The details surround the mastering on the upcoming (someday) Neil Young & Crazy Horse Odeon-Budokan March 1976 concerts. John Hanlon writes:
There is no formula as to formats being digital or analog in terms of mix sources. We use the best we have always. We leave no stone unturned unless it weighs several tons, meaning if there is a tremendous amount of editing to be done or there are second and third generation master tape copies that are worn out and suffering sonically, or a given project was never really assembled in a viable analog domain – only then do we decide which to master from in terms of a given release format such as vinyl records, CDs, hi-res digital for streaming etc.But even more exciting and interesting is the revelation of the Tuscaloosa tapes -- an "under the radar monster"?! (thanks Peter D.!)
Even the indispensably authoritative Sugar Mountain doesn't have a complete setlist for the Tuscaloosa show?!

The under the radar monster comment seems more a reference to something bigger than the surviving multitracks reels from the Tuscaloosa show.

Elliot Mazer started to record Neil with the Philadelphia shows. Generally he reused the multitrack tapes for the following shows. It's possible that Tuscaloosa, though a partial recording, was particularly good and more 2 inch tapes from this show than usually were still in the Vaults.
Don't forget the massive unearthing of unreleased material for Ragged Glory that could come out next year as a double album. Ragged Glory II. That's what it's called.

I finally got subscribed to NYA website. $19.99 per year is incredibly responsible for what you get. I’m glad we still get a physical product eventually but the site does have some incredible artifacts and history. Still hoping to live long enough to hear the 10 or so unreleased albums listed, and the half a dozen films too.
I was really surprised to find the videos from The Complex Sessions on NYA. I have really bad copies I recorded on VHS, and these loo and sound amazing. Looking forward to more as Neil adds to his Archives site.

The new under radar Monster is Ragged Glory II with 38 minutes of unreleased sessions.
Whoa! "Ragged Glory" is one of my faves. Super Excited (As long as it Is NOT 38 minutes of Feedback, ala "ARC" (which accompanied "WELD").
I would guess that Ragged Glory II is the well circulated "Ranch Rehearsals". Hope I'm wrong this time around...

I was at the Tuscaloosa show and I remember it as one of the worst shows I ever saw. I was a giant Neil Young fan, having learned his songs on a Conn acoustic guitar and piano, and was really hyped to finally hear him live. But he sucked! I and went with my girlfriend, who was equally unimpressed with the show. Her response to the concert was: "some people are great on record but lousy live".
I'd love to hear this again to prove my memories wrong.
sorry for being off topic. Take a minute or 9 to watch this thing on Nils. Of course he was great at the last BSB. He was also at the first but that one I was shut out from the ticket lottery.
