Just saw their 1st show in Santa Barbara June 7 and wish I had tickets for there second show as well. By far, one of the best shows I have ever seen.

There first number started off a little rough when Neil stopped the song and said they wanted to do it over again for their own joy... They never missed the rest of the night. They had a lot of fun on stage together and we were all fortunate enough to be able to watch.

Excellant show. Though the set list is not varying I am so glad I go again tonight! Was the greatest to see the boys sharing the sounds!

It was indeed an amazing show. I was fortunate to get a last minute ticket dead center 13th row for face value, 10 mins. before the first act. Gillian and Rawlings did an impromptu JA White Rabbit that was amazing as well. They said they were asked to fill time so Neil could start when the sun was lower? However, Neil started exactly on time @ 8:05. I was close enough to notice Stills was having problems with his gear on the first song and several stage techs were all over it. Neil mentioned they were having technical difficulties, but it sounded just fine to me.

It was the 6th song, Go and Say Goodbye, that was the do-over. Stills had guitar problems on the first two songs. Mr. Soul went on for 10 minutes, and Keep On Rocking In The Free World for almost 20. All of NY's songs were highlights. Others were Kind Woman,
Nowadays Clancy, and For What It's Worth. I thought
there were definite peaks and valleys, but hey!, it's
Buffalo Springfield--the masters of peaks and valleys.

In spite of how hard Neil tries to lay back and just be another player in a band, his 'aura' is just too powerful for that to be. I believe that he is sincerly attempting to make an effort to keep his ego in check with this tour in light of all of the issues with ego's that caused this band to implode 42 yrs ago in the first place. Earlier this week someone who attended a show posted on how Neil was "holding back" and not breaking into any of his trademark guitar solo's. Remember, this isn't a 'Neil Young' concert, rather it's an opportunity for Neil and the boy's to not only "show the world what they got", but more importantly they can show the world how they grew and matured in the past 40+ years to be at a place now where they can truly share a stage together and compliment each others talents by backing and supporting each other instead of having to have the loudest or longest guitar solo. I saw a photo where Neil was playing an accoustic guitar while Stills was playing electric. That would have never happened back in those days when the rivalry was so intense that it almost came to blows on certain occasions. There were stories that had Stills and Young having 'volume wars' and even going as far as un-plugging the others guitar in the heat of the battle. As good as it is to see these guys together again, all eyes are still on Neil waiting to see what he will do next. Only time will tell though, if they can get through the whole tour without Neil suggesting to Still's that he "eat a peach" and making a right where he should have made a left. Thats what seperate tour buses are for. Those days are behind them, right?

Here's the Wall Street Journal review of the LA shows. Jim Fusilli is a good music writer, and gets this one right (except for calling "Burned" Crashed").

Once in a lifetime you get a chance to revel in the creation of an artist(s) at their finest. I was delighted to have been able to witness just such an event at the Santa Barbara County Bowl with this band putting out a magnifdicent show. I felt waves of joy sweep accross the audience twice in one song while I had closed my eyes and turned my head to better hear the full tilt onslaught of this band killing it. I will never forget this evening. I've been told my cancer will take my life within the next 2 years and this show made it easy to scratch off one of my bucket list items. I pray I can see them again in the fall when they may come back this way. Other than that they will only play one more date in TN.( after tonights show) and this tour will take an extended break. If you read this and can make the Wed. June 8th show in S.B. for heavens sake do it!!

here is a review of the Sat LA show by Falling James, a respected writer for the LA Weekly. It was his gig of the week. This is by far my favorite review so far, he knows his stuff.

I saw BS at the 6/8 show at the SB County Bowl. They far exceeded my expectations which were already pretty high. Their set list consisted of most of the songs from Retrospective. They looked like there genuinely having fun playing together. There were a few off-key moments but what do you expect for not playing together for 40 years. The show was almost 2 hours but it seemed like 30 minutes. They closed with Keep on Rockin in the Free World. If they come back in the fall I will be first in line for tickets. This was one of the best concerts I've been to in a long time.

Saw the Buffalo Springfield with my buds, 6/8/11, at the Santa Barbara Bowl. The general consensus: the only thing that is exactly clear is that it is potentially everyone's great fortune that the collectively and independently historical, phenomenal, brilliant 60's musical, socio-political, and humanitarian pioneers, the Buffalo Springfield, are back together again, bringing abundant joy to the global community, especially at a time when such joy is sorely needed. Instead of superficial, egotistical, ultimately senseless criticism, let us count our blessings, for a number of reasons, and rejoice for the rare and golden opportunity to experience, or re-experience, the Buffalo Springfield and a new-millenium Love-In right now, in the present moment while we are all still here in Earth-mode. Kudos, Homage, and Thank You, Buffalo Springfield! We are deeply grateful beyond words and cannot wait for the next one if it is meant to be! Carpe diem, people, please see the Buffalo Springfield while it is still possible to do so=a blessed treat! Godspeed to all!

What were the two or three songs by BS at the Santa Barbara Bowl that were not ever on a record? Nose bleed seats but could tell of the unfamilar songs. Thanks, Loner.
