(Click photo to enlarge)
Would you like to win a "Journeys" film poster signed by both Neil Young and Jonathan Demme?
Thanks to the good folks at Sony Classics Pictures, we are offering a contest prize of one "Journeys" film poster signed by both Neil Young and Jonathan Demme along with 4 runnerups for unsigned film posters.
"Neil Young Journeys" has an official theatrical release date starting tomorrow, June 29th.
Directed by Jonathan Demme, Journeys captures Neil Young's 2011 solo tour to Toronto's Massey Hall. Concert footage of the Massey Hall performances is interspersed with scenes from a road trip through Ontario. Driving a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria, Young visits the rural town of Omemee, where he spent a key part of his formative years, and reminisces about his former neighbors. As he drives past the dramatically changed landscape, Young fondly embraces his memories of the past.

I bought a house because of Neil. Long story... lol This poster would look awsome hanging in it.
Sony Classic Pictures has got to remember that Neil is Canadian and to limit the eligibility to only U.S. folks is just plain wrong! C'mon Neil, can't you pull some strings to make this most obvious and appropriate change? Open this contest to everyone...DO THE RIGHT THING!!!
Bill in Calgary
I still entered. Neil is Canadian, the film is filmed here, it revolves around a Canadian town. I say it's open to us. If we win, they can send it to an american and have them send it to us. Tell Sony I said it's cool.
@Bill - Yes, it doesn't seem right that a film made in Canada would make Canadians ineligible for contest.
who knows?
Beleive me, we tried to make Int'l entries eligible.
Maybe if some more folks comment on this, we can point them out to Sony and they'll have a change of heart.

Sony are you trying to save yourself the extra cost for shipping to Canada? I would gladly pay the expense for a chance to win but to be disqualified because we live in Canada and support a Canadian artist that filmed the movie here is a bit lame.
I'm sure Sony doesn't mind receiving the sales and support of all those that purchased their movies here in Canada.
I feel wrongly accused
Thanks Thrasher!
I hope I win one to go along with the rest of my Neil movie posters!

It's probably to save money and I doubt neil gives a shit. Hey Trash, what's it like waking up every day trying to think of a new way to praise someone. Like you're in a cult?
woops, small typo there. I meant Thrash.
Best 7 bucks I've spent in a loooooong time!
Saw Journeys today. Wished there was a litle bit more of Neil scouting around town and telling stories. Cool to see his brother. But boy, once you see him back up on stage doing his thing, you realize how special it can be. So psyched for November.
Canadian and pissed at Sony. Come on ... don't give me any more reasons to dislike the 'Ugly American'

I got to see Journeys last night in LA. I was ridiculously excited complete with butterfly at the theater door. It was well worth the drive. The footage was great, especially camera work from inside the piano and organ. Having missed the solo tour, the LA concert Neil cancelled due to labor rights. and the split-second release of Trunk Show, I was not going to be denied again! Don't miss journeys you will kick yourself. It doesn't matter who he gig's with, or the current expression of his muse just let the experience take you. I can't wait to see him at Red Rocks!
Please no smoke from the fires!!!

Can't wait to see this movie, or Mr. Young himself in November in Calgary. I grew up in Ontario and I know the places he's talking about in the movie. My godfather (Matt Smith) was friends with Neil's dad, Scott Young. We used to hear about this crazy kid driving around in a Hearst....
I truly don't understand why you have to live in the US or Canada to participate. What kind of nonsense is that? I've seen Neil in concert in Switzerland and the Netherlands. Our money was good for tickets.
saw the film last night. thought it very good. really shows how NY can be arresting to the audience, just stop you in your tracks, solo. sound was very good. the car scenes are mostly forgettable but come with a couple laughs. one favorite scene is a time lapse of the venue, Massy Hall, day to night. Im not really one of these architechure geeks but the place just resonates a vibe. Backstage, waiting to go back for his encore, just a lonely table with a small cooler, open beer, small plate of lemons to suck on, tea bags and hot water. stripped down. no remove the green M&Ms requirements, lol. favorite tracks, Love and War, Ohio, I believe in You, Peaceful Valley. You Never Call. No so much, Walk with Me. I can do without that one. No NY fan will be disappointed though. Harveys show just over 3 weeks away.
The part I want to see most are the car scenes and shots of where he grew up. When I was a kid, I had a teacher that would tell us, "NY use to live around the corner" (Pickering) We just thought she was a nut job.
I can't wait to see this film!!! Remove the green M&Ms describes perfectly the height to which so many ego rise. As far as the view from the dash, it wouldn't be a Neil film without. Remember when he was hauling Lincvolt from Kansas to Virginia how many of us got to go along for the ride via webcam ? It's about the journey and the view from the dash makes it even more meaningful....
Harveys about 2 weeks away now. All I was saying is that I was not that impressed at the driving scenes. If all Ol Neil has to say at one point is, I paraphrase, "My brother Bob is driving at the right speed, not too fast not too slow." I dont exactly consider that titilating dialog.
