Third Most Covered Artist of All Time: Neil Young
Neil Young is considered to be the third most covered artist of all time, at least as ranked by the article "Purple Words on a Grey Background: Four Decades of Neil Young Covers" by Phil Dellio in Stylus Magazine. Only The Beatles and Bob Dylan are ahead of Neil of other artists covering their songs.
The article does a pretty comprehensive job laying out artists that have covered the classics as well as the obscurities.
Devo's "Ohio" has always been a personal favorite.

Oh god, Yousendit? Haven't heard that name in a while. Let me introduce you to my friend Mediafire.
To any Neil Young fans who enjoy blues guitar, please listen to Roy Buchanan's version of "Down by the River". It's on his album "You are not alone" and it's probably the greatest non-Neil version of one of Neil's songs.
If you go to Neils section at ticketmaster they have his album under chrome hearts 2.check it out, its kinda like when they messed up by saying crazy horse would be touring with him.Are they all on drugs over there?
Buddy Miles' "Down by the river" version, on the album "Them Changes", is worth the listening. Quite slower than the original, but full of electric guitars & organs.w
I always liked Wilco's "Burned"
Los Lobos did a blistering version of Cinammon Girl in Urbana IL friday night...Neil would have been proud.
Widespread Panic does a lot of Neil songs.Walk On,L.A.,Dont be Denied,Mr. Soul.and more. They are basically a Neil cover band.
Love Tom Rapp from Pearls Before Swine's version of "After the Goldrush."
Linda Ronstadt also covered 'Birds' and 'Look out For My Love'.
Bob Dylan also covered 'Old Man' in mid-80 (on stage).

Built to Spill's Cortez the Killer is my favourite Neil cover.

Pearl Jam also covered "fucking up" in concert.
The Beat Farmers do a nice rendition of Powderfinger
I listened to Astrid Young's Sleeps With Angels and yeah it's pretty good, I was surprised... Whoever her guitarist is, he's pretty good. You can see the influence of Black Sabbath on her music definitely, she's got a very metallic sound, but overall I am blown away, very impressive rendition.
Jules Gray does a great version of Southern Pacific. It's on his self-titled album on Oporto Records. He really makes the song his own, but is very respectful to the original version as well.
