Omaha Concert Postponed. Spring 2009 Tour Possibility?
Some curious news on the upcoming Fall tour.
From Omaha World-Herald:
Neil Young fans will have to wait to see him in Omaha.
The singer’s Nov. 5 concert at the Qwest Center Omaha has been postponed until spring due to "routing logistics," concert promoter Live Nation announced Wednesday afternoon.
A new date has yet to be determined, David Gerardi, Live Nation’s Midwest market manager, said Wednesday.
Gerardi said he wasn’t sure why Young is rescheduling the Omaha show. He also doesn’t know when a new date will be announced.
He encouraged fans who purchased tickets to hold on to them and use them for the new date.
Those who want a refund can go to the point of purchase beginning Thursday. Those who purchased tickets by phone or online with a credit card through Ticketmaster, can call Ticketmaster at 422-1212.
So bummer for Omaha. Looking at Roel's tour map we can't discern how there could be "routing logistics" between Kansas City and Omaha given that it's only 166 miles apart (according to the map's cool interactive features) and Omaha is the last stop of the leg?
If there's a silver lining here it is that there appears to another U.S. tour planned for next spring. The never ending tour continues!
Thanks Matt & Liane!

I don't buy the "logistical problems" excuse either. Maybe something to do with the election the night before?
He'll be working on the "Archives" that night.
/s
He'll be Looking AT a Leader who doesn't think that he's too young.
and I'm talking about that fine gentleman pictured to the right..

Way to come through for "farm" country Neil. Cancelled on nebraska once before. I'll be taking the refund and "goin fishin" in March. Apparently only one that cares about us is the pretty future vp.
KC show 11/04 postponed also.
The Omaha show will be replaced by the Obama show!
He will drive LincVolt to Washington....
Pretty Future VP? Yeah right...that Idiot Nut case and that aging, cocky, turtle looking, heart attack waiting to happen, bastard dont stand a chance bro!
And just because he's gonna make up a show doesnt mean he's gonna tour again in the spring! Unless Trasher knows something we dont!?!?
lotta bullshit cancelling the 2 shows. Neil should know by now that alot fo his fans travel around to see shows in different cities.therefore people will have to cancel their flight arrangements, hotel arrangements and car arrangements.....which translates to lost $. Not to mention vacation arrangements made with ones job ! Way to go Neil !
Neil will be speaking at Dreamforce, salesforce.com annual conference in San Francisco on November 3rd. This is good because I was going to be there anyways.
Due to routing logistics, the Neil Young Kansas City performance previously scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th at the Sprint Center has been postponed until Spring 2009 (exact date to be determined).
nice.Neil cancels on the fans to speak at a salesforce.com conference.
Strange things are happening...
SAN FRANCISCO - August 26, 2008 - Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), the market and technology leader in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), today announced Dreamforce 2008, the SaaS event of the year. Special guests Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point, Google.org executive director Dr. Larry Brilliant, legendary singer, songwriter, musician and Linc Volt team member Neil Young and Dell chairman and CEO Michael Dell will join salesforce.com chairman and CEO Marc Benioff to speak at the 6th annual salesforce.com user and developer conference.
thanks neil..........i am a long time fan living in NE and haven't seen him since FarmAid......seems he doesn't want to travel to a "red state"......extreme disappointment in this decision.
I am crushed! I have not been able to see Neil perform yet. I am a younger fan and am afraid I will never get the chance to see him live. I was so excited for this opportunity. Hopefully it will fall on my day off since I will not have any time left by the time spring comes :(

Neil has done it before to Omaha back in the eighties. Thanks Neil. I'm a big fan and have never seen him live. This is Bush!!! I probably never will.
Postponed Lincoln, NE in the 80's also. This makes 3 times for a guy living in Omaha.
Got stuck for $250 non refundable hotel reservation at DoubleTree/Hilton in Omaha. DoubleTree/Hilton totally unwilling to compromise. Don't make my mistake and fall victim to corporate predatory practices and greed. Please don't stay at the Doubletree/Hilton if you can help it. Hope Neil shows up in the Spring but I remain skeptical.
wow. "rescheduled" doesn't mean cancelled like a lot of you guys are complaining about. he is still going to play, just at a different time. you guys are brilliant.
Hmmm, wonder why skepticism, (weapons of mass destruction, walls street debacle) be running so high these days. Anybody got a date on those rescheduled concerts yet?
have you heard anything about the los angeles show on 10/30???
i heard it was canceled????
I was so excited for tomorrows show, but I tried to print my tickets at ticketmaster and it says canceled and I checked the Forum's website and it says canceled. However I see no news or info from Neil. No press release! WTF!
Singer-songwriter Neil Young has cancelled a Los Angeles concert rather than cross a picket line.
The show was due to take place at LA indoor arena The Forum on Thursday.
The venue's striking workers are engaged in a contract dispute with Faithful Central Bible Church - the owners of The Forum arena.
Young, an honourary lifetime member of the workers' union, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), said he was "disappointed".
The concert will be rescheduled for sometime in 2009, and ticket holders will be eligible for refunds.
"I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE," said Young.
The Canadian performer is in the middle of a North American tour and will release an archival live album, Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 1968, in November.
"logistics" yeah right....that's a concert promoters excuse for "Poor Ticket Sales" i got my refund back for the K.C. show
