I want to feel your love - "Here is a song you never heard, well maybe you heard it, its a song about a hotel" He said something like that. It was a good aquistic tune.
Good concert, For the price we paid you think he could of had Live Projection TV. I seen a lot poorer bands play the areana with Big Screen projection.
Leni
Thanks for posting the setlist!
Was that 'new song' maybe "Feel Your Love"?
High on a balcony, right where we used to be,
This city dancing like a sparkling sea.
I wanna catch a wave, I wanna swim to shore.
Walk on that same beach like I did before.
I really want the sun, want the sun to rise,
I really want to end the night.
I really wanna feel, wanna feel your love.
I wanna feel your love.
Roel
Unreal concert TV screens or not. Neil is the king there is no doubt.
The lyrics on the new song look right.
The Fork in the Road songs are very strong live and the album is kick ass.
I would have been a bit disapointed to see a big screen show at a Neil Young concert. For me, it was an unreal venture into perfection. You wont hear any of the guitars he played played as well ever again in my opinion ( unless of course you see him again). The entire band were the most professional in their field, and it was a rare experience indeed to see them. I feel 20 years younger and completly buzzed out.
It's not a new song Kevin, it's been released for more than 20 years.
C,mon fellow bloggers, with Thrasher's blessing(hopefully)... I'd like to again pose this question in the form of a survey.
entitled, "The Ideal Neil".
With the fans' diversity in tastes in Neil's music and the continual changes in the set list at each concert...just what is your dream live concert set list?
With a pick of 20 songs from any era plus the ideal encore/finale,
show us your "IDEAL NEIL"
It should be very interesting when correlating the results!
One thing's for sure..no two setlists will be the same, heh!
The Archives Four...'Ideal Neil' Live in concert!

I figured the song (Feel your love??) was already released when neil intro'd it as one you "might not have heard or maybe you have, it's one or the other"
The original poster had mentioned it was a new song and that's how I identified it as well.
I think it's what might have previously have been called a bonus track on this tour. I see it's only been played one one other time so far.
There were so many highlights: Words and spooky versions of Speaking out and Tonight's the Night. Mr Soul...the whole night was great.
I really liked the Fork in the road songs and my buddy, who is not a Neil fan and hadn't heard anything said that his new songs sure rock a lot harder than the old stuff.
By the way, I always read this site but these are my first posts and I signed up with my real name. Not sure what everyone is afraid of.
Feel Your Love - CSNY, American Dream album. I heard him do it last week in London, great song.
...Tyler
BTW, he also had big screens in London...bigger arena perhaps? (10000 people)
...Tyler
He had screens in the Sault as well.
The show was good. Even if Neil put on a bad performance he would get the benefit of the doubt, as he has more than paid his dues. Lots of deposits in his fan's emotional bank accounts.
I went with my 16 year old son, and we were on the floor, which is always alot more fun than sitting, if your over 5'10". He was suprised at how many people were smoking weed, and how many drunks were stubbling around. Upon refleaction I think it is a good thing that he sees this sort of thing going on, so he can make his own decisions about how he lives his life.
So apart from hearing some great music, I got to watch a kid grow.
Thanks Neil.
Feel Your Love is not a new song - it was recorded 21 July 1988 and is on CSNY American Dream

Just to be controversial... I don't think Neil could do a worthwhile version of 'Another Day' by Roy Harper.
Be seeing you!
I thought that the show was great, the only thing was the goon squad worrying about taking a few pictures. Whats the big deal. Sound was as good as it get for an arena too!

Ok so it's more than 20 but it's my fantasy. Tomorrow I would pick different songs. Just too many. Can I plan a Tour instead?
A couple days late but it was a long trip home. I've been to a dozen Neil concerts over the years and this was one of the best. It didn't hurt to be standing at the rail center stage. Spent 6 hours standing thinking this is hard on an old man - then there's Neil 2 years older. I only havew a short time left but I get to spend it rockin to Neil around the world tour. I get to see the archives. What a way to go. Kraunk in Montana

So if thats ok with you Shakey on Monday night in Denver, thanks, see you there then.
From Aitken the giblet, lost on the Needles Highway in South Dakota.
Whoa,...Aitken the giblet.
Was that lost on the needles highway.... or just lost on the needles! Talk about left of centre!
Hey, each to his own!
To me the highlight in Kelowna was when the whole arena sang along with Needle and the Damage Done. It was touching to hear all these people who knew every single lyric. Sounded beautiful.

I guess I really am getting old. I tried to think of the highlights of 35+ concerts over the years, and could only come up with the following, plus a few "in my dreams" choices. I know I'll be kicking myself for posting this when I remember all the one's I left out, but...
It's an exercise in futility really. I recently put a chronological "best of" list together for a friend so he could create an Ipod list in order to get to know Neil, and I came up with well over 200 songs. How do you come up with a greatest hits list, or a perfect set list? I can't.
Anyhow, here goes- with my sentimental favorites from my first concert at Cobo Hall in Detroit, 1973 (the Time Fades Away tour with the Stray Gators)- Neil all alone on a stool with an acoustic guitar, decked out with red skull cap and flannel shirt singing "On The Way Home" right out of the box, and later Don't Be Denied with the band. I felt really weird the next day in school trying to come down from the experience- and no I didn't get high, although my friends did.

Greg M
bsoYa know Greg, The diversity of taste in his music by his fans as shown in their "ideal neil" is quite amazing...but not surprising.
It just cements the fact that every fan has a different 'buzz'from his music..be it 70's and 80's nostalgic, 90's grunge, christ even some like his rocker billy and FITR !(just stirrin').
Well thats the beauty of being a Neil fan..sometimes frustrated..sometimes blown away..
but its never ever boring 'coz ya just don't no what tangent or "fork' his gunna take heh.
P's. It's good to have a friend..even if its only one!

I was at the show in Kelowna and have looked at 2 sites for the set lists and there seems to be something missing - maybe my brain? Anyways is there anyone out there who was at the show who can tell me what song it was - Neil at the piano - very bluesy - something about The Searcher or Searcher. I have Fork in the Road and it's not at that and I am at a loss... thanks.
I don't know, maybe "Tell me why"?..
on piano?...with Luey Armstrong?
I obviously wasn't there(going green)... just guessing.

We'll make number 18 Cortez the Killer... I posted Tonight's the Night twice.
Add Journey Through the Past, Thrasher and Barstool Blues to make it 25 songs like he played in Halifax a few weeks back.
-DBD
The only songs Neil sang at the piano were Speakin out and Tonights the night and Mother Earth on the pump organ.
Maybe Speakin out -- that had a real blues feel to it with Anthony Crawford playing guitar to Neil's piano
Thanks to anon for the set list.
This show was recorded by at least 2 recordists.
He also did ready for the country on piano
Lethbridge show was awesome. Would love to see a song list posted.Only one song was a little disappointing. On "Stepping Out", the Nils Lofgren solo on the album is fantastic, at this show the solo was a little weak. Should have got Ben Keith to play it. Would have loved to hear "All Along the Watchtower" or "Day in the Life", from tour down under. But overall, great to see him in an intimate setting like Lethbridge.
Jeff From Lethbridge.
Hey, I was just lookin' back on the second best night of my life, first best being October 22nd, 2008 in Vancouver for Neil, and I couln't help but smile when I recalled Neil bowing back to the crowd. My friends and I had been bowing to him all night long (I was front row center, IT was way too much goodness)and I remember him looking at us and saying "No." And then he bowed and the whole arena went nuts. It was quite a feeling.
