Totally moved last night ...Thanks Dan! Nice report. So happy to hear you share your experience. we've heard similar tales of folks being very moved by these shows.
So grateful to Neil, to being on this lifetime journey with him and fellow fans, grateful to Thrasher for TW ... lots of thoughts and feelings ...
first, just blown away from seeing just Neil there alone with his instruments in a small, beautiful venue with him combing through his trunk of memories and playing gem after gem ... as irony would have it, as I was very anti-covers, literally had tears streaming down my cheeks during needle of death ... it was so haunting, so beautiful, it was somehow for me one of the highlights as was 'Changes' ...
'Someday' was another highlight where Neil pulled out a somewhat obscure song from his past a brought it to life with deep, haunting emotion ... again totally amazed by how Neil breaths life into songs and even after listening to them literally dozens if not hundreds of times he brings it to life live .. thats how I experienced "Someday' ... a few observations ... lots of the show was played on the pianos and organs ... made me wonder if these shows are inspired from his reconnecting with the 'Cellar Door' era ... stripped down Neil, taking things to their total essence ... hard to remember the last time Neil played only oldies ... no song played thats not 20 if not 40+ years old ...
lots of mentions of Stills and CSNY all conveying love and appreciation ... for some reason never thought he'd play 'Southern Man' ever again ... 'Goin Back' mindblowingly sublime ... wow ... it was worth being a Neil Young fan just for that one song ... overall to reflect on the ferocity of last year's PP Crazy Horse tour and then last night's gorgeous simplicity with just Neil, his instruments, and his soulfulness ... just feel fortunate to be plugged into whole scene ... it truly feels like these past 5-10 years have been awe inspiring ..
what can you say, so grateful!!!
Well, we're off to have our own experience!

Thanks Dan1. I always enjoy reading what you have to say. Thank God for YouTube and for sites like this one. Thanks Thrasher for providing the conduit into everyone's soul. I'll be enjoying the show through you guys and with the pics, boots and videos, I almost feel like I'm there too! So awesome these shows. Can't wait for tonight and I'm a thousand miles away!!

I passed Carnegie Hall this morning on the way to work and saw the Neil Young signs for tonight's show and then felt compelled to try to go again (and not sure how I would explain it to my wife) ... so I checked stubhub hoping for a nosebleed seat for less than a hundred or a couple hundred bucks... cheapest ticket for tonight is $1,200 (and there are maybe 10 tickets for sale total) ... so, thrilled for all who get to go tonight/tomorrow ... I'll be doing it vicariously via TW and You Tube ... Negative Man same sentiments enjoy your thoughts too.
Now this is the NY content that I have loved and cherished for almost twenty years.
Seems like already legendary shows ....

I saw one of the legendary Boarding House shows back I the day, so I know how special such an evening can be.
Much surprise has been expressed that Neil is playing entirely from his back catalogue with no new material. Am I the only one to have thought that this might be related to his recent cessation of alcohol, etc?
That alcohol, etc provides a benefit to creative processes has long been assumed by popular culture, so perhaps the muse is just not as easy to find as it once was...
Yes Single Malt, I think it's safe to say your the only one that thinks that. I think what your referring to is old age. It happens to the best of them!

Sounds like these shows are the beautiful, emotional calms before the thunderous hurricanes to be unleashed later on (Archives 2/more Crazy Horse/etc.). Wish I was there, but happy to be here, watching and waiting.
Thrasher...First of all....Thanks for maintaining this site all these long years. I feel honored that one f my pictures (Bumper Sticker of "Id Rather be at a Neil Young Concert") has been on the site since I took it in Weert NL in 2008.
I am so stoked to be going to the Massey Hall show Sunday Night. Such a classic venue and so historic in the life of NY. His Home Town.
Hoping the shows are as epic as the CH shows this week. Thanks for letting me post my thoughts.

There's a bootleg on dimeadozen from night 2 that sounds fantastic. Most of them aren't so good but this one is the real deal! Goosebumps time. Check it out.
