Chrome Dreams II: Lyrics and Liner Notes
Here are the lyrics and liner notes for Chrome Dreams II. Note the credits for "Ordinary People". This is a 1988 version. More thoughts to come.
Sorry, lyrics have been removed until further notice.
From Uncut.co.uk John Mulvey reviews Neil Young's "Chrome Dreams II":
"I’ve heard “Chrome Dreams II” now, and I’m broadly struggling to see its connection to the first mythical set. In some ways, it’s a kind of reverse: if “Chrome Dreams” was a collection of great Neil songs that were subsequently dispersed across various disparate albums, “Chrome Dreams II” in part seems to be a collection of disparate, mainly great Neil songs that have been gathered together, somewhat belatedly."

So, it's definitely the old blue notes recording of OP?
A DVD as well. SWEET!
Nice to get a preview before the album is out.
Ordinary People sounded 1988, so, after all, it really is...
Any info on a vinyl release?
Oooo, I bet this is gonna be a hot DVD! Neil's DVDs kick ass.
In light of all this Pegi hatred... wouldn't it be HILARIOUS if once Archives 1 finally comes out, we'll hear brand new Pegi overdubs over all the original tracks??? oh yeah
i'm waiting for the cgi special edition of rust never sleeps where the roadeyes all have her face :D
'Boxcar' has lost a whole verse, gained a new one & had the others re-ordered by the look of it...
There's a full preview of the album at http://www.uncut.co.uk/blog/index.php?blog=6&p=466&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more466
So "Ordinary People" has vocals by Joe Canuck. I'm assuming he's a distant cousin of Joe Yankee.
Ah, so he lost his head of steam. I feared that would happen.
So why is this called Chrome Dreams II instead of Prairie Wind II?
Aha! I knew Ordinary People had to be an old recording. Those keys sound pretty outdated. Mystery solved.
Lee Iacocca? What century is this?
Man... I always thought it was, "his time, it wasn't right"... as in, it wasn't his time to win. Not his "timing". That whole verse is ruined for me now =(
And I'm kinda disappointed that Neil didn't rerecord this. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's finally on record... it's just that we would've gotten this version with the archives anyway. I would've rather had a new version now, and the '88 version later on.
Le Iacocca. All these years I thought it was "the Ayatollah people".
Wake up, folks. Once you understand that this album was a limp attempt to go on tour so Pegi could open, it all starts to make sense.
Two out of work models and a fashion slave, try to dance away the Michelob night! Does the fact that this is an old recording mean that he will or will not be performing Ordinary People on this tour?
Does anybody know wether there are any uk tour dates planned, ive heard that there are gonna be some but cant find any details of them.
