Vapor Records Artists @ SXSW
Neil Young's VAPOR RECORDS is hosting an evening of artistry during SXSW:
WED. MARCH 17
MAGGIE MAE'S
323 East 6th Street
8 PM - LOST IN HOLLAND
9 PM - INFANTREE
10 PM - JASON YATES
11 PM - PEGI YOUNG
12 PM - JETS OVERHEAD
1 AM - EVEREST
From Spinner, an interview with Pegi Young by Matt Levin on her new album 'Foul Deeds' and SXSW:
SPINNER: How much is your husband involved in the creative process when you're working on an album?
PEGI: He was really not involved in the ['Foul Deeds'] record. ... He's on this record because of stuff I used from the first session [for 'Pegi Young']. He was cool, very supportive of the first one. In the studio, it's not easy for him to just sit there. ... It's natural for him to come into the studio and start calling the shots. He tries to do his own thing. I'll ask him straight up [what he thinks]. I listen. I trust these guys. They've been in the studio a lot. Made a lot of music... I'm in kindergarten. They're cutting their Ph.D's.

Thanks Rob!

I'll be there!
Love that band Everest as well as Jets Overhead.
Lost in Holland. Yes. Ever since I was born.
What ever happened to PY's new album? It should have been released a while ago? Isn't it? Argh, yes, I know were she got that from... I liked her when she performed with the legendary Ben and Rick and Anthony.
Hey Neil, I want some REAL news. You got me addicted to a regular output. What's happening?
in reply to Anon #3:
The new PY album is done with street date to be announced.
All the guys mentioned plus a special guest piano player will be at the SXSW show on Wednesday night.

ps I also like Jets Overhead and Everest.
Good luck to Pegi and the band; also to all the other peformers. Should be a tremendous show...Slainte!!! What are the odds there will be at least one Pogues cover played that night?! How about "Pair of Brown Eyes"?!
Looks like another wonderful time is shaping up for SXSW...wish that I could be there. I see where Alejandro is playing three nights from March 19 to 21, with the final night at Continental Club. Have a great time all you lucky folks in Austin.
Sorry to be missing the IllumiNEILti in Austin this go around but I don't want them all to catch my bug and get sick. So I shan't be extending hospitality to the team this go around.....Even though my house is usually the best restaurant in downtown austin :-)
My best wishes for great SX to all!
I musta been all smoked up along the way cause I never before heard of Neil Youngs 'Vapor Records' label. When did that materialize?
Vapor Records?
Been around for 15 years or so.
Well, who was the surprise piano player after all? Chronicle reports that Neil was a no-show (as usual, and good for him!).
I hope some of you were lucky enough to meet the band (and crew!)
:-)
LRR,
Heard the guest piano player was Spooner Oldham.
