Cover for Sugar Mountain Live
Here's the cover of the latest Performance Series release of Sugar Mountain Live which will released Nov. 25. While it is still undetermined as to exactly what the release will contain, last month we speculated that the source and setlist would be Canterbury House, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 9th & 10th November 1968. A 40th anniversary release, if you will.
From Ghosts On The Road - Neil Young In Concert:
"Five of the six sets were recorded and the live version of Sugar Mountain that has appeared on the B-side of many of young's singles comes from November 10."

I like the cover and the 'Sugar Mountain' on Decade which is from one of these shows. I can't wait for this to come out and to see Neil live in January. He was good back then and he's still good now.
I am very excited for this! And if you look closely it says Disc 00...so perhaps there will be another one (Disc 01) that will be released later...(the Riverboat perhaps?).
The performance series is probably my favorite thing of the archives because it's mostly complete live recordings which is Neil at his best!
What ever happened to Live at the Riverboat? Wasn't that supposed to be the next PS release?
I hope a trailer will come out soon. If it does it will probably be from 1997 again lol
Wonderful cover! For sure Pegi will love this cute image of the young Young. First of all I really had to laugh a lot since this is NYA PS 00. So funny. I was pretty sure this one would replace the Riverboat, so he could save that one for the Archives. But, no way, just call it 00. One of these Shakey jokes you always have to be aware of. It's also a CD / DVD set again, so not a double cd.
Great cover, really looking forward to this one.
It seems a bit surprising at first that he would put out both this and Riverboat as PS, since the shows were only three months apart (11/68, 2/69). But there were six new songs in Toronto - "I've Loved Her So Long," "Cowgirl," "DBTR," "Losing End," "1956 Bubblegum Disaster" (!) and "Whiskey Boot Hill" - and 21 total songs to work with between the Ann Arbor and Riverboat shows, so I suppose you could manipulate them into two discrete (if short) setlists. (Then again, four of the 21 also are on Massey Hall, but who's counting?) Plus, that would make one PS for each year so far(Ann Arbor 68, Riverboat 69, Fillmore 70 and Massey 71).
has the Canterbury House bootleg ever been release in Bootleg format? That would be pretty cool if this release was a NEW to everyone's ears. Both Filmore East and Massey Hall were widely circulated as bootlegs, though in inferior quality.
So, will we have to buy all 3 (or possibly 4) PS discs as part of the Archives Vol. 1 release, or will there be a version with "slots", as previously reported?
Yup. I'm excited that they found another way to milk the fan base by purchasing the same material 2x.
With this release, and most likely (like the Fillmore) with the Archives, as it's delayed.
Nice artwork, though.
Will all of these recent concert releases (Fillmore, Massey & this new one) be released on the Archives whenever that comes out?
Thrasher, there's LincVolt live video stream! B.S.M.

I'm totally excited for a new performance series release and am sure this will be great. On the other hand I will be absolutely fucking furious if they are all included in the archives. Neil can be as cryptic as he wants, but unless he clarifies this issue; the buck stops here.
awesome news. it is much appreciated hearing some good news after the inevitable, but still saddening delay of the archives. this looks like yet another classic slice of neil.
Canterbury House has not been released as a bootleg as far as i know to the poster above. 1 track from the shows - sugar mountain - appears on Decade, and in my opinion it's the best take that's out there.
More here on U.S.A Today site. According to them it won't be part of Archives and mentions a few highlights.

NY has been saying for a long while that Massey, Fillmore and Riverboat will be part of vol 1.
Sugar Mountain wont be part of vol 1.
The idea of a bunch of demos that Neil recorded as a teenager in 1963 is barely enough to get me out of bed, let alone con me out of a huge wad of cash. Bring on the drug-induced 1970's - damned if my record collection needs another solo acoustic version of "I Am a Child."
There's just no pleasing some people is there? And when they do complain they tend to get the facts wrong. I for one am looking forward to this release.
Hey guys,
Look what I found on amazon.

Well, the anonymous poster above who didn't want another live acoustic version of "I Am A Child" will be happy to see it's not on this new release. Along with "Flying On The Ground Is Wrong" and the mysterious "Number One Song rap", it's the only song played at Canterbury House to be left off the album. Looking forward to this one....

This one comes from Undercover. B.S.M.
Maybe a trailer or audio track will come out soon as a preview. Hope its not Sugar Mountain though, because I've already heard that.
USA Today credits the cover photo to one "Linda Eastman," later known by her married name Linda McCartney.
I know it's been mentioned a few times already, but will somebody get on the horn with Neil and ask him if we'll be able to buy versions of the Archives box with empty "Slots" for the PS volumes we've already purchased? Somebody's gotta have a direct line to the man. I held off on buying Massey Hall and will probably do the same with the Riverboat disc unless someone can assure me I won't be suckered into buying the same music twice.
What is so terrible about having an extra copy of a CD?
Are you so poverty stricken that you can't afford a few extra dollars?
Do you really believe that YOU should decide what discs should be a part of Neil's Archives?
Marian M.
Bitter much? Fans can have their opinions about this stuff, they do pay Neil's bills after all. Fact is Neil has jerked everyone around with this archives thing for decades and the act is quite tiresome by now.
