The Story Behind The Picture: Neil Young in Nashville 2005
From PhotoSynthesis: The Story Behind The Picture, photographer Danny Clinch discusses capturing Neil Young in Nashville, 2005:
I was shooting when Neil recorded that DVD down in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium -- the one called 'Heart of Gold.' They told me that tomorrow we'll give you an hour with Neil to shoot some pictures but you got to do it at the hotel. I wondered, 'All right, what are we going to do?" I had this thought: I knew that Neil loves old cars. So I found this guy who was selling a 1947 Cadillac, and I talked the guy into bringing the Cadillac over to the hotel for a hundred dollars. I tell Neil that we're going to shoot some pictures in the hotel, then we'll go down to the car. I told him I've got this guy to bring down a 1947 Cadillac. He said, "That sounds fantastic." So I get him into the car and I proposed we drive the car over to the Ryman. And his tour manager said, "Danny, can you wrap this up?" Neil heard him trying to cut the shoot short and says, "We're driving this car to the Ryman." I asked the owner, "Can Neil drive?" and he was like, "Can we ride in the back?" And I said sure, and off we went. I could see him in the rearview mirror, and I thought, "This is just classic."More on Danny Clinch Photography. More on the film Heart of Gold.

Your Cadillac, has a wheel in the ditch, and a wheel on the track. Your Cadillac, left a hole in your arm.
That would make a sweet album cover.
Hi, I know this isn't the best place to post this, but after a year and a half I still can't manage to find a copy of last summer's CSNY show at Nissan Pavillion in DC. Can anyone help me out?
thanks,

His left eye looks screwed up in that picture.
THRASHER (and everybody else)! You gotta check out Neil's myspace page! It's got YouTube videos of several of Neil's new songs. They're actually just picture montages, but you can listen to the full new songs!
I'm really diggin' "The Way" and "The Believer". The other two, not so much... but maybe they'll grow on me.
Seriously. "The Way" is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard from Neil in quite a while.
Simpson: Love is not a strong enough word.
Sure as hell sounds like Old Black ain't goin' anywhere!
Would have been better if it were shocking pink...
I got a coupe de ville
I got a bed in the house
Where you once lived.
I had a few cheap thrills
But they cost me a lot more
Than I could give.
I got a right
in this crazy world
To live my life
like anyone else
How long can I
carry this monkey around
All by myself.
The second picture would make a nice cover for "Looking Forward"...
Look at pictures from Decade. Neil has always had a wandering eye. Maybe that's where he gets his focus.
not to be off topic...but neil's released a few of his new songs on youtube!!!i think The Believer is the weaker track out of these...but the rest is just great!!The Way's melody is really haunting, but in a good way..Dirty Old Man is my favorite!!

If someone with a lazy eye looks toward you, at the correct angle, it looks like they are looking through you. Maybe that's where he got that part of his reputation. A bit of a lazy eye could be a good thing.
Danny Clinch is awesome. I love everything I've seen him do (he's also taken pictures of the Horse at the Gorge in '96). He just did the Pearl Jam: Immagine in Cornice DVD and the Ryan Adams mini-doc (originally a full-length) September. All excellent.
