Just been watching some of the show on youtube, hearing some more great performances at last night's show.
The only disappointment is that Like A Hurricane (after a very promising performance in Iceland) has gone back to laid back "noise-fest" mode.
Hopefully Down By The River will get a few more outings, or maybe even Cortez The Killer in the coming weeks. Cortez would be great. I love Hurricane, but you need to listen to the soaring versions from February-April 1991 to really hear it at it's absolute best. The soloing and intensity on those versions is extraordinary.

and I haven't seen mention of Poncho's T-shirt at Hyde Park - an X-ray of a hand giving the finger. Just perfect.
I'd have to say for me Hyde Park was a good solid concert but the setlist reminded me too much of the awesome '93 Finsbury Park gig with Booker T and suffered a little by comparison.
But the more up tempo Goldrush was sublime and it was great to hear Goin' Home again.

Where on Youtube? I've found barely any footage of the tour so far. Saw Neil and the Horse at Hyde Park on Saturday, utterly beguiling as always with or without Billy. Just back from Glastonbury and a Neil crowd shows much more respect than most artists received there. Might not have been the case had more of those who clearly only came to see the National not left at the end of their, admittedly impressive, set. But hey, young people today.
I've seen Neil many times over the years but saw him with the Horse in Birmingham last year for the first time since the Phoenix festival in mid 90's [and prior to that on the Trans tour at Wembley] and it far outstripped both previous performances for me. Maybe it's because we're both getting so old and even he's got to stop playing incendiary rock and roll sometime. Had tickets for the O2 and obviously gutted when Poncho broke his hand [loved his T shirt on Saturday]. Somehow convinced myself that a 65 year old could recover from a broken hand in 3 weeks and bought scalped tickets for the New York [ish] show; paid for the flights before the inevitable announcement.
So, thrilled to have the opportunity to see them again and to hell with the cost. The whole Hyde Park set magnificent in my book but special mention for Only Love, RITFW and, in particular, a swoonsome Down By The River. Was contemplating heading up to Liverpool on Sunday but [somebody else's] good sense prevailed. I've still got Colmar [last date of their last European tour?] to look forward to.
