Third Most Covered Artist of All Time: Neil Young

Neil Young is considered to be the third most covered artist of all time, at least as ranked by the article "Purple Words on a Grey Background: Four Decades of Neil Young Covers" by Phil Dellio in Stylus Magazine. Only The Beatles and Bob Dylan are ahead of Neil of other artists covering their songs.

The article does a pretty comprehensive job laying out artists that have covered the classics as well as the obscurities.

Devo's "Ohio"
has always been a personal favorite.

To any Neil Young fans who enjoy blues guitar, please listen to Roy Buchanan's version of "Down by the River". It's on his album "You are not alone" and it's probably the greatest non-Neil version of one of Neil's songs.

Buddy Miles' "Down by the river" version, on the album "Them Changes", is worth the listening. Quite slower than the original, but full of electric guitars & organs.w

I listened to Astrid Young's Sleeps With Angels and yeah it's pretty good, I was surprised... Whoever her guitarist is, he's pretty good. You can see the influence of Black Sabbath on her music definitely, she's got a very metallic sound, but overall I am blown away, very impressive rendition.

Jules Gray does a great version of Southern Pacific. It's on his self-titled album on Oporto Records. He really makes the song his own, but is very respectful to the original version as well.
