An absolute f* #in' awesome and, well ... epic performance. Amazing reviews all around (naturally). Quotes from reviews "The God of Thunder Rock sent bolts though the air", "The most brutal hippie drew blood", "Like a Hurricane", "Masterly". Concert of the year, no doubt - and we have already had Springsteen, Stones and more.
The set list looks great show to show. Lokerse Feesten is drawing near... a small part of me is still hoping Goin' Home and Hurricane will make a reappearance, but I'll embrace whatever comes my way...
Yeah well .. no Hurricane, no Down By River - but hey, we got at little more than 2 hours of mindblowing rock'n'roll. I'm not complaining
http://wp.me/p1zvG0-7jzT my blogg about the Copenhagen show.
Copenhagen, Forum - goddammit, do I have to come right out and say it? The best guitarplaying I´ve ever heard from Neil Young - and maybe his best singing since the Live Rust-tour. Is he really getting old, or just pretending? I was oh so sceptical about the setlist, I mean, why go touring with only 2-3 of your best songs? Not even "Down by the River" opened on this particular show, mmnnn... Anyway, from the first chord of "Love and only Love" he played necromancingly astonishing and raised from the on even the minor songs top up over the roof into the tropic Copenhagen sky. I still can´t get over it. Today I´m trying to recapture glimses from albums and dvd´s - but in spite of all the magnificent greatness there, it´s only just close to that maximum guitarsound and fingertouch feel, he produced last night in Copenhagen in the middle of magnificent Crazy Horse (best wishes to Billy T.).
Master Young - I heard your playing and singing for the first time, when I was a kid in the local far away Danish cinema i 1971 - you sang "Helpless" on the score to the movie "Strawberry Statement". It took me a long while to find out who you were back then. I still can ´t grasp it. It´s like those seagulls still out of reach. Now my kids were standing there beside me last night. You keep taking our breath away. Walk on. Thank you so very very much, man. Best from Michael, Denmark
Finally I got to see my big hero Neil Young live. Two hours and twenty minutes of mindblowing music and I loved every second of it. The only disappointment was that I couldn´t get my hands on a tour poster.
They opened with "Be the Rain" just now in Bergen (where it's raining, appropriately enough).
And after the acoustic set, starting out with "Tonight's the Night"!
