Wolfmother Covers "Don't Let It Bring You Down" (Neil Young)
Wolfmother will be performing at this year's Bridge School Benefit Concert. We're not familiar with the Australian band so here's a clip of Wolfmother covering Neil Young's "Don't Let It Bring You Down". Recorded on September 3, 2009 at SPIN in New York City.

Nice, but he should learn the lyrics first!

Hey, aside from Bridge, this seems to be a "quiet time" for Neil - gets me hopeful that he's working on some new material (maybe with Booker T, or the Horse?) - or maybe he's consulting with Joel on some good BD-live downloads? What is going on these days????
Wolfmother are an Aussie band and have only released 1x EP and 1x album I believe, plus they have a new album due to drop any day. Have copped a bit flak previously as Led Zeppelin style rip offs. Their first recordings were very much 70's rock style. Only one perosn remains from the the original band , but he was lead singer/songwriter/guitarist .The other members are all new. A friend of mine used to be in another band with their new drummer for about 10 years, that was a hip hop group. The drummer was in a lot of hard rock/metal/grunge bands in the 90's before hip hop though and is a bit of a powerhouse.
Didnt think the version was too bad, everyone forgets lyrics. Noticed a story on the web yesterday.Jonathan Demme said that during filming LAH for Trunk Show Neil forgot the lyrics/or didnt get to the microphone in time to sing them and he recorded that part. They spoke about it afterwards and Neill specifically requested it stay in the the movie.
Also mentioend they are going to work on another movie - Demme wantas a trilogy of concert movies and seems Neil is on board.
Mick Aust.
Just on what mick said, Wolfmother are an Aussie band with a brand new lineup. In their old line up, the mother had some good tunes, especially "woman", "white unicorn" and the "joker and the thief"...worth getting a hold of for these songs alone!
down under dip
Mick, reminds me of how, in Rust Never Sleeps (the concert movie), Neil forgets a couple lines of Thrasher, and almost grinds to a halt. He squints and furrows his brow, shakes it off, and starts again, right from where he left off.
I thought that, while the hickup undermined the performance/feeling of the song itself, it provided a great glimpse into Neil's humanness, and remains an important few seconds of the movie to me.
There are no mistakes, only happy accidents. And I think Neil gets the fact that it's important to retain the reality that nobody is perfect.
And from a guy who regularly lambasted his backing musicians if they made a single mistake during performances, it's even more telling somehow, that he makes this glaring error in the middle of such a brilliant, near perfect set.
It makes it better.
Hey Matthew, "Happy Accidents"..I like it!!Another expression that comes to mind desribing Neil's life/career is "Serendipity"..Look it up... I luv this word..and not just because it's got 'dip' in the middle of it!!!
