Farm Aid 2013 this weekend!!!
The Photo of the Moment is Willie Nelson & Neil Young from Farm Aid 2003 in Columbus Ohio by Paul Natkin.
Here's a look back at last year's Farm Aid 2012 Concert Wrapup as we look forward to next week's Farm Aid.
The campaign for a Nobel Peace Prize for Willie Nelson's Farm Aid work and other causes continues. Thus far, almost 30,000 have supported the effort by liking Willie Nelson for a Nobel Peace Prize page on Facebook.
With this year's Farm Aid 2012 in Hershey, PA coming up, we thought it was a good idea to remind folks of the remarkable lifetime achievements of the founder of Farm Aid, Willie Nelson.
Willie Nelson's efforts for Farm Aid, his work on alternative fuels, and world peace initiatives deserve a nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize. (Full details of Nelson's career and commitment to humanitarian efforts are here.)
Willie Nelson has been helping family farmers for over 25 years and has raised awareness of healthy foods while raising funds for the cause.
Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985 to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on their land. Dave Matthews joined the Farm Aid Board of Directors in 2001. Farm Aid has raised more than $37 million to promote a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture. Farm Aid is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to keep family farmers on their land.
John Mellencamp is campaigning to get Willie Nelson a Nobel Peace Prize. The interview took place on SIRIUS XM Willie's Place at Farm Aid 25 in Milwaukee, Wisc.
Thanks everybody for liking Willie Nelson for Nobel Peace Prize page on Facebook!

Right now Rust Radio is playing a show from 9.10.1985 (NYC Pier 84), which was just twelve days before the first Farm Aid concert. Neil and the Harvesters just finished a smokin' version of Southern Pacific, and now they are doing Interstate...wow, I haven't heard this in years and years. Another hidden gem!
Neil has mentioned Farm Aid in between songs. Interesting and amazing how his passion then was just as great as his passion is now...and vice versa. "I love writing songs for you people...it feels good" leads into Sugar Mountain: "It's so noisy at the Pier, but all your friends are here" :)
A couple days back, they played a show from late '75 at The Inn of the Beginning. What's fascinating is how many of the songs in that set are also in the one playing now, "only" ten years later and now many more years back. And the '75 set has like six debut songs, including Hurricane...absolutely wonderful. Anyone out there remember being at either show? Or both shows?
Thanks Rust Radio, you guys add wind to my sails. And the crowd happily sings along!
And if you are going to the show tomorrow, get there early to see Pegi's set...Neil might just be with the band, and you sure as hell don't want to miss that. Then enjoy Carlene Carter in her first time at Farm Aid, and let me know if she plays Unbreakable Heart, and also which Carter Family song(s) she includes.
Thanks!
A late night salute for everyone:

Hi, I was at 9.10.1985 Pier 84 show.... that's how I found your post. Trying to see if there is any way to find a recording of that show. It absolutely POURED down rain for a large part of the show but during Down By The River... deluge..... we were all very happily wet! Probably seen Shaky 15-20 times? Pier was best show EVA... Happy birthday today to Mr Young, long may you run.... let me know if you have any way of finding a recording of that show, hopefully it lives up to my recollection.
