Neil Young Invites President Trump To His Concerts
(Click photo to enlarge)
"When I tour the US this summer, and martial law isn't declared by then, which would make it impossible, we should all come together and stand up for American values. We won't be putting on a political show. We'll be playing the music we love and can all enjoy together. President Trump, you're invited. Come and hear our music, just as you have for decades. "
For reference, here are the dates for this summer's Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts love earth tour.

Ya, Trump should hit a Neil Young show, that is, attend again. No better way to celebrate living in the “free world” than going to a live music show.
There we will find community, and love in the hearts of the fans. Any show but Bend, OR, Mr president. There are credible threats of disrespect towards you at that venue.
All you gotta do is NOT declare Marshall Law. Keep on rockin’ in the free world. Oh, and let’s keep it “free” too.
Donald Trump is too busy posing as a strong man, probably too worried what his followers might think. But they are not known to think much or object to anything he says or does, so why not?
Ok, even Bend is on the table. I will try to behave if I see your entourage there. Have a great day.
Yes, let’s hope all goes well on the tour and NY can get back into the country again without arrest. My preferred show is at the end of the tour, so it’s gonna take some good fortune.
@wsanjose : the Gorge is way over-rated IMHO. Bend is way more intimate and holds 8000 instead of 28,000. Bend is pretty, Gorge is a zoo. Yes, you can watch the sun set at the Gorge. But it is a big hassle, whether you camp there or not.
Let’s have a TW meetup at Bend instead. Thrasher? Dan?

As it happens, I decided to check tickets for the HB show on 9/15 last night. I balked at the offerings when the tix first went on sale. Well, much to my surprise, TM had a bunch of seats at a massive discount. Picked up a pair for $30 a pop, all-in. Not great seats, to be sure, but at that price point, I can't complain. I don't know if this price reduction applies to other venues or how they'll last, so get 'em while they last.
@ Knowledge Nomad : Thanks mentioning that! My family will put that info to good use!
LA 9/15! Good seats mid way back for $30 apiece! On Ticketmaster!!
Next row forward is $250! I learned of these tickets from you on Thrashers Wheat! The coolest independent Neil Young blog endorsed by Mr Young himself!
Thrashers wheat is a free speech forum. And Thrasher pays for all the bandwidth himself. There is no advertising and no corporate control.
Please consider making a cash donation via PayPal (on the front page, right side link) to support Thrasher’s Wheat! He gives this away with no pay. Let’s pay him back some. Thank you!!!!

Hollywood Bowl!!!!!
$30 ticket link https://www.ticketmaster.com/neil-young-and-the-chrome-hearts-hollywood-california-09-15-2025/event/0B00624DB75E2333
$110 face value lawn still available on Ticketmaster for Bend 9/10.
Not in NY @ Jones Beach (Not coincidentally now a “Live Nation Venue”). Maybe if I had Donald Trump money I’d pay the $110 face fer the view from THE LAST ROW, UPPER DECK?
Btw, I was in attendance @ Carnegie Hall the last time citizen Trump was also present. He was there b/c Neil was pitching Pono to him as an investor/backer. “Let’s Make Music Great Again”, Don! I don’t think Trump was there as a fan.
He was there to be seen. And cop a tag line from Neil…
I picked up a $30. Too good to pass on. See you there. Thanks for link
Glad it worked out fer y'all
WTF. The security and traffic et al would fuck up any concert. Horrible idea. Absolutely the worst. If they want Trump to see the show, send him a video and call it FoxNews and let him watch it on his favorite way to get information - some TV screen while eating a 5 Big Mac and Fries. Then he might pay attention for at least 5 minutes.
With all due respect to Neil; I would never attend any event with this tyrant. And the entire concept is completely ridiculous, and inconceivable in our current political environment. It’s bad enough that he’s in The White House, but his presence at a Neil Young concert would be unacceptable on so many different levels.
Peace 🙏
@ Aer - good to hear from you.
Good question. Why indeed would Neil make such an offer? The likelihood that the President would attend his concert is less than zero. Even less likely than Neil's earlier proposal to have a free concert in Ukraine.
So why has Neil been putting out proposals that are DOA?
Trolling Trump? Similar to Trump trolls on Greenland, Canada, Gulf of America?
More importantly, why has Neil extended an olive branch to Trump?
Why would you invite someone to your concert that you absolutely despise?
unless...
@Dan, I don’t want to be in the same room or space with our current POTUS, period. The timing is especially bitter with this morning’s announcement of new travel restrictions. At one point, it used to be common sense that you specifically pursue dangerous individuals—not target a whole class of people. How the hell did we get here?
It’s important to acknowledge and process those emotions.
On the other hand, he has the same right to buy a ticket as anyone else. Maybe he’d learn something, though I have my doubts.
Music is supposed to be a universal language, and I think it can be. DJT is part of the universe, like it or not. I see less of an olive branch, more of a challenge to Make Music Universal Again.
Thanks Meta. For being here and keeping the dialog flowing.
So. Not an olive branch but MMUA? OK.
Certainly no coincidence that Neil offers Donald a concert seat about the time that ticket prices for Hollywood Bowl drop from $250 to $30?
Seriously. HB is deep in the heart of Neil's base of celebrity Southern California. And if Neil can't sellout HB, than what is going on elsewhere?
Anyways, not to be cynical here. We want to give Neil the benfit of the doubt that this is a goodwill gesture.
Neil is setting an example: That this hostile rhetoric -- & far worse -- is not helpful. It's definitely hurting the causes.
so peace and welcome back.
I was right up front for Pearl Jam's last show in Pittsburgh on May 18th - not long after Bruce made his ridiculous comments in the UK
Eddie said his peace & was never mean-spirited as he tried to defend Bruce...people listened respectfully but there wasn't a loud cheer of affirmation of boos of condemnation - the way it should be
I really hope PJ has another 30+ years of albums & tours ahead of them, but that's not reality...reality wins eventually every time
and the reality is millions of people voted for President Trump - way more than the word salad queen
I think I'll put on Throw Your Hatred Down - we could all use that lesson especially me
To put it clearer, the first step in any kind of reconciliation, or problem-solving, is the invitation to dialog. A seat at the table. Resolving conflict is a process of communication. People need to be heard. Music is a powerful way of communicating.
(I’d expect a Hollywood Bowl show to be higher profile than most, POTUS or not.)
Of course I would not like to actually attend a Neil Young show with DT in attendance. But the invitation by NY is smart; this is just a way of challenging DT to actually let NY back into the country!
Trump’s ego is bruised that no actors and musicians will perform for him. Thus far DT has not attacked NY in the press. Hell, this might be the only way to get Neil back into the country. I say, whatever it takes! The show must go on (unless it can’t go on!)!
Credible threats of disrespect to POS now reported at Hollywood Bowl also, because I just typed it.
@Knowledge Nomad : Again, thanks for the hot tip on the $30 tickets! Glad anise got in on the action.
Re: “Neil can’t sell out the HB.”
I think he will sell it out. I ask no questions when buying $30 tickets half way back. I could not care less if half the bowl is empty. I expect it will be full.
There is the prez, the country, and shows. I don’t expect DT to attend, but I think Neil made a calculated statement to throw DT off balance. I sense this was a shrewd move, & we don’t need to understand it or like it. But if I end up in a Neil Young show with DT, it would be hard to not practice some free speech.
Of course none of us like the idea of hitting a NY show with POS, but what is the likelihood? Very small. It’s just a way to deflect & deflate POS denying our hero re-entry to the good old USA.

Glad wsanjose01 got in on the action for the HB tix, is what I meant to say above. Have a great day!
First of all, let me put a stop to the untruth about the "next row forward" from the $30 tickets being $250 at Hollywood Bowl. I don't know why it seems to be human nature to make an already great deal or thing better than it already is, but that is the case here. The $30 ticket is true, but they are all the way to the right or left of the cavernous and deep Bowl, and to get to the $246 seats it is basically two full TIERs of 20 plus rows forward, and several sections to the center. The seats are at least 2/3 deep in the bowl, and at the rear of the 5th and 6th of 7 tiers, counting the PIT. The rows directly in front of them in the same section are $135, and in the section across the aisle toward the center they are $135 to $168 (and the ones next to the $168s are all gone), NOT $250! You have to go past the $135, 168, 192, and 223s to get to the $246s, to the 4th tier directly behind the boxes and several sections over to the center sections of that 4th tier. All that truth does not diminish the great value and deal of the current offering of the (guessing) about 250 tickets that were reduced to $30. No need to misrepresent the deal. Many already bought the 6th and 7th tier tickets for $135 and $89. I bought 4 of the bargain tickets. I am a sucker for a ridiculous deal. Time to take grandkids to one of my geriatric events and see Neil for the first time. Maybe there will be some cool Micah animation. Pass the music along. Maybe it will stick. Worth a shot. I have started a collection of photos this year of the youngest people I can find at the concerts, as they are now basically getiatric events that I am a part of. I think that it is important that the music of our time has youth experience it. The music needs to be passed on before we all pass.
My bet is this show will not sell out, unless many more deals are proffered. There are ads on TV in LA already for the show, and that only happens when sales are very disappointing and the production is stressed. The Hollywood Bowl has uncomfortable benches from the 4th tier back, the 4 'large screens' are actually very small and outdated, and the sound is always very "soft" for any rock show, as it is confined to limits because of the location and the surrounding homes and neighborhoods in the Hills. And the distance to the stage from anywhere in the back of the boxes is ridiculous. I suspect there will be even better seats reduced (that ought to piss off the early purchasers) as time goes on, but nowhere close to $30 all in.
Artists were hurt by the pandemic, to be sure. Some devastatingly so. It was tragic. But the prices of live shows they are demanding to recoup the losses are not a love and peace message to the fans, regardless of the songs they may sing. Smaller, intimate venues, beautiful theaters....that is special. Massive venues and stadiums..... it always amazes me that people convince themselves that they enjoy it, especially for the cost. These are the paydays for the bands. I know it is not just the artists that establish pricing and get the pieces of the pie, and Ticketmaster and Live Nation are still consummate bullies. This coupled with a venue that almost all locals I know despise to go to (The Wiltern with its flat tiers and horrible site lines is a close second) makes me think that you will be able to grab a ticket all the way up to the date of the show, and will see a good share of empties when you go.
@ Aer Stephen : Untruths? Trying to make a good deal seem better? My word!
I am sure you must know more than I about Hollywood Bowl seating. No deceit intended. My girl is getting a masters degree at UCLA & she scored the tickets. She informed me that next seat forward cost $250. Is she wrong? I have more faith in her than I do in the Government, that’s for sure. Odds of SpaceX staying solvent: unknown. Odds of attending a Neil Young show Sept 15th for $30? Great, if he can get back into the country.
No need to project motives onto me or anyone else.
We all know what my motives are: more Neil Young music!
The Doors rented every Marshall stack in LA to play the HB & then the Fire Marshall pulled the plug, let them use 1 amp. Great blu ray tho!
See you at the show!

Historic peak attendance at Hollywood Bowl was 26000 in 1936. So it is big, like the Gorge in WA state.

$80 lawns Mt View. $112 Bend GA. Nearly all seats are gone. I saw Coastal there. Bend has a good fan base. Just don't try to light up. It's James Bond just to get away. $30 . Doesn't say partial view. At that who cares. I'm in the venue. I'm coming from AZ will do 500 miles in 2 days. Suggestion parking are welcomed.
Whatever you do, don't park at the Bowl! A lot of shows offer shuttles from elsewhere around LA. I tend to grab one from Griffith Park. Or I take the train to Highland/Hollywood and walk up the hill to the Bowl. Enjoy!
My sense is the ticket price reduction is not a Neil specific issue. Beyonce tickets were also going for well under face value at her recent run here. Today, Rhiannon Giddens show released a bunch of Tix at 40% off. If I weren't out of town, I'd be all over that. She's superb.
People know the Trump recession is coming, so they are pulling back on spending.
Its simple he has a tour/album to promote and is unable to sell out the Hollywood Bowl. Any mention of Trump puts him and his tour in the headlines. Its just another version of pitching Pono to Trump.
