in his fans. Across the board the videos submitted all demonstrated the submitter's personal connection to Young's music. From the 'Little Neil' in Suktankwain's crazilly cool mini-animated road trip, to Gil's heartfelt renditions of NY classics, all were worthy. In the end however it was the One Of These Days video from Michelle and Michael that wove together over 70 NY song titles into an innovative and intelligent stream of consciousness love letter. Combined with a very cool video made us here vote this unique video the winner. So congrats Michelle and Michael, you're on your way to NYC to see The Music of Neil Young At Carnegie Hall. Special Honorable Mentions to our Top 10- You all did great jobs, and all submissions proved the timelessness of Neil Young.
Congratulations to all entries!
