Happy Neil Year!!!
Berlin - February 2008
Hope everyone had a nice holiday and a happy new year.
After another exhausting year as a Neil Young fan (poor us), maybe we'll get some relief in 2009? Not.
Brand New Guy emailed us to predict some possible and probable Neil Young activity for '09:
1 Go on Australia/NZ tour
2 Finish mixing songs already recorded for possible release (as "Linc Volt: the soundtrack"?)
3 Release Toast?
4 Release Archives?
5 Continue Linc Volt project
6 Finish Linc Volt movie
7 Release Jonathan Demme's "Trunk Show"?
8 Tour Europe in the summer, including Glastonbury?
9 Do Farm Aid
10 Do the Bridge School shows
So that's for starters. And your predictions for Neil in '09?
22 Comments:
I hope I'm wrong but I'm predicting no Archives in '09.
What happened to the Archives info page on Neil's website? I thought that was supposed to launch a couple of weeks ago. That would be great if they got that up an running, but I doubt it will happen despite what Archive Guy said.
I hope Neil releases both Toast and the Linc Volt Soundtrack but would he want to release 2 albums close together?
I hope he tours with Crazy Horse again, personally. :)
We need a good Crazy Horse tour with some Zuma and some "Change Your Mind" and support Toast
Play with trains?
He needs to drop everything and concentrate on the Archives. Get them released ASAP. I'll be massively pissed off if they are not released within the next couple of months. We've waited long enough now.
Happy Neil Year everybody!
My favourites for 2009:
1) New album (LincVolt soundtrack?)
2) Toast
3) LincVolt
4) Cough up the bucks (remixed disco version)
5) Trunk Show (on more time No Hidden Path in a yellow space of light)
Notes: 1) Euro tour 2009 is pretty sure.
2) Archives made me feel tired in 2008
Holy crap I can't believe there's a strong possibility of another Euro tour!!!!
I hope he comes back to Scotland! And not to T in the frickin' Park either! I don't know if I could endure that, even for Neil :-(
Glastonbury would be amazing (and is still an option...) but it would be cool if he came up our way again.
I'll be checking TW every day until we get details (I'll be checking it every day anyway, to be honest :-))
Happy Neil Year to you, Thrasher!

Please slow down, Neil.
I'm already trying to scrape £200 together for the (possible) Archives. If he plays Glastonbury, that's another £175. What happened to the good old days of touring the UK once every 5 years!

Anyone know what Harvest Moon Live is all about? Saw it on Amazon....
HOW ABOUT CRAZY HORSE TOUR?
I think Glastonbury would be a bad idea for Neil to be honest. The Friday night crowd would be full of people that either know very little or nothing at all of Neil's work. If he does play I don't think he should headline, maybe play the Jazzworld stage like John Fogerty did a few years ago.
Was that the REAL Archives Guy to post:
"my predictions:
no archives.
no toast.
no trunk show.
jonathan goodwin learns the true nature of shakey when neil ditches linc-volt, never to return.
no crazy horse."
LOL! I agree with him!
Neil ought to take a long rest, relax some, find a new exercise regime, re-access the quality of the 'new' songs and get down to the business of trumping Dylan's latest (few) with a masterpiece.

Thrasher,
One more thing to add to your list (unless it turned out to be utter nonsense and I never noticed...)
Wasn't Neil supposed to be providing lead guitar on Booker T's new album, due out this year?

Maybe after another long year of waiting for the Archives, blu-ray, black-ray, or otherwise, Neil can complicate things a bit more by putting out a $30000 total-package combining the Archives, a climate-friendly car with no-ray-dvd-radio (to play the Archives on), and a complimentary copy of Time Fades Away, extended version!
Or, even better, synchronizing the total package to hit the market in the next presidential election year, transforming polling stations into energy-friendly hook ups for electric cars, miniature versions of family farms in fact, where everybody crouches around the camp fire and tunes into the Long Grain radio station for long forgotten love songs.
Maybe a single concert in the southeast would be nice. how many times are you going to play the same places over and over again on this long tour you've been on? Atlanta? Miami? Orlando? Jacksonville? somewhere in this corner of the us? I would love to see you play, but I (and a lot of other people) cant afford to take off from work, fly, get a hotel, and a ticket.
Please, we want a 2008 Continental Tour DVD (Blu-Ray)
11) Take out the garbage.
12) Tear self down
13) Build self up again.
14) Just one time remember to take the Rogaine.
15) Stop by barrel's house and quaff a coupla cold ones.

As my teachers always said... and I was always able to prove them wrong.."there is no such thing as a dumb question"...here goes....What is the big big deal about The Archives?...I mean, I've got alot of real real good "boot leg" stuff as it is....Am I just missing out on the booklets? Anyhow...as far as touring goes...I am all for getting the Horse back together for another run. Radio City Music Hall in NYC is soooo much better than the Garden......even better yet, Maybe something like Bowie did a few years ago. He decided to play all 5boroughs, small venues only, to thank his loyal fans. Other than that...Peace and prosperity to all this new year.
