Neil Young Stole My Dog
After posting the video last month forNeil Young You're My Hero, we received all sorts of Neil tribute songs.
Here's another one we found pretty amusing, "Neil Young Stole My Dog".
Comedy musical parody of Neil Young's style of singing telling a story that is loosely based on true events.
Thanks OuthouseFilms's!

How cruel! Never would expect something like this from Neil. Poor Buddy. Does anybody know all the names of Neil's dogs? There's a great version from one of the BSB shows were he's singing a very long story about his dog Elvis. Does anybody know from which BSB this is? Like to hear that one again.
Some sad news:
Dewey Martin dies at 68; drummer for Buffalo Springfield
Dewey Martin, drummer for the short-lived but long-resonating rock band Buffalo Springfield whose career after the group split never ignited like those of his former band mates Neil Young and Stephen Stills, has died. He was 68.
He was found dead Sunday by a roommate in his Van Nuys apartment, longtime friend Lisa Lenes said Thursday. The cause of death has not been determined. "We believe it was natural causes," Lenes said, adding that he had suffered health problems in recent years and performed publicly only sporadically. B.S.M.

Dewey Martin
Fuckin 2009 year.
I will truly miss Dewey Martin. Loved the way he was always SMILING while he was drumming. He must have really been enjoying himself, as we the listeners were. Carol in Michigan
On the song “Buffalo Springfield Again”, from his Silver & Gold album [2000], Young sang of how he’d “Like to see those guys again/And give it another shot.” With Palmer’s death in October 2004, and now Martin’s, that, sadly, will now never happen.
Don't forget John Martyn-- excellent british folk singer. One of the best. He passed away Jan the 29th, age 60.

This is sad news ... Hopefully this will remind all of us how fortunate we are that Neil survived the anuerism and that at 63 he's fit and better than ever.
Newsflash,
Your dog is living like a "king" on Neil's ranch...Long may he run!
Thrash,
I find this very very distatseful (sic). Would you please edit or remove!.....King

Isn't it amazing what some people find distasteful thrash. The diversity of people's ethics and morals always intrigues me... Some people just take life sooo seriously.. chill out and enjoy the ride..I wish I'd known about this site 13 years ago, it makes my day!!

Thrasher,I was fortunate enough to read Dr Dip's exclusive interview with Neil from his Australian tour (version 2)
before you edited it/deleted it. What is your problem?I for one found it quite amusing and really appreciate that Neil has a sense of humour. The part of the interview that you deleted was quite funny, especially if you were at the Sydney Entertainment Centre as I was. As Dr Dip asked Neil "You certainly had the shits about something". In Australia, that expression means that he was annoyed ,not that he had diarrhea or anything. And as for the Viagra comment, that was a funny response from Neil and in its context was quite amusing. Let the other bloggers decide what is "distasteful". like The good dr, i too enjoy your site..don't muffle us bloggers..please..thanxs
hey faithful thrashers
I came across an alternate version of "Birds" posted on youtube. Is this some kind of leak from the Archives?
Never heard it before...

Happy birthday Dangerbird, if that's you!
I don't know the reliability of this, it came from a friend of mine I trust who works for well known Aussie tv network. It came his way as a NY young fan. I don't know if it's true or not but was apparently given at a recent interview.
Looks like It's either a from the album or an early lyric to fork in the road or perhaps something entirely different. Like i say i don't know, not trying to be cryptic, just protecting my friend and may well be bullshit...
Long Road
Now the sun is up
The morning is cold
I've been driving all night
On this dark road.
Well I've learned new ways
I'm no technophobe
All the luddites here
Turn bullshit to gold.
Now the sun will shine
And the birds will sing
But time will run out
It won't mean a thing
The landscapes changing
And the seas will rise
The cities we built
Will grow and then die
But no one listens
To a words I say
I'll keep on talking
Till they take me away
CHORUS
Now you know, I always take the long way round,
Hands on the wheel keeping to my sound.
There's a thousand ways
To get your voice heard
But not enough years
And not enough words
Now the banks are bust
The farms closing down
Everyones walking
Looking at the ground
Moneys coming in
But mores going out
It's an ill equation
We don't think about
CHORUS
Now old uncle bob
Is singing for coke.
No sacred thing left,
It's all such a joke.
The times are changing
A dark road ahead
Your old roads are aging
Who heard what he said?
Now I've got a joke
That's doing the rounds
About an old man
Whose standing his ground
CHORUS
Now from where I stand
The temples been sold
I've turned over tables
But descent is old.
The lines of the poor
Are stretched round the block
Each wait their turn
Gotta see the doc.
The man in the house
Wants to get things done
Lets enjoy these hours
Living in the sun.
CHORUS
Not the CIA
And your MTV
And working together
So nothing is free
The television
Is a morbid crime
It comes in the night
And leaves with your mind
Well I'll sell my shit
You can download it
If you don't like it
You can delete it
CHORUS
Ha, Ha, it's a hillarious version of some kind of FITR sound-a-like. Well done. Please record the song Neil!

Thrasher
instead of glorifying a dumb parody about Neil and someone stealing a dog, how bout posting something about the passing of one Dewey Martin?
if you didn't know, he was the drummer in Buffalo Springfield, a band that helped launch Neil's career.
Maybe a photo and a small RIP tribute?
I think we owe Dewey at least that much!
Come on Thrasher, you're better than that!
Thrasher is currently traveling without his laptop and with very limited access to news and no access to the Web. I know he regrets he has not posted a tribute to Dewey Martin. He'll be back soon.
Thrashette
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Stephen Stills, Neil Young and Richie Furay have issued a statement on their former Buffalo Springfield band mate Dewey Martin, the group's drummer, who died last week at age 68 at his home in Van Nuys.
"Dewey wasn't intimidated by any of us; he was the older guy in the group and helped glue the band together," said the statement issued Sunday and signed by all three musicians. "He had that strength. The rest of us were all still babies, and just starting out in a band. We had a lot to figure out. But Dewey had been around, playing on sessions and working with a lot of great singers. Plus he was one hell of a drummer."
source: LA times
Was that the extent of Neil's, Stephen's and Richie's tribute to Dewey?
If so, they would have been better off saying absolutely NOTHING. That statement reeks of a back-handed compliment.
It's obvious that Dewey didn't endear himself to his Springfield bandmates over the prevailing 40 years.
To Dangerbird & Dr Dip,
Regarding the editing of the interview.
Please provide a citation that that was a legitimate interview. When I read, while I found it amusing, I did not think it was an actual interview but a parody. Hence the edit of distastefulness rather than wholesale deletion.
If you can prove it is legitaimate I'll run whole thing as a separate post.

First of all.....Thanks for your support dangerbird.
Ok, OK.. you win thrash.. There was a bit of poetic licence there I've gotta admit..that bit about usin' the harp seal oil mixed with the pigshit to run the ol' hearse.. he didn't actually say that in the interview. He only ever used the pigshit..that I'd admit was a bit below the pelt!..I've been citated!
luv dip

PS I am the Danger Bird whose birthday is the 7th :)
Hey thrasher..Its Neil here..he he.
Just lettin you know I've known Dr Dip from when he was about 16.Met him after my gig at Massey Hall back in '71. He helped me out when I had my brace on. If I remember right he was sittin' in the front row and I dropped my pick and he picked it up for me. We've been friends ever since even though he was pretty pissed off I didn't come to his 21st.Anyways,we've been taken' the piss out of each other ever since.
The interview is legit...ask him to send the rest of it to you.It was inneresting catchin' up with him in Australia I sorta "opened" up to him and told him stuff that I hadn't even told Jimmy about. he,he.
Shakey
Hey you guys who doubt Dr Dip get a handle on yourselves. Dr Dip is legit. He taught Neil to surf the Wanda Superbank on his 9 foot six mal when he was down under touring 30 odd years ago. Dip and Neil are two kindred souls on a cosmic trip. They share the same mantra and had a brief but fulfilling love affair that inspired Neil to write the lyrics of "Southern Man" which are vivid, describing the love towards Dr Dip in Sydney's South as perceived from the viewpoint of a Canadian. In the song, Young tells the story of a Southern man (Dr Dip) and how he mistreated his waves. Young pleadingly asks when will the South "pay them back" for years of abuse and poor surfing.
Where the initial inspiration for the song came from is very clear, it stemmed from an incident in the surf at Cronulla which Young visited in 1969. As he was having a surf with Dr Dip, two local men came up to him, insulted his manhood, and laughed at him him because he had a long board.
So cop that you nay sayers. Never doubt the Dip. His words should be put into song and revered just like Neil's. Dr Dip is a friend of mine and an advocate of "the longer the board the better the surfer school" that Neil ascribed to.
To conclude I must draw your attention to the song "Four Strong Winds" written by Ian Tyson in the early 1960s. The song is based on the life of Neil and Dr Dip lover / surfers, forced to move where open minded surfers can be found, but its theme is the sometimes temporary nature of human relationships.
Do not expect to enjoy Dr Dips reflections if you keep "dissing" him.
Hey Mortsediw,
I'm really pissed with you as I told you about those early relationships with Neil in strict confidence! How dare you out me like this! Now I've lost all my credibility on this blog site.
P.S. I've NEVER RIDDEN A LONG BOARD IN MY LIFE....AND YOU KNOW IT!
