Cover Art: Fork In The Road by Neil Young
Here's the cover art for Neil Young's new Fork In The Road. The song is listed as [EXPLICIT] on Amazon.com so kids be sure to check with your parents before you download this MP3 and permanently damage yourself.
Besides, it sounds like shit anyways.

So this pretty much confirms that the Archives are being pushed back then?
Archives Guy, we're all aware that the date has been delayed again but PLEASE could you give us an exact date now? Also, is the UNCUT info accurate?
Cheers.
You are boring with the archives, always the archives. We can wait for them, right now it's time for new Neil material. New things are always more exciting.

Haha... Clearly you are either a new Neil fan or you've just never heard any of the new stuff.
Clearly, YOU havent heard fork in the road. It rocks. Give God a chance. Jesus!
I thought that towards the very end of the FITR video that Neil's head was pictured at the bottom right corner of the video and really resembled the crashed to the floor look from American Stars and Bars album.
PS. and I already have the Archives. It's made up of about 100 bootleg tapes.

I never thought I was a total optimist. I really think the Archives will be released on February 24. Fork in the Road will be first on Feb 3, but I believe the Archives will be mailed out this year. What do I know, I have always rooted for the underdogs. (Thank God I do not bet on sports)
" Haha... Clearly you are either a new Neil fan or you've just never heard any of the new stuff."
I'm a Percival and CH fan since I was 5 Dude, and I'm 24 now...
But I think the archives can wait until neil stops making new things. There’s plenty of time to dust off old tracks later, for now appreciate this living legend - he still has so much to say.
And I dig "Singing a song", "Off The Road", "You Don't Need a Map" etc. It's not Sleep with Angels, and so ?
- in reply to questions here:
The Archives are NOT coming out on 2/24.
We asked the suits to tell Amazon to remove that release date on their website and they haven't done so yet. I'll bug them again today.
We don't have an EXACT date yet...sorry. Believe me, when we have it locked, we'll shout it out to the world.
The good news is that the Archives are finished and ready to go. As you have read and maybe seen in a recent NY interview, NEW always trumps OLD. It has always been that way with us and that's why the Archives set has been worked on and abandoned many times over the years. What is different this time is that the set has been completed.

more on the Archives-
Sorry to be off topic here, but the NYA pre-order page should return soon, corrected and with more purchasing options other than just the 3 editions of the set.

We've still got you Archives Guy!
thanks!
New is always better.

Thanks for the update Archives Guy, I've waited almost 22 years since I first read about Decade 2 (as it was described then) so a few more months won't harm.
A track listing would be great though (hint, hint).

Thank you, Neil Young Archives [GUY EDITION]!
To Unnamed Guy [CYNIC EDITION]: as a guy who is both a hardcore fan (for better or worse... sorry, exes) who has also heard every available recording of every new song, I just gotta say that you don't speak for me. I agree with you to a point, in that I don't like ~2 of the songs, but I am more than happy to take some minor songs surrounded by diamonds. Isn't that how it's always been? Has anyone ever argued that "'Til The Morning Comes" or "Are You Ready For The Country?" is his most important contribution to pop music?
If he's not going through the creative process, we won't get any mediocre songs OR our next life-altering song (like "No Hidden Path"). And, to him, putting out piping hot new songs is part of the process.
Hi Archives Guy (a rather unpersonal name for someone who has given us so much important information yet - in true Neil fashion: Thanks!)
Now that i notice you still follow this blog maybe you can help me (us) out on a few things:
- the 'rare' bonus single of Neil & The Squires that is (was) promised with pre-orders thru NeilYoung.com. How rare is it? And us poor Europeans, how can we lay our hands on that one?
- considering 'new is always better': any chance of more 'YouTube' video's of the new album?
(And although I hate to repeat others: everybody that is complaining in whatever way please tell me: When you were born in this life, was there anybody that gave you a cheque for (unlimited amount of) NY-music? Did the artist ever promise to deliver you what you want? I don't think so. So consider everything a bonus or start looking for something / someone else.
I watched the BBC documentary yesterday: "all I care about is the music".
That's good enough for me.)

You don't suppose that the last three releases from the archives (Sugar, Massey, Filmore) were released in the 'mixed' order that they were as some sort of foreshadow to what might happen with subsequent volumes of the "Archives" collection? It seems like no coincidence that "Time Fades Away" didn't make it in Volume One. Why do I see Volume Three coming before Volume Two? (Assumming Volume One gets here...)
I've got an idea... How about Neil and his Electric Band record "Time Fades Away II" - New always comes before old! hehehehehe.
P.S. I can't wait for "Fork in the Road" !!!
Ontario, Canada
We've waited long enough for the archives what difference does a couple more weeks/months make? We'll get them when neil is ready. Untill then as long as he has new albums coming and live shows planned then who cares?
I know...you'd think that people would be happy with the news that YES the Archives are in fact completed and REAL! I cant wait...but if I had to make a choice and could only have one at a time....I'd choose FORK IN THE ROAD first over the archives! I wanna hear the new stuff and yes I did see Neil at MSG when he played a ton of the new material (loved it) and I am NOT a new fan. The new stuff IS MOST important. I cant wait for the archives but I would rather hold a new Neil Young Album in my hands...the old stuff is...well old! It's made it this far so I doubt it will be going anywhere any time soon. THANK YOU ARCHIVES DUDE! AND THANKS NEIL!!! KEEP THE NEW TUNES COMING AND PLEASE DONT EVER STOP!
Archives guy: will fork in the road be available on Vinyl? Also will it be available in the same Blueray format as the archives?
Ha..."New IS always better"....
Those are words my ex wife lives by....but I do agree in terms of Neil.
New Neil, old Neil, anything Neil...it's all I ever buy! I'm very happy with anything that Neil is involved with, ANYTHING!
Who are the two guys making off with the T.V. Thanks zejt

Dr Dip here, Newsflash! Neil has decided to do a rap album with eminem and 50 cent. It's to be called "The Dead Geffen's" I've seen the set list, looks interesting: here's a few of the songs... Get down by the river,
Keep on rappin in the free world, Corlez the rapper,Don't let it get you down yo its only hoochie burning, after the oldrash, brother earth, and the highlight...light a bong with a great newie... fucked in the road..can't wait!
Archives Guy,
What about Toast?
Will it then be:
1. Fork In the Road (March)
2. Archives (May?)
3. Toast (Summer/Fall?)
Martin
Why can't you just release everything?
cant wait to hear fork in the road...i can wait for the archives a few more months...i remember all the insane slagging of by many rusties when they heard neils last true masterpiece..CHROME DREAMS 2..which for my money is a wonderful record..im a massive collector , even have the danny and the memories 7 inch single and have bought every single neil lp on the day of release, so dont slag me off..ive even sold neil and his band copies of his own vinyl lp,s...and the new stuff has really grown on me;;light a candle..the road>??...fork in the road all sound great..i take this lp as being one of neils quirky little detours..like trans..or greendale,,or living with war..and i love those "quirky little weird ones"that neil tosses out...im really sick to death of "fans'endlessly slagging neils new stuff..i mean praire wind..silver and gold ..brilliant
Well, after all the delays and frustrations I've come around to Neil's way. I will be thankful for whatever we get, & when we get it.I'M LEARNING THE ART OF PATIENCE and Neil is the Guru of Rock n Roll !!
Thankyou very much Neil for all the great stuff you do,musical & otherwise.Thankyou as well Archives Guy for your patient instruction. My Blu Ray player is getting itchy feet though!
LOL neil BABY!!!
I love the part right after "keep on bloggin'" when you put on that Blago wig. You da best!
"I've been working on it for three years. There were 397 unreleased tracks I
had to go through, but it's all in order now. Some of these are songs that have
been released in different versions, but not many. There are a couple that are
the original takes of songs that I did again later. But most of the material is
unreleased stuff no one's heard. I think that it's possible that it will now
surface towards the end of the
year." NY 1992 interview
Thanks Archives Guy for the information. Glad I don't bet on things I have no control over. I like the new stuff. Actually I am a big fan of the underrated albums of Neil's long career. I always wanted to do Sample and Hold in a slow loping pace and give the audience a new feel to the song. Got to do what the muse tells you to do or you just stay in the same place like an old rusted out car on the side of the road. As long as Neil's muse gives him inspiration to keep him going in new territories, I'll be a happy guy.
