Neil Young Has "A Glimpse Of The Future" | NYA
Per Neil Young Archives, Neil has "A Glimpse Of The Future". (thanks Mike "Road Dawg"!)
With the NEIL YOUNG 2023 COASTAL SOLO TOUR now concluded, here @ TW, we looked back as we looked forward.
And in reading the latest on Times Contrarian | Neil Young Archives, so has Neil, it would seem. And we think we see and hear a live album from the tour. Possibly a film as well.

In a recent Letter to the Editor, he was asked how he'd keep busy until Farm Aid. He said "making an album."
thanks wardo! Had not seen that letter yet.
So. the album might be a live album of Coastal? Or something else entirely?
guess we'll find out @ FA in Sept.
ps - and what title for a live Coastal Tour album?
MORE SOLO!
Probably something new. With the same approach as Paul Simon. So you can’t skip to another « single ».
"Rollercoaster"?
"Coastal" works for me.

Nothing on Robbie Robertson..? Nothing? Really?! And by the way, Thrasher, after so many years, do you not understand that those "Comment of the Moment" stuff is completely useless..? I mean... I mean, you post something about a certain topic, then you post it AGAIN and expect more contributions..? Seriously, what is your point..?? I can see NONE.
Bruh, it's a blog run by one dude who has a life. Seriously, what's the point of being so harsh? I can see NONE.
Brooding about something on Robbie Robertson myself for a different publication I can see that it is pretty difficult to say something meaningful without just re-hashing the legend of this versatile person. Say something about the guitarist, the song-writer, the film score producer, the native, the Canadian? And besides that. This is a Neil Young related blog. While "The Last Waltz" appears to have been Robertson's project I always assumed that Neil Young was brought into the picture by Levon Helm or other Band members. Neil Young appears on the "Storyville" track "Soap Box Preacher" singing background. But, Bijou, maybe you know more about this.
bijou shakey, have a quiet word with yourself will you? Knowledge Nomad, well said!
I also assumed that Thrasher might be busy having a life, who knows, he may have family or friends in Hawaii, you know, people with real problems going on at present....
I was very very sad to hear of Robbie's passing, and given that Thrasher devoted space to the passing of Tony Bennett I'm sure that Robbie will get properly mentioned in due course.
Thrasher, thanks again for all you do for us.
@ Bijou Shakey : I echo the others who have said your complaint is off base. We don’t attack our favorite blogger when he leaves out non-Neil Young topics. We don’t attack. We hope he keeps doing what he is doing, including Comments of the Moment, which fills the writers with humbling pride, gratitude, & For The Love of Neil. Maybe you should post something insightful about Neil and maybe get published!
I LOVE Robbie Robertson. But this blog ain’t Rolling Stone & Thrasher does not get paid! You think Thrasher just sits back and lets the money roll in?! That’s complete bullshit. You should become a bigger fan.
I am spending my time in mourning for Robbie R by reading his book and listening to 20 CDs that he was on. Last night I threw in Dylan live at Manchester ‘66 (formerly mis-identified as Albert Hall, where nobody shouted “Judas”). Robbie was a fantastic guitar player with tons of souls and chops. Robbie made this world much better than it was without him.
Neil Young has lost SO many close friends, musicians, brothers, sisters in music. This blog would suffer if it changed its focus, perhaps.
Neil Young’s music is the light that draws us in. Let us bask in its warmth together.
Thank you Thrasher! Your Brother Alan in Seattle
I think RR plays with Neil on White Line?
Maybe the comment of the moment is meant to get people thinking, celebrate a moment of insight.. etc... it need not lead to numerous comments. Sometimes there is no reason to comment.
Alan and others covered the rest of what I was going to say.
Thanks Thrasher and others
@ Bijou Shakey : TW does not turn a profit. That is a key central point here. So then, what motive could Thrasher have? Why would he work SO hard on this sometimes Thankless Blog if not for some ulterior motive? Wrong! He labors FOR US and he does it
FOR FREE! He is not compensated for his time spent except for the occasional word of gratitude at the results of his substantial unpaid time spent on making this the most killer (& longest running) fan page on the net! Approved of by Neil Young himself! Keep on blogging, til the lights go out!
Thrasher’s Creativity is abundant on the blog posts. He is a champion for us all. He is also patient and forgiving, keeping free speech well protected in this TW arena! And frankly he has endured far too much insulting talk. He has an Heart of Gold. And we have greedy hands. Intelligent people write illuminating comments, but only 5% of visitors post(!). Comments of the Moment offer a focus to further know and enjoy this topic of Neil Young which we Danger Birds of a feather flock to together here for! TW helps us enjoy Neil Young’s Treasure… Sugar Mountains made of Neil’s compelling music! And that library is gigantic & Amazing.
Let them Love as my great grandfather used to say. Don’t Forget Love.
Your. Either Alan in Seattle
Your Brother Alan in Seattle
RIP Robbie Robertson.
Thanks for the support everyone.
It gives us strength to carry on.
The Thrashers are currently on a pilgramage. Normal operations should resume next week. Hopefully no one else persishes in the meantime.
@ Shakey - any thoughts on Oliver Anthony's gritty coal country ballad 'Rich Men North Of Richmond' ?

As mientioned, TW is out of action until next week.
But knew we had to share this vital wheat....

just read an article saying it is NYCH and they added a second night. Maybe they will play without Nils or Bruce will play without Nils? But this is the first I read of CH being there too.

Registration for the ticket sale is now open. IF you get a chance to buy a ticket, it'll set you back a Kilobuck. No transfers. Out of my range, but I'm guessing there will be streaming or recordings or both.

Hope everyone's doing well.
Looks like Keith E nailed it. I know it's a charity benefit as well as the Roxy's 50th but The Roxy & AXS Ticket service just posted a lottery signup for even a chance to score tickets. But here's my main point of post, listed in the info for signup.
Ticket Price: $1,000.00 + fees
Ticket Limit: Two (2) per selected registrant
Tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE
Was really hoping to go (Wife and I did get two shows at the Ford Theater at $150ea ticket) but being retired, $2,000+ for a night won't fit my budget. It's Los Angeles/Hollywood as well as any that will travel in so probably won't have an issue selling 1,000 (500 ea night) tickets. Looks to me that even if some tickets are offered on Archives they will be at this price.
Thinking of sending a letter to Archives urging Neil to make a Live Stream out of it and could raise a lot more money.
Peace,
Randy M

NYA is unfortunately dragging their feet on this a bit, I thought we would have heard something from them by now. Maybe NYA members will automattically get a chance to buy tix, but it seems like I remember the benefit in 2019 was not offered first to NYA because it was a benefit ? I could be wrong. Either way, if notifications are coming by 8/24, ,tickets will most likely go on sale 8/25 or 8/26. I would expect to hear something from NYA tomorrow.

My perception was...they charged your (my) credit card $1.00 to register for their Lottery (which I have a feeling will be considered to be a part of the "fees" by AXS that will NOT go to the charities and will not be refunded if you're not "chosen"), and that they're just going to sell two tickets to those deemed to be worthy.
Like, once you've paid that $1.00, you were committing to buy two tickets for $1,000 each if you're chosen. They're going to immediately charge your credit card for the tickets and deliver them digitally. One can only wonder how much the total "fees" will end up being * it was never stated. I don't think that they're going to give anyone the opportunity to opt out once chosen no matter how much the fees turn out to be. It was like you were entering in to a contract by just paying that $1.00
What's odd is that they started the "registration" after the second show was announced, yet only mentioned the first 9/20 show when they started taking registrants.
The whole thing could've and should've been handled better. And yes, the NYA site should have at the very least have been explaining things.

I stand corrected on some prior assumptions (although now it looks like it's only the 9/21 show that you're registering for - this whole thing is a shitshow). I'm pretty sure that when I "registered" that it was for the 9/20 show. Now it says 9/21, but you risk being disqualified if you register again for 9/21?

A thousand dollars. It's going to be a great concert for a good cause, but being a person who rarely has a grand to spare I would go buy a nice acoustic guitar for that amount of money.
I assumed it would be expensive. I wonder which high rolling celebs will show up? Cher? David Geffen? Joe Rogan?
Can you imagine being there in 73? Neil rolling out his great work.
The Black Keys played at the Iowa State Fair and I went. They were great, stayed in the back and used ear protection!!
You all would not believe the parade of crazy right wingers at the fair.
