Statement by Pegi Young on Rick Rosas, who sadly passed away this week:
On Thursday, November 6th, I lost one of the dearest friends I had. An original Survivor, RTBP gave me love and encouragement and support as I progressed from a shy and timid singer and songwriter on our first record right through to the making of our last record, Lonely In A Crowed Room, which he loved and was very proud of. He was a brother to me as I was a sister to him. Knowing he was always there on stage at my right shoulder gave me great comfort and support. He was always there for me through thick and thin and never let me down.A heartfelt tribute to "Rick the Bass Player". Our thoughts are with all of The Survivors. peace
His loss is a terrible shock to our band of Survivors, along with his many other dear friends and loved ones. So respected in the music community, he was truly an amazing bass player. I was incredibly lucky and honored to have him in my band and to count him among my friends.
As with our dear friend, Ben Keith, Rick too passed on the occasion of the full moon.
His loss is profound and we will always miss him. Our hearts go out to his long time partner, Elizabeth, and the rest of his family they suffer through this unexpected and unthinkable loss.
Sending you love and light as you travel to the other side Rick.
Love always.
Pegi
A video tribute to Rick Rosas: 1949 - 2014:
At last night's Pegi Young & The Survivors gig, Pegi and the band made a toast to Rick on stage. Shots of tequila were involved. Check it out...
Thanks sweet, sweet Malibu Joni!!!

Beautiful comment and dedication from Pegi as Neil continues to be silent. All we get is his shopping habits. When is Neil Young going to release a statement about Rick Rosas and how much Rick meant to him. Neil Young's silence is deafening.
Since when does Neil Young or any -one have to express their grief in public, comon sense would tell you that they had alot of love an respect for each other an like Ben Keith will make things never the same in Neil Young's life.
RE the silence from Neil, go read Neil Young Times.
Thank you so much Pegi for a beautiful tribute to a great man and musician. So sad...my heart and thoughts are with Rick, and with you and all of his family and friends.
I found myself thinking a lot about Rick last Thursday, which happens with me sometimes when a person passes from this world to the next. Then I heard the news, cried and knew why. Regret how I missed the chance to speak with him at your show a few years back, to just say "hello" to one very cool dude. Now is all we ever really have....
Here is my offering to Rick Rosas and his enduring music and spirit. It's Keith Jarrett on piano and the late, great Charlie Haden on bass performing "Where Can I Go Without You":
