“I caught you knockin’ at my Cellar Door. Hey baby can I have some more...” caffeine.
A Rock Star Bucks a Coffee Shop, to no avail. In the perhaps greatest irony in Neil Young’s musical history, Starbuck$ has leased the former Cellar Door nightclub building.
Alas, Cinnamon Girl has been replaced by Cinnamon Dolce Frappuccino®.
Back in 2013, we returned to the scene 43 years later posting Caught You Knockin' At My Cellar Door (or "Keep on knockin' in the free world").
Upon our return to the hallowed ground that once was The Cellar Door, on the corner of 34th & M St., NW, in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, we were none to amused by the appearance of the latest blasphemy -- a permit to build yet another Starbucks coffee shop?! Clearly, the time has come to remove these Starbucks signs so that the coffee barista slaves of the world can be freed.

We will go to this Starbucks store, order our coffee and replace all the CDs in the display/sale rack with the Neil Young Live st the Cellar Door Neil Young Archives Performance Series – Disc 2.5, Because Sound Matters –CD. Then We will slip the barista a $20 hand them Neil’s CD and ask them to Crank it to 11.
When Cellar Door is over we will slip barista a $100 bill and one of Neil’s guitar picks and ask them to play The Monsanto Years CD We have just given them. As the starts playing we unfurl the Monsanto Years Album Cover in large banner form outside the store, chain ourselves to the golden Eagle head in the store, which we conveniently have brought along, with a bullhorn in hand and Claim “There’s GMOs on the highest floor.”
Contributions to our GoFund Me Page for bail money appreciated.
Happy ARC Day to all!
ps - after we showed this page to our niece, she asked "Why is it an "April Fool's" joke, if it's true?"
To which Thrashette explained: "It's like a paradox. Like April Fool's day and Easter being on the same day."
To which we said: "Right. A paradox. Like playing ARC today really loud, on repeat as way to show our Neil appreciation."
And then the niece said: "Oh, you mean like when Neil released Chrome Dreams II when Chrome Dreams I never even existed? Or Toast will be released in July?"
thrashette & thrasher ... proud Aunt & Uncle, for sure.
peace
Maybe Neil can protest against this one too,and write a whole crap album about it...
