Elton John, T Bone Burnett, Leon Russell added to Neil Young tribute
Neil Young
MusiCares Person of the Year
Last month, we blogged on the all-Star lineup announced for MUSICARES Tribute to Person of the Year Neil Young.
Today, according to The Examiner, T Bone Burnett, Patty Griffin, Sir Elton John, Lady Antebellum and Leon Russell have been added to the event.
Jack Black will be the emcee.
This news comes on top of the previously announced artists Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, k.d. lang, Dave Matthews, Ozomatli, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and James Taylor; GRAMMY winners John Mellencamp, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Wilco; GRAMMY-nominated artists Jackson Browne and Josh Groban and acclaimed emerging band Everest will perform at the gala to pay tribute to Neil Young.

Wowww what a casting !
Wow. Most of the people on that list are in line to get tribute shows of their own, much less... and here they all are coming together to pay tribute to Neil Young. Just shows how larger-than-larger-than-life Neil Young's influence has been.
How do I get tickets for this?!?!?!
Which song do you think Elton will cover? Would be so great if he did Expecting to fly or maybe Ambulance blues!
let's hope for a DVD--they did that when they honored Brian Wilson...

Are we sure all these artists will perform?
It doesn't seem possible. One would think that most of these will attend and maybe just make a few remarks.
Who knows??
Elton John should cover one of the great piano ballads.. "A Man Needs a Maid" might be a good choice, or "After the Goldrush". this ought to eb agreat big deal - and well overdue I might say.
Elton can't hit those high notes anymore. I fear he would butcher the Harvest-era piano hits.
I say Elton should do a rousing cover of Let's Impeach the President!
heh heh
How about Elton doing a spooky piano version of TTN!
What a line up, wow, Neil`s getting the recognition he deserves at last.
Jill (keep on bloggin...)
This setup would seem more reasonable for a 'Bobfest' than the previously mentioned Vaccouver Olympic promotion laid out last week or so. From an award gala recognizing his philanthropic efforts for Neil point of view it seems more palatable than the Olympic 'look at us doing him' thing.
- Not Rotten Johnny
....and also, I am definately into Jack Black as emcee, he definately learned a bit from his tenure attending "School of Rock"
- NRJ
Neil will win his first for the box set.About due for a lifetime award too..Do they still do that?
No Eddie Vedder?
