Starting with two covers? Brave. Is that two fingers to the folks who said his openers at Isle of Wight were too obscure?
In any case, the setlists from this current tour are looking sublime. If Neil was doing requests, I'd be yelling out for Cowgirl, but a set like this would satisfy me every time. Roll on Glastonbury.
Powerful Neil in good shape. He looked a lot younger than 2008. Although the sound in the beginning wasn`t too good and the show was a little short, it was worthwhile. Thanks Neil and be back soon.
Berlin 2009
Seems he's changing the setlist or at least the order quite a lot on this tour. Looking forward to Dublin on Sunday. My wife is just worried that Old Man was dropped from the set as its her fave song...
Wow what an incredible set, the pace must have been intense from the start. I would love to see Neil do 'All Along the Watchtower' please play that at Nottingham Neil! After seeing Neil at Manchester Apollo last year I do not think anything will top that. A small, intimate venue which suited the acoustic set and then the noise was immense when the electric band came out. Neil did nearly 25 songs that night. Although this set would have me completely loaded. Please Neil do a similar structured show at Nottingham to what you did in Berlin. Although do something obscure, 'piece of crap', 'bandit', 'sleeps with angels', 'Mideast Vacation', 'Homegrown','60 to 0' or 'crime in the city'! Surprise Us!
Looking forward to the Aberdeen gig.Play what you want,Neil !!

A Day In The Life &
Down By The River absolute highlights. Only thing was he didn't talk to the crowd. Not one word! Is this usual?
My prediction
With Chrissie Hynde on the bill at Hyde Park I reckon she'll join Neil on stage for a couple of songs - a la Road Rock - All Along The Watchtower and ......
... and as for Neil not saying anything, yep that's not unusual especially at festivals and big arena gigs. . . always good to here some thoughts expressed though. . . at Hammersmith last year he explained how 'Homegrown' could be about weed or maybe vegetables or maybe biofuel. . . and he introduced 'Spirit Road' with the words 'This ones really heartfelt' at the Hop Farm (before adding 'Well, they all are really!')
. . . and I've got a few bootleg recordings with some rather naff comments too but I won't repeat them ........

I was lucky to be in Berlin and got a walk up ticket for this show. I've seen him twice before and this was the best he's been yet. If anyone else was at the show, could you tell me who the opening German act was? I wouldnt mind picking up one of their CD's but didnt catch the name of that band.
thanks,
I was there as well and I really loved it!
It was my first show and it was a bit louder and heavier than I had expected, but it was great, indeed. I was missing like a hurricane and old man, but the other harvest-album songs and his incredible version of pocahontas made me really glad.
I don't think it was the last time I was him.
The German suppot act was Wolfgang Michels.
Hey Thrash, This is just a suggestion, but what if you just have a separate thread running parallel, for "off Topic" subjects or news that the rest of the "Wheaties" might wanna share with the rest of the "family" instead of having to find a subject in the "archives" (topical)
that might be pertinent to something you might wanna talk about. That way we're not breakin in to continuity of a current subject or Neil event? I'm not tellin' ya how to suck eggs or anyhing but I just wanna appease your comments policy.
Just a question Thrash, What is it when you get a prompt when trying to go on to the site saying,"temporarily unavailable because of band width limitations",..that hasn't anything to do with my increasing 54 yr old girth has it.?
Wondering Dip
dd,
why don't you email me and we can discuss?

What an incredible story : I missed Neil in Paris a few days before, but I was in Berlin on the 16th, without knowing he was playing there that night!
I bought my ticket the very hour before the show, and it was great.
He didn't speak to the crowd, and looked a bit anger (he exploded his stringd on the second song -what a cover of "day in the life"!!).
I never saw him before, his soli sounded allmost like the ones on "Weld" -such a great moment when he sang "down by the river!
Go on Neil, the french people travelling in Berlin will allways be here for you !
