As everybody knows, "Love in Mind" also is on the "Live at Massey Hall" CD (same tour as the TFA version, different date)
Thanks for that.
As everybody knows, we would always say that in the context of TFA.
Don't Be Denied, etc is only available on TFA vinyl. Well, maybe someday, we'll be able to retire that expression. In the meantime, everybody knows this is nowhere...
Speaking of Time Fades Away, apart from "Lookout Joe" what other songs were recorded by The Stray Gators in Dec 1972 as rehearsals for Harvest/Time Fades Away tour?
Has anyone heard them or are they in circulation?
His best songwriting period . No discussion. I fear that the next release will be a further erosion of his legacy, who plays Psychedelic Pill?
Well anyone care to answer my question about time fades away sessions? Surely someone here knows?
Have never seen specifics on what actually was recorded (though we should know if/when Archives 2 comes out), but here's what Uncut magazine said about the planned "Last Dance" studio album, which later was shelved for the "TFA" live release:
Young had already recorded four solo acoustic demos at A&M Studios in LA – “Letter From Nam”, “Last Dance”, “Come Along And Say You Will” and “The Bridge” – and worked up more new songs at Broken Arrow. The new record’s working title was “Last Dance”. There was even a tracklisting for it that included the songs “Time Fades Away”, “New Mama”, “Come Along And Say You Will”, “The Bridge”, “Don’t Be Denied” on side one, with “Lookout Joe”, “Journey Through The Past”, “Last Dance” and “Goodbye Christians On The Shore” completing the album.
My least favorite record is Time Fades Away. I think it’s the worst record I ever made—but as a documentary of what was happening to me, it was a great record. I was onstage and I was playing all these songs that nobody had heard before, recording them, and I didn’t have the right band. It was just an uncomfortable tour. It was supposed to be this big deal—I just had Harvest out, and they booked me into ninety cities. I felt like a product, and I had this band of all-star musicians that couldn’t even look at each other. It was a total joke. —Interview with Dave Ferrin, 1987

Despite Young’s assertions that Time Fades Away is his “worst record,” it was far ahead of its time in its raggedy-ass nakedness. In 1996, R.E.M. cited it as an inspiration for their recorded-live-on-the-road New Adventures in Hi-Fi.

Great thanks for that info, another unreleased album. Bring on vol. 2 already.
