"Keep on "Rockin' in the Free World"

Pearl Jam closed out their 4 day stand at the Philadelphia Spectrum with Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World" from a concert report by Karen 0n streamland.
The concert last night marked the final performance at the Philadelphia Spectrum before it is torn down to become an "sports/entertainment center".
So the final music memories of the legendary Philadelphia Spectrum (where the Time Fades Away album cover was photographed) will be a Neil song. Excellent.
More on Neil Young's final show at the Philadelphia Spectrum and why 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall the song "Rockin' in the Free World" is the anthem heard around the globe this week.

it was actually a four night stand, not three. Besides covering Neil, they covered Neil's pals in Devo, and even dressed the part. See the video at http://noexpiration.blogspot.com/2009/11/pearl-jam-closes-spectrum.html
the devo thing was hysterical, and well done! more neil content, they played "out of my mind"! not the neil one, tho. ; ) a pearl jam rarest of rare rarity, see video. OTO! lovekaren
It was a long night. RITFW was second to last. Yellow Ledbetter was the last song played at the Spectrum.

So were the balloons and confetti dropped for RITFW or YL?

The red, white and blue balloons and confetti were dropped for RITFW, which was clearly planned to be the last song played. But of course at the end of RITFW (all balloons and confetti now on floor) people were still going crazy, so Eddie said "maybe one more"? And did YL. Mike M. stayed on stage playing the national anthem a la Jimi at the very end. lovekaren
