GRAMMY's To Honor Neil Young in January 2014
Rock Song: "Angry World," Neil Young
February 13, 2011
Back in 2011, Neil Young accepted his first Grammy award (for music*).
Now we learn that Neil Young will be honored again by the Recording Academy Producers and Engineers Wing for his commitment to excellence and ongoing support for the art and craft of recorded music.
Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow said in a statement:
"It is with great honor that we pay tribute to a musical icon who has been tireless in his own efforts to draw attention to the importance of hearing music as the artists who created it intended, and who has continually set precedents of excellence within the music community. The contributions of Neil Young are innumerable, as is his incomparable body of work, and we look forward to an unforgettable evening with this legendary artist."The event will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at the Village Studios in West Los Angeles.
* Technically, Neil Young's First-Ever Grammy Award was in 2010 for his Archives Box design.

In the words of one Carly Simon -
'Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, you're the best'
A recognition way over due, so well deserved and completely appropriate for the amazing man we all admire so much.
And even better, probably the last thing he cares about.
As they should!
Now that Neil is being honoured by the Grammy Committee, why not start a campaign for him to be awarded a knighthood by the British Government. As a proud Canadian he is entitled to be nominated and the huge amount of money he has raised for various charities, Bridge School, Farm Aid etc deserves some kind of international recognition. Arise Sir Neil!
Comments and thoughts about the Rolling Stone article .
Up here in the Land of the True North Strong and Free , we chuckle and are grateful for the continued ignorance shown by most Americans in their feeble attempts to understand Canada .
Gavin Edwards article is humorous in it's comparisons .
Saskatchewan is farming country , the trees cut are low grade pulp in the North , sold to the US to print trash magazines .
Omemee is NOT Norhtern Ontario , it's just North of Toronto . Take a look on a map !
In Canada we call them trucks , lorries is a UK term .
Canada is still part of the commonwealth , with our Gracious Queen our Sovergn .
When so called Canadian ... Neil Young writes song in disrespect to our Monarchy .... he is nothing more than a Yankee with a Canadian passport !
Have a Great day Eh !
Archives volume 2!!
Too many distractions, get it out!
If it's as good as I suspect it will be then it will get lots of mainstream media coverage so Neil will have a high-profile platform to promote his environmental campaign from, everyone's happy!
Wishful thinking on my part I think, but it is on my mind, would be on the top of my Christmas list if it were an option. Any news on release date?
Archives Guy, you still around?
Anyway, congratulations on the Grammy Neil, you deserve it.
EH

John eh,
Helpless uses 'poetic licsence'. A town in 'north Ontario', not 'Northern Ontario'.
And he wrote Don't Let it Bring You Down on a plane ride back from London, hence the English terminology.
Also pretty sure Ol' Neil didn't write God Save The Queen.
fyi
Syscrusher
Exactly Syscrusher ..... Thank-you !
Peace Love and Far-out to ya .
He did not write the song , and showed disrespect to it by his trash Americana version .
Lest we Forget 11/11
Hey Grunge man , next time ya fill up your gas tank , and pay with cash , take a good look at the face of our Sovergn Queen !
Good times are comin ... the bat is still suckin blood from the Earth ...... I'll sell ya twenty dollars worth .
Enviromental Gurus like Young , Suzuki and Gore feed fear while fueling their diesel burnin engines .
Shame
A free mind that enjoys the music can also enjoy the freedom to question those rich folk that continue to preach to us middle class that they once belonged to !
