Fellow Rusties,
There are press reports suggesting that numerous women in Sweden have been attacked and assaulted at recent Music festivals in Sweden … have a wonderful time but please be careful and safe.

On a downer note a good article about the start of the 20 year freefall of NY. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/neil-young-broken-arrow/
There has been only two non live albums in the last twenty years that can compare somewhat to that '89-'95 period of extraordinary music from Mr. Young Psychedelic Pill and LeNoise. The rest have a one or none flavor that can be considered even near great songs '96- Music Arcade, '00-Without Rings,'02- Goin'Home,'03- Bandit,'06 -Roger And Out,'07- No Hidden Path. Remember the "80's period was only 7 years, this is more than twice that period of musical death.

If you've ever skydived, you know that a free fall is quite a thrilling thing indeed. Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’), what a great song. Thanks for the link. So many gems from the last 20 years.

The venue Dalhalla, Rättvik is in Sweden, not in Sweden, Denmark as the headline of this article suggests.

Why is NY held to a standard where he has to produce greatness every album every year? At least he's still creating when a lot of his contemporaries are just living off the money they made 40 years ago. There are many hidden gems out there you just have listen with an open mind and an open heart. I really object to this what have you done for me lately when the man is a f***ing musical genius.

I have been to three NY concerts and this was by far the best. The location, Dalhalla, is fantastic, an old rock quarry rebuilt into an amphitheater. The sound was the best I heard at any concert ever and I was really impressed by POTR, especially their back-up vocals. Highlights were many but for me "Words", "Revolution blues" and the encore of Cortez stood out. The song list was varied and full of not so often played gems. Realistically this was a once in a lifetime experience, one that will be with me for ever.

Show was awesome! One of the coolest venues we've ever been too, up there with Red Rocks. Razor love was a great surprise but the show really got going at Alabama. Revolution Blues was a shout from the audience that Neil appeared to agree with. The encore finished around midnight and it was still what we call dusk in Colorado outside. Hadn't seen him since last years Red Rocks shows and he and the band sound a lot more settled in. Couldn't ask for much more for the show coming up in Amsterdam. While some festivals may have gotten out of control in Sweden, this place was a class act. Silent during most of the show until Old Black came out.

@ Pocahontas - good question about NY held to a different standard -- especially by his "longtime fans". A bit of a mystery that we just choose to ignore for the most part.

Consistently folks are saying Neil's never been happier. he's got a stellar band that he's thrilled with and they are a joy to behold.

So these are minor quibbles.

Maybe when some of these commenters get to be 70 we can say to them how come you don't (blank) like you did when you were 25? absurd.

@ stibba - We're so happy for your once in a lifetime experience. Not everyone is lucky to even have one 'once in a lifetime experience".

@ Marshall -So Revolution Blues was an audible and not on setlist?? cool.

Enjoy Amsterdam and be sure to drop us a report!

Broken Arrow might be my favorite Neil album. That's the first Neil album I bought on the day it came out and the first tour I saw him on, so I suppose I could be biased (but, then again, isn't everyone biased when it comes to whatever their favorite artist/musician/album/song is?).

Exactly 1 week until I'm on an airplane to Rome to see Neil again. I wish I could have convinced my girlfriend to see the other Italy shows, but I suppose 1 Neil show and then enjoying a lot of Italian wine is a very acceptable compromise!

Nick, thanks for the head's up on the Rolling Stone interview …
very cool podcast for those who didn't see it (see link below) … they start talking about Neil like 7 or 8 minutes in … its a bunch of dudes who get Neil including the guy who interviewed him discussing Neil and some really cool stuff comes out including fro the interview and they play a nice long excerpt from the interview which as some great nuggets that didn't get into the print version … I though they said at the end of the podcast that Neil & POTR were going to play some shows in November, but maybe I'm hearing what I want to hear …

@Dan1: The podcast reference at the end was about the possibility of more shows in October, which has been rumored before/between "Oldchella" and Bridge - the Telluride town council is pursuing a show there in early October, and there's also been talk of Red Rocks.

Random question: Are they selling the EARTH baseball hat that Corey, the bassist, has often worn during the shows? They're not listed in Neil's official web store.

(You'd think I maybe would have stopped by the merch area in New Braunfels or NOLA, but nope!)
