T-Shirt of the Moment: Deep in The Heartland
As we continue our Journey Through The Past, Present and Future, it makes us greatly appreciate how much time fades away so quickly.
As so many of you know, John has contributed a number of articles to TW over the years -- all of which have been properly compensated with our standard writing fees. As to say pretty much zero, aside from a beer or 2 along the way.
More TW contributions by John Kwit, our Music Correspondent via Chicago:
- Concert Report: Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts - Chicago, Milwaukee and the One That Got Away - August 27, 2025
- CSNY Family Weekend Featuring The Our House Band and Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuel
- EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Neil Young Reveals Summer 2026 Tour Plans - April 1, 2026
- Undressing Rock & Roll's Most Famous Cover-Up: Stephen & Neil’s Shared Sweater (Serape/Poncho)
- Gentle Request From A Beleaguered Neil Young Fan

With the recent news that staff at music media organizations BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been let go by parent company Veeps, it's a reminder that your support of our blog Thrasher's Wheat has never been more important.
Thrasher's Wheat is a nonprofit publisher, dedicated to supporting the Neil Young fan community (Rustie-Grains) and the songs you love. Support from our readers is critical in providing necessary funds for our core operations, which includes considerable bandwidth, storage and server costs.
So the best way to support our work is by joining our occasional fundraising efforts.
That said, the 30th Anniversary shirts are our gift to you. No really.
Believe it or not, we are somewhere close to breaking even on the project. Again, the huge variable is postage. Especially, international postage has become exorbitantly prohibitive with customs, fees, etc.
So thanks for being here folks.
Lastly, thanks to some very generous TW supporters, we were able to make these shirts happen.
We appreciate you.

I’m humbled & honored to contribute to Thrasher’s Wheat. To paraphrase a line from another fella’ named John, I’d like to thank you on behalf of the group & kindly hope I passed the audition. Support TW!
Anniversary t-shirt has landed in UK .
Thanks Thrasher for everything you do.
And the next vital question is in the age of “limited edition “ Pringles and trainers, how genuinely unique are the 30th anniversary shirts? How many are out there?

Hello friends, I just listened to Neil's title track, "Second Song" and if you haven't yet, then damn it, you need to! This is a beautiful and heart wrenching meditation with a gorgeous melody. I think he has hit the right target between overtly environmental lyrics and something deeper and darker. I hope this song goes everywhere because it is exactly what we need. Leave it to Neil.
Agree with Abner. It's classic Neil acoustic, dripping with nostalgia. No surprise that Neil is unafraid to put out a song that's 11+ minutes long in 2026.
Wow! What a fantastic trip that song was, in a heartbreaking kinda sorta way.
Shame Neil had to sell that Broken Arrow ranch. Gas prices in California, that driveway. Ouch!

Edit:
Thanks for the tip. A enjoyable ride. Those woods look inviting but thick in poison oak. I used to get out there . Just past the redwoods is the crooked mansion . I like how he slowed for the quail. The Mr Magoo of birds. San Gregorio Beach newly expanded . Maybe you know the store and bar w weekend live music.
T-shirt arrived in Berlin! Be the Rain! (We could need some here)
