Brother Alan in Seattle Goes to Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse in San Diego - April 25
Last night, our Brother Alan in Seattle went to the Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse concert in San Diego (April 25) and filed these updates to TW.
"Tonight Neil Young leveled SDSU. Somehow Micah (My -Cah) has given Neil new power! It was a Grunge sound Thursday, with an acoustic solo set in the middle. I have not seen power like this since Weld."
Thanks for report and updates Alan!

The Cortez opener with new old lyrics was tremendous! All the songs sounded very good, with the Full Fury of the Horse!
This band plays shows so well, with incredible force. Neil’s voice sounded strong & nice back backup singing too. This is a high water mark for Neil Young’s modern career. They rock so hard with a grunge delivery, channeling the fury of punk but with highly skilled players.
The energy between the musicians is excellent. It’s something new. I am not saying it was “better than with Poncho or Nils.”,
But it was spectacular! Not the old CH line-up. Not like Nils. Particle Kid / Micah Nelson is a pairing of guitars that is explosive! Experiment was extremely successful. Put on your seat belts! It’s getting crazy good!
The song picks were great! Solo acoustic again had NY singing and playing well.

Brutal Pacifism in music last night!
He talks about Briggs again at every show like last summer. Deep impact obviously. Legend says David hated Manson so much he threatened to beat his ass. That in itself endears him to me lol.
Hardest Crazy Horse since Weld is a biggggg call. We've had 96, 2001 and 2013 tours. Alchemy was hard rocking and a noise fest. Glad the guys are back!!
Not trying to be dramatic in describing it as the most powerful Neil Young show I have seen / felt since ‘91…. Key point being the Grunge nature of the delivery, the power, the singing. Neil is in fine voice. Micah is singing, all the vocals I heard were on key & excellent. Strong. But the brutal nature of the sound, well, it was as if they were tearing a seam into another dimension of Neil Young excellence. The band was like Neil had taken a ride on a reenergizing Time Machine, and returned to us now with Micah Nelson rising to the occasion. The synergy is evident, the Horse is thriving. Alive and well. Full Gallup.
Get back to me after seeing the live show. Let us all know what you think. Report back on your impressions of the shows.
The good news is that there is magic afoot in the Neil Young universe. His live performances of late are more impressive to me than any other recent reunions of NYCH or PotR. The PP Alchemy was awesome, I loved it. One of my all time favorites. The Old Princeton Landing was tremendous in a Zuma way, Bite The Bullet, Losing End. Country grunge Neil & CH. Fun songs.
But this new tour is really plugged in to the muse. They are highly inspired and will impress with live delivery. Neil sang like he took back 15 years on the road and came back Young.
Let me just say that everyone will be impressed in this tour. Not the longest ever shows, but worth every penny. The fans will be very happy. We are so lucky to have this latest incarnation of NYH!
Have a great day. My Soul battery is all charged up. Thank you NYH!
