This is exactly the kind of Stills rocker I thought they couldn't pull off anymore. But Stills sounds good. Neil and Richie do a great "ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba ra-pa-pa." The solos rock.
The original Springfield was all about whose songs they did, who sang what, who was the lead guitarist. It was nominally Stills' band, but you can't "lead" Neil. It was doomed from the start.
By default Neil is the leader now - if he doesn't want to be there it's over. But onstage it is democratic. The petty jealousies of youth are gone. These guys races have been run. Now it's just about playing the music, and damned if it doesn't work.
It's too bad they couldn't make it work back then. Neil would have had to be a solo anyway, but this is a much better 'mothership' than CSNY.
what makes Neil "bigger" than Stills? "Bigger" is not quite the word I'm looking for but it'll have to do for now...In general and not too long ago, Stills was better at everything Neil does IMHO--PLEASE keep in mind the Music IS Subjective...so what makes Neil so special? His VIBE...his ATTITUDE...*I* for one I'm kinda glad the tour has been postponed, *I* don't have the money (yet) lol
