Back in "the old days" people on the internet wrote about "Neil's camp", sometimes with a certain attitude as if these people were antagonists of the fan base. Sometimes people around Neil Young infact behaved like that, as if to protect their exclusivity by expressing almost contempt for the fans. While some fan restraint as to privacy still is to be commended, Neil Young and his fans have come a long way since then: Timeline shows on request, video conferences, letters personally being answered by Neil, fans publishing text on the hero's very own website (Have you read Broadfoot's story about Terry Erickson?). I strongly believe that these developments not merely are a result of a changing global media landscape and its technical possibilities but also the consequence of decades of trustbuilding and meaningful debate and content as provided by Thrasherswheat and its grains. So here's to you Thrashette and Thrasher: ad multos annos!
30 years! Thank you SO much to the wizard who makes all of this happen on the blog! Thrasher! And the lovely & ever patient & supportive Thrashette, I am sure!
Nice of Neil to wish an happy 30 years & make is feel special for participating in this community journey! There are potholes on the road to happy destiny. But TW has persevered!
We have a lot in common with our hero & artist extraordinaire Neil Young. We love organic food. We marched against Monsanto even before that album was born. We love Farm Aid & the people who bring us healthy food. We are tree huggers & environmentalists. Yes, there are also fans in the right side of the political road. And just beyond that, the fucking Nazis.
We do not like ICE, or Nazis or violent behavior of immigration thugs. We are gonna put an end to that shit. We are gonna stand up and save the earth!
***Saturday June 14th is No Kings 4! Be there! Protest! Engage in feee speech while we can!!! Let’s throw out the Nacho Nazi! Each time we add a million. This time we will add many millions I am sure.
Yes, we jones for it like a bunch of coke fiends. Get that in my nose! But we are hooked on ear candy! Thanks to Neil, the real candy man.
Over the years, Neil he come to see that we here at Thrasher’s Wheat are an organic & lovely community of people who just want to dance to the music, to be carried away by it, a spiritual journey through the past, some old songs included, that is!
The music starts & we dance, kind of like the Grateful Dead hippie dance. Dan is a big GD fan, & he is doing fairly well from what I know. We keep in touch.
We here at TW have honest intelligent discussion, people disagree, free speech happens, which is hard to find! And darn it, we just have great taste in Neil Young music, & music in general. We tend to be fans of many bands. Wildly diverse music is a ribbon the runs through it all.
We do not like the same old stuff! That is why we fell in love with Neil’s music in the first place. Yes, he can stand on the shoulders of giants, like Roy Orbison.
Where would we be without Roy Orbison? He was a hero to Neil. That story about Neil meeting up with Roy and reminding him of all these many songs Neil loved. Roy is like, shit, “I don’t even remember that song.” Neil is singing him the songs. At the end of the night Neil splits, just a one time meeting, & Roy turns to the people left in the room and says, “Who WAS that guy?” He didn’t even know who Neil was!
The coolest singer songwriter that ever cracked open the heavens with an Old Black guitar! The Godfather of Grunge, Uncle Neil became Grandpa Neil. He is just like that goose flying, in a rainbow of colors.
Long live Neil Young. And Tharasher! Thrashette! Long May You Run. You all have brought so much happiness to so many people. We don’t just enjoy music, we live it, breathe it. I am pretty sure I have tasted it! 😁. Neil, Jimi, Zimmy, Frank (Zappa that is, but that other guy had the world on a string, old blue eyes). Variety is the spice of life. And Neil Young has delivered! Thank you Neil!
The Dawn of Power Swing! Boom! The Blue Notes -I mean Blue Note Cafe! So many great ideas in song & album form.
What will the new album bring? I think Neil has something to say and the time is ripe. The Harvest is at hand.
Do we have another song bubbling up like “Human Race” ?! That song was molten fury, the power of it like bumping a power line with your elbow.
Who’s gonna stand up and save the Earth?! We are Neil.
I will be downtown
for No Lings day 6/14/26! Be there! Throw out the idiot king!
