Sweet!! I hope When You Dance, which was soundchecked, makes it to Aberdeen with the rest of this amazing set!! Please Neil!!
Harvest Moon did he play. All the thinking and wishing fell into place. Which is good.
Harvest Moon was played for Liza (winner of the Johnny Magic video contest who's husband died a few weeks ago) and her family.

Before launching into the song Neil said something like "we heard about it on the internet, this is for you.... hope we don't mess it up".
So he DOES read Thrasher's Wheat!!
Liza's searchin' for her heart of gold..
...And Neil was told!!
Thanks Neil!
Appreciative Dip
Yes, Neil played "Harvest Moon" for me and words aren't enough to describe my feelings yesterday evening......
Neil, since all the words I can think about don't seem enough, all I say to you is:
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR PLAYING THIS SONG FOR ME AND MICHAEL
Also thank you to Pegi and the rest of the band, of course.....
I was standing in the second row right in front of Pegi and I raised my arm, to show that I was there and listening......
When "Comes a time" started I called my boys at home, because it was one of Michaels favorite songs, and they were listening at the cell phone. When the song was over, I was thinking, maybe this could be the place for Harvest Moon and then I saw that Larry brought a different gitarre, but Neil said something to him and went to the micro and said:
"There's a young lady out there tonight and we read about what happened on the internet....he paused a little....and said:
THIS SONG IS FOR YOU
He didn't say: don't mess it up, at least I didn't hear him say that.
Tears were rolling down my face and sadness and so much happiness and thankfulness at the same time were in my heart.....
And I felt Michael was with me at that moment and I was so glad, that I was there.
I also want to thank my friends for their support, especially Albert from K-town and Albert from Hülchrath Castle and all my friends from the German HH Mailinglist.....
Love, Liza
Liza, I'm actually reading your post with a tear in my eye.
..that is just beautiful!

Hello Liza.
I was also there yesterday. And seeing him play Harvest Moon and knowing your story is unbelievable.
it made a special night even more special and I am glad that you could be there to hear it.
I was there, too, and it was a brilliant concert (my first NY concert), although not everything was perfect - the fastening of a piece of cloth on the stage took most of the time and delayed the show. Moreover the supporting act wasn't very interesting as his music was too slow.
Neil started with the song I was hoping for, a rather slow but even more powerful “Hey Hey My My”. The first chords already sent shivers down my spine and when he sang his famous lines about burning out, the crowd went wild – more or less. ;-)
The next highlight was “Are You Ready For The Country?” with Ben Keith’s roaring slide guitar and Neil at the piano. “Pocahontas” was messed up a bit when Neil sang the penultimate verse first. Some fans at my side were confused, one asking “What is he doing?”, but the song was strong and very hard. “Words” and “Cinnamon Girl” were as good as always, typical classics. After that, Neil started the country part of the concert. “Don’t Let It Bring You Down” was very good as the crowd was singing along every word. The country songs were very nice, but at least “Old Man” was missing. Liza’s request for “Harvest Moon” was fulfilled, but indeed Neil was wondering if they would mess it up, what they didn’t do, luckily.
Now was the time for the best song of the evening, a song nearly 40 years old, but still as fresh as if it had just been written: “Down By The River”. The band (or better: the main quartet) was so tight and it sounded so good, I just raised my hands to thank Neil over and over again. But the power wouldn’t stop. “Get Behind The Wheel” was short and snappy, but the real Neil came back with his hymn “Rockin’ In The Free World”. The crowd ate it up and went crazy, finally. The song didn’t seem to stop as Neil played many false endings, but the inner city curfew came nearer and nearer, so he had to make an end. I wished for “Like A Hurricane” but Neil took the shorter encore and shredded “A Day In The Life”. When I saw the guitar strings flying around I knew that this was it. The crowd was asking for more, but they went out of the venue to the sounds of “Greensleeves”, still stunned, not believing what this man can do. His power is just amazing.
Liza, our hearts are with you.
Your friends from the [hh-de]
It was agreat show last night, and especially for Liza : I understood immediately Harvest Moon was for you. I hope you got some comfort and strength out of it, and I have to admit : my thoughts were with you during that song.
neil added : i hope we don't screw this one.
Liza, if you're interested, I'll mail you some pictures of the show.
And as an afterthought, this must to be told : NEIL YOUNG IS A GREAT MAN !!!
Hey Lisa-that must have been very special for you and an honour. Something you will always remember!

thank you all Alberts, its all one song. And thank you Liza and Michael, it's one and only one thinking.
Luc, you are so right and it is good, that you write it:
Yes, Neil is a great man!
BBQ.Master and Luc, I must have overheard this sentence, thanks for telling me about it. No, they didn't screw it up at all, it was just wonderful...
Thanks for all the sympathy I feel in the postings.....
Love, Liza
Somebody just posted this video on YouTube, now I can hear it too:

Neil Young: A class act and a big heart. Very moving. Kinda confirms the whole thing.
still me, Liza.
Do you know what I'm thinkin' about?
I think that maybe, "someday", Neil itself will post something here. Now we know he reads. Now he knows we read.

Dear Liza - I am just so touched that Neil did this for you, what a totally awesome thing. So glad you made the decision to go after all! Just shows that Neil really DOES care about his audience.
Love Jil
Liza, my feelings as well were with you yesterday, specially during Harvest Moon, I hope Neils music will help you along too.Take care.
Concerning the concert I was AMAZED about all (what energy!!!) but most by the sound of Neil's voice, it was so GREAT as ever, I saw him in Barcelona on this tour (open air too, my first!) and I LOVED the show, but sometimes you could barely hear his voice, and I was in the first row as here.I think the acoustic was much better here in Cologne, with a special roof over the audience.I missed Hurricane too, the "bird" was down and seemed to be ready, (and hundreds of others!) but I would love any setlist Neil plays, He gives HIMSELF SO MUCH every time, THANK YOU NEIL & BAND!
Peace and Love to all of you!
Liza sorry to hear of your loss . Glad Neil could play the song for you. Glad you had a great night at the concert .Best of wishes to you and yours . Neil music is powerfull. I known that since i was 15 in 1967. Once again my condolenceis .

BBQ.Master said, that the support act wasn't interesting. I think,
Wolfgang Michels and his band as
well his set were well received
and he got a lot of applause.
Seeing him in Hamburg last year
and before in Erfurt this was
probably his best gig. A bit laid back, o.k., but perfect for an open air in the sun (Neil needs no heating up). Besides
perfect supporters (!)like Alanis Morisette and Heather Nova
1995/1996 (or vice versa) I've seen a lot of disappointing support
acts since 1982.
The Tanzbrunnen ist just an average
location, but the sight at the river Rhine with the beautiful Cathedral on the other side is perfect.
Neil again great. At last a song
from Fork In The Road, it's an almost perfect album for the road.
Blasting it, while flying along
the Autobahn after the show.
My 20th show. Meeting a lot of
friendly people down the road.
Dieter
He never ceases to amaze, does he?
Love Steve & Danielle
