Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse will perform at the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles on September 20th and 21st (Wed. & Thurs.). The gigs are benefit concerts for The Bridge School and The Painted Turtle.
In addition to Billy Talbot on bass and drummer Ralph Molina, the two guitarists Nils Lofgren and Micah Nelson will also support Neil Young at his benefit concert for the 50th anniversary of the legendary music club. Originally, Willie Nelson's son Micah was supposed to fill in for Nils Lofgren as he was on a world tour with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. However, Springsteen had to cancel all concert dates in September due to health concerns.
@ Dan : Right you are, Dan! 2 albums back to back. That has gotta be a first.
I hope you are doing ok Dan. I have an injured middle finger in my left hand. This is not a repetitive use injury from flipping folks the Bird, I assure you! Have a good day.
Tonight will be the 50-year anniversary of my seeing Neil playing the Roxy. I attended the second show on September 20. Bob Dylan and Cher were several tables to our left. Joni was in the balcony. Elton was out front on the sidewalk creating a stir. Neil would stoop down and sip drinks from audience members’ tables.
Grin was scheduled to open for Neil. Instead, we got Graham Nash who knocked a draft beer off his piano and was thoroughly entertaining. Neil played the entire Tonight’s the Night record and one encore in Down by the River. As we left to drive home, friends complained they wanted familiar songs. I, too, would have preferred a longer time with Neil. Alas, the show was memorable for all. We took two cameras and shot five rolls of film. Neil signed our photos and used one in 2018 as the album cover.
Two days later, I took a friend to Neil’s last Roxy show. This time David Blue opened the show with an incredible guitarist in Don Felder. Soon thereafter I notice Felder joined The Eagles. I was hooked.
Last Sunday evening, my wife and I attended the new Grammy Museum exhibit “The Roxy: 50 years and still Rockin.” I met Joel Bernstein and many other photographers. I chatted with Lou Adler, Roxy co-founder. I chatted with Paul Tollett of Coachella fame. The dinner was spectacular on the rooftop. A magical dinner in LaLa Land. Page Hannah (Daryl’s sis) was with husband Lou , too. Another memorable evening 50 years later.

Anyone else desperately hoping Neil gets a fire in him to take this show on the road?
I wasn't able to get tickets on the initial sale. Got offered a chance to buy tickets a couple days ago, but couldn't justify the exponentially increased cost in flights and accommodations only a couple days notice. Anyway, hope all have fun and that Neil tours with the Horse soon (and that they play some deep cuts from the two albums)
The posture was usual. Hunched. But a Duck Dunn look. Hey it's been a while. I stayed in Spearfish SD. Drive the canyon. Drank in Sturgis. Saw Badlands was in Deadwood 2 days. It takes a certain man who says South Dakota that's me. Like my mom. Bridgewater.
Wickedly cool for NYCH to do this 50 years later! I hope they shot film! I can’t wait to hear more of it. Tired Eyes is epic! Great link to watch and hear. Uncle Neil delivers again!
And this is coming off his spectacular solo Coastal tour! They practiced & performed 2 classic albums! His musical accomplishments never cease to amaze me! Go Neil! Thank you!

Neil and SM Flyers played the entire TNT album live @ Roxy, and a generous helping of encore songs. Fantastic!
This is a great time to be a Neil Young fanatic. Thanks Neil!
Your Brother Alan, originally from Santa Monica.
Did he welcome everyone to Miami Beach? Did Candy Bar get comp'ed?
Must have been a great night.
From the set list it looks like they played all of Tonight’s The Night and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
Must have been amazing.
Peace 🙏
Some videos up on Jambase. Sad I missed these.
